Haikyu - Episode 20-21
Watching these two episodes back to back really showcased how effective the show is at portraying the contrast between Kageyama and Sugawara as setters. This match might be long as fuck, but it sure isn't boring. They've done a great job of using it to really let each member of the team show their strengths and weaknesses, developing the relationship the team has and showing the true different in experience between the seniors and the freshmen. I also love how even though the characters on the other team aren't really developed, just from subtle interactions between them and Oikawa, the audience learns a little bit more about why they're so effective as a team and how strong their bonds are.
Every time I catch up to this show, I'm reminded that this is one of the most satisfying sports anime out there.

Barakamon - Episode 7
Probably the funniest episode so far, and the best episode since the Tokyo guys showed up. I really liked the jokes as well as the general vibe of the episode as a leisurely fishing trip that allows the characters to bond in expected and unexpected ways. There was some pretty great animation at parts too. The moment when it really clicked was when Naru took out her crazy hooks, and there was a slight dramatic pause where I just burst out laughing before everyone on the show did the same. They handled the departure of the characters really well too, making it a solid mid-series sort of climax. I didn't like the newcomers when they first showed up, but the episode actually did a good job of making me feel like I would miss them.
Barakamon - Episode 8
This was a pretty good Naru-centric episode. I like how the show is working hard to strengthen Handa's relationships with the islanders again since the diversions have left. It really feels like he has changed a lot since the start of the series, especially in how willing he is to pro-actively do things. The interactions he has with the various characters here are pretty fun, and while I laughed a lot more at the previous episode, this one felt like it had more moments for the characters to shine in a different way. I wonder if they'll reveal more about Naru though, and what it could mean for the story, since they've been playing the "her parents are never around" card several times now, without actually making it a plot point.
