[Stardust Crusaders] - 15

I actually kind of...prefer the fight from the 2000's OVA's which is not something that I expected I'd be saying. Obviously it's very different encounter with major plot differences but it was actually kind of awesome.

I still enjoyed this episode, of course.

Just the first 3 episodes!

It's been a long time since I've seen the OVA's and I hardly even remembered Justice to begin with, but what makes you say that?
Curious.

Oh boy. I'm getting Guilty Crown vibes from this. Maybe it's the comically over-the-top villain?

Then some of this writing. I mean, mechanime (or any anime for that matter) have problems when they
kill off friends/family of an MC in the early game
but then to double down by having the MC
be almost completely unaffected by it or have pacing that makes it seem that way
just seems like a big no-no. I mean, even Black Bullet
handled death better
.
I just mean
the utter non reaction on his part or his friend being vaporized. Usually even completely non-emotional MCs have a reaction when their friends die at the very least.

I don't get why you two think Inoha is unaffected with that scene, its leaving totally different impression to me.. Dude seemingly gutted and totally mad behind his poker face. The direction making sure you catch that with eye shot just after the scene that happening and back shot in aftermath, his suggestion after that also on aggresive note.

To clarify, there are a few number of "decent" titles on the list, but as a list of the top 20 greatest anime (tv, movies, ovas!) of all time it's garbage. Alright shows like FMA:B aren't even in my top 100 anime of all time, let alone number one.

I'm dead serious.

It's my (low) expectations of top XX lists on Internet, then :p. They are so universally horrible that if I see one with some decent titles (Mushishi, Logh, Ruroni Kenshin OVA, Wolf Children, Sen to Chihiro, Gurren Lagann, Stein's Gate) one starts thinking that it's somewhat good, but really the other half of it it's bad.

I did not get that impression at all and I think that's a bit of a reach.

If they are going to play the whole
"no time to mourn" card
, it's a different story. That's why I'm not passing judgment until episode 3.

Uncomparable, Kiritsugu has a reason for the way he acts and it is established repeatedly through the series from the very beginning.

I'm talking about Kirei. This isn't the first time(or second or third) Urobuchi has had an emotionless character, always for good reason.

Curious.

The fight in the OVA is very different, even though it basically starts the same. It involves all the main heroes, and actually becomes kind of a mini "boss battle" and features the best animation in that set of OVA's. It's really cool.

So you think Gintama is bad.

I went back to check the scenes afterward just to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Fate/Zero Season 2 Episode 5: Distant Memories

Easily the best episode so far as we finally get a look into Kiritsugu's past.
The knew something bad was bound to happen to Shirley, but I really liked her character in the short time we get, and what she turned into and that whole scene in the chicken coop was really sad to watch. This whole episode was filled with nothing but despair by the end holy crap. I need to take a 30 minute breather before I start the next episdoe.

It's fairly obvious where they're going with Inoha. Chances are that he's going to start enjoying fighting and you're going to have a lead where the war has made him emotionally 'worse'.

The show is just like Fate/Zero. The opening shot is straight out of F/Z OP1 and the OP as a whole is F/Z's 2nd OP.

The Aldnoah's power is just like the magic stuff in Fate/Zero. Inoha is probably going to take advantage of it in the same way Kiri did.

Watching this show through a Fate/Zero lens is either going to be this show's success or undoing.

For those who us who haven't watched F/Z, we're gonna have to call it as we see it. =\

This was pretty good. Action packed and didn't bother with unnecessarily prolonging twists and reveals.

Fairly sure it was my first time meeting the CG future on such a scale and eh, I didn't like it much, at least here. Maybe will get used to it.

So far from my three picks; Tokyo Ghoul, Terror in Resonance and this, Aldnoah is the highlight.

Girls und Panzer 4-6

Man they really don't bother with team balancing do they ? 10 Shermans vs rabble of 5 old tanks/ old assault guns. Talk about the lopsided odds. Of course the last boss will probably be the Kraut team donning their Tigers and Panthers.

When CR puts it up so I'm on a slight time delay, but I'm going to keep with it until the end for various reasons.
I'm going to keep watching because I enjoy a certain body type and the character designer draws that body type very well. Also train design porn.

I loved F/Z as well but I am simply not getting that vibe. I'm getting the "He's gonna jump into enemy mecha and know exactly how to use it with perfect skill and wreck the first person he fights." like many other mecha MCs the only difference being is he will be completely unaffected by it all.

Yea no.

You know given his personality he could of been scarred due to some event in his life. But we haven't gotten there yet. Though I can see why this may be a complaint, I'd rather have him than bitchy Shinji type of character. And cocky type of MC for this genre has been used a lot also. We will just have to wait and see tho.

He's had a ton of military training. Also it's apparent that Inoha being emotionless is being treated as a quirk and not some 'bad-ass' trait like in Mahouka.

I honestly doubt it. But, I'll concede it is still early so maybe he'll get some development that at least make him tolerable.

