I wonder how is anime for somebody looking for strong female protagonists? I mean sure there are shows but it seems like a grand majority wouldn't have a strong lead. I mean anime probably has more female protagonists than say western media, but so many of them are there for the sake of male viewers.

Most strong characters are relegated to be support in the majority of anime, weirdly. Strong male protags that aren't pander-y also seem to largely be in hiding.

Nike from World is Still Beautiful from last season is probably my fave protagonist/characterization in a while. Does Momoka from Sabagebu count? lol

Started watching this yesterday to take a break from all the seriousness and despair of Fate/Zero and I'm surprised to find myself liking alot of the characters here so far. I didn't like the first episode all that much where they tried that documentary style but I have been liking everything since then. Favorites so far have to be Makoto, Chihaya, and Takane (funny).

So Hana disappeared , because she is afraid our MC will hate her if she learns the truth of her existence, this result in her meeting the last design children and then trying to escape will being pursued

If only you were asking yourself this question 10 eps ago ....

Meanwhile at the corporation , someone is finally realising that something is wrong and that puck well is as evil as you think he is ..i mean this was obvious, your insurrance was bogus heck you should have taken inssurance on your side yourself before setting up ALONE with something you can't trust.
But i don't mind this turn of events since the escape plan was doomed from the start IMO , now we trully have a third party with their own agenda that is going to mess -up everything one day ... this sub plot 's cool.

If that wasn't enough, we have a serie of kisses that would probably won't get me' banned if i giffed them but still intresting to see considering how much of a change they do;

We finish by a big battle and hana new power manifesting .... because everyone who is in mecha anime know the answer .

Not to mention they were pretty much going with a monster of the week format which I hate so much because it makes battles predictable and leaves no tension since the writing is terrible.

I'm watching this as well. It doesn't seem to have much plot progress through each episode. Seems to be something like P&S with 15 minute episodes. Its quite funny and the characters are very charming. I skipped a few but I'm on episode 9 right now. What happens at 25. There are over 200 -____-

Lum is cute and all but I kinda want the MC to get with his childhood sweetheart. I mean they were both together before her arrival and their feelings are mutual.

Man, this anime is strange. I can't really say I knew what to expect but this sure is something. Don't think i've seen something so densely atmospheric and deliberately paced like this in quite a while. Just in terms of the tone and pacing, something about this anime feels vaguely Silent Hill-is and I'm really liking it. I guess that episode 10 would have been the end of Act 1? Really looking forward to where this goes.

So I just rewatched the episode again(now with commentaries, which I normally never do). I've spent way too much time today on just this episode.

Cool post but I must add about the use clouds and it's colors to help signify the feelings of any particular scene like red clouds as a sign of danger etc. Also, Renton's hair pointing in the opposite direction in some scenes to give him a more mature and serious look.

I say this cause Miyaji and Yoshida talked about it in the commentaries

After watching the commentaries, a few new points they mentioned which I didn't pick up.

I didn't really pick up on the light play. The light acts as a physical barrier to represent the emotional barrier between Holland and Eureka. In addition to that, the amount of light on them could represent the 'purity'/clarity of their feelings.

This blew my mind. I never picked up on this being an actual

confession scene. Renton's jersey works as one of those confession letters in that Holland is holding it but Eureka grabs it from him. Holland confesses to her and she rejects him before running off

. I mean I got the rejection part previously but I never really put that element into the scene.

There's then the whole thing with the clouds which I didn't pick on either. The green signifying go/freedom such as Eureka heading out and the red not only signifying danger from the military but also stop. The clouds clearing up when Renton and Eureka meet, is a really subtle thing.

I forgot the verticality too. Eureka is physically lowering than everybody else, which mirrors her emotional state. Also as mentioned in the commentaries, the camera points up to show her helplessness in the current situation but how her mood, in addition to her physically, is falling as well. There's the scene earlier as well, when Renton comes back to the Gekko-Go, he's surfing above the ship.