If you want a mech anime with a good protagonist watch Xenoglossia instead.
Miki isn't in it, why tell anybody to watch that?

Once again fuck the CG..
He also mentioned that he wanted to
buy time for the evactuation
. It's a pragmatic response and barely an emotional one.

He not gonna shown many emotion on face value with this archetype, I suspect there will be more scene like that again where he facing dramatic scenario and we don't really know what behind his attitude/act, let just say if that actually happen in future episode I got this one right :D

I'm all for the hilariously grimdark backstory that he was outside during the war when he was real young (given his age, he'd be a toddler) in the middle of the battlefield or some shit and that scarred him so much that he became the egg-tan we know and love today.

Captain Earth 15

Amazing, stuff happened in this episode. It kind of feels like this is entering the endgame, I guess.

That triple kiss scene was actually really neat. I'll give them props for that.
All the planetary gears are assembled now, so now we will finally see other members of Team Rocket. That took a while, geez.
So Hana has a Livlaster now. And it's in super mode or something. Sweet.

I do think the compressed timetable really screws up the 'logicality' of the show. If it had been 200 years or so since Heaven's Fall then that would explain why human civilization was close to normal, instead of being a complete mess like it should be, and also would emphasize the gap between the Human and Martian technology in a more believable way.

It would also help explain the Martian side a bit better(that's assuming there isn't time travel/dilation already in the story, which is very possible. Something like Heaven's Gate was a wormhole and when it was destroyed, time sped up for the Martians while Terrans progressed like normal).

SAO II EP2

Boring trash again. A proper introduction for Sinon is appreciated, just don't make it an entire episode long. Admittedly, they did mention some game mechanics, although the GGO world still doesn't feel like an actual video game world to me, much like everything beforehand.

I just can't care for the majority of the action, it's so bland and certainly feels way off from what I'd expect a shooter based game to feel. For example I don't see why Sinon is actually in any danger with her long range sniper rifle abd some people like to stand in the open instead of taking some fricking cover. Of course the fight also has to end with our sniper doing some ridiculous air vaulting that somehow allows her to avoid plenty bullets, despite her complete inability to actually do anything more than rotating around her own axis.

Mind you, it wasn't terrible and I did appreciate getting some game mechanics.,

What however was terrible is the dialog.

My biggest complaints in logic this episode, which aren't overly large complaints, are:

1. "He smiles when he's in a fight, it must mean he's dangerous!". OR! OOOOOR! And this might sound crazy, but he could be a guy having a good time in a video game. I mean I know that sounds crazy but you know 1 +2 does not equal potato.

2. When she flipped out at the guy turning into a pansy. In this case both of you are taking this game way too seriously. Is there something I'm not hearing here? If one dies in the game does their character die forever? Because if not there was no reason to take any of this seriously. It's a game

Also we almost had tentacle grape again. That soda wasn't ever that refreshing, plz no moar.

Does that mean he's strong enough to smile on the battlefield?
That kind of character monologue is seriously cringe inducing.

Yes, I'm going to hold off speculating about those things. There are obviously going to be a few things to distrupt the story progression as we go along.

The details are missing for me in the show in order for it to be engaging. The lack of genuine emotion and sense of disorder and chaos in the onset of the invasions was jarring (everything became desolate too fast for my taste).

I think the Second Renaissance Part 2 illustrated the despair of facing overwhelming force really well. I wish some of that had been channeled into this (although, not to such a final conclusion of course).

Mahouka - 15
This is not a very good show, but the action is pretty enjoyable.
But,.oh my god, the pacing. This magical competition stuff is so stretched out.
Everyone understands that Onii-sama is op. And that his team will destroy everyone until finals. But no, lets waste our time on all those meaningless matches between.
I won't be surprised if the next episode contains only a half of final battle and ends right at the moment Tatsuya is forced to use his secret magics.

Also, I tried to read Mahouka books. They are better than the anime, but pseudoscience is quite annoying.
I like science fiction. I really like Steins Gate, for example. But science in it was based on real science while bending a couple of rules. In Mahouka it's just a lot of capitalised letters that don't mean anything.
And some oddly specific things, like "battle board is 285 cm long and 51 cm wide". 51 cm? Why 51?!

First look at their upcoming TV series Ronia The Robber’s Daughter.

Ehh oh well it is what it is. It looks ok to me.

At least it's better than Love Live CG? :p

I wish LL didn't have the CG, and even A-rise got a animated dance scene with their hit song SHOCKING PARTY!

Never change animeGAF's hyperbole about anything CG related.

It's an unwelcome future.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Jelly! It sucks that it's all sold out. I need to start picking up more art books for shows before they go out of print.

He's pretty much Makoto 2.0 from what I've seen. I like my characters to have at least some enthusiasm. Well at least he won't be complaining when things get rough though.

The thing is the author was an engineer which is why it has a lot of info dump.
