in digimon 2 during the flash forward ending they show what every character is doing in the future. And they show nobody still together as adults. And Tai as this sweet digimon lawyer with agumon as his partner
so far I'm going with that I don't see it as love interest at all. More like kindred spirits. And I think you did yourself a further disservice by fast forwarding through the motorcycle ride because that's where you saw it most IMHO. She asked "are you going to destroy the entire world" and when he laughed she just smiled. One of us is clearly missing the intent here.. only time will tell which one it is.. Lisa actually drastically moved up a few notches here as interesting. She's a girl so out of place and so lost that she will latch onto anything that doesn't drive her away, even if they are terrorists.
I also was ecstatic that I was thrown for the curve and suckered like everyone else.
and that music.. the music when they were going to the apartment, and on the motorcycle ride.. we'll see where the show ends up at the end of its run... I won't predict anything now... but damn... this is one of the strongest episodes of ANY series I have seen in... well maybe one of the single strongest episodes of any series ever.
About Terror in Resonance, I don't think that there is any romance between Twelve and Lisa.
Both Twelve and Nine were obviously affected by the loss of Five. However, the way they cope with it is different. I see Twelve seeking out Lisa as part of his mentality and how he tries to "replace" (it fits his slightly childish and optimistic/wistful persona) Five in order for him to stop living in the past.
Lisa on the other hand comes across perhaps even more straight forward. "it's really been a long time since I laughed like this". Whatever her circumstances were that pushed her to isolate herself, Twelve and Nine provide a way (in her eyes) to once again be free from the thoughts that plagued her constantly (family and school are at least two things that obviously made her both depressed and suffer from panic attacks; how they interrelate is not clear yet).
Yes, it is not an entirely new concept, but that goes for the terror duos interactions with the police and Shibasaki as well. I'm well and beyond caring for originality as the prime driver for quality and as long as the execution is as good as it has been so far, I can enjoy it.
Digimon is the only anime where "best guy" was a thing for me because girls wouldn't choose them. And yes poor TK worked his ass off all season and didn't get shit.

"one of the best" comes down to the absolute enjoyment of the story and characterizations on top of that music. oh my god that music.
but yeah.. great right up in general. I think there's deeper concepts here than people are giving it credit for. No not the most original. but it goes back to the joke "nothing original has been written since Shakespeare". Quality >>> originality. Without quality it doesn't matter how original your story is(n't). With enough quality even the same story you've seen plenty of times before can still bring a new sense of fun and excitement.
I actually might skip season 2. I never saw the ending of season 3 which I really enjoyed as a kid, and never watched season 4 onwards, so I might watch those.
I should probably watch the first Digimon so I know the proper story since I mostly watched it spontaneously and in a random order when I was a kid because I only saw it at a friend's house.

It was a nicely done scene. I actually wish the riddle game part got dropped way into the background in favor for a more focused character drama. Hopefully, the cat and mouse game won't go the way it usually does at least (perhaps Shibasakis curiosity will lead into some interesting engagements).
I understand the insane pricing for the Digimon set. Who's going to buy it anyway, outside of mad otaku who will pay that price? As much as we're all waxing nostalgic about it here, it's not exactly a property that loads of people will care to spend money on - some old kids show from 15 years ago. As excited as people my age get about Ulysses 31 et al getting disc releases, I suspect it's more about the novelty and nostalgia of it existing rather than actually wanting to own a copy.
To celebrate this auspicious day in which Digimon received a sequel, but more importantly, the Digimon movies are getting BD releases, I rewatched the original Hosoda pilot from 1999.
Yep, still fucking amazing, still pretty much the best thing Hosoda's ever done.
There's no reason for berserk anime to release with the movies and the manga as far as it is. If anything just get the new arc started in movie plz, and also get off the damn boat in the manga plx.

Of course there's a reason; the original anime is a classic! Not to mention Berserk is popular, so people will buy it. I think it's just a matter of "when" when it comes to the original anime getting a BD release.
Plus the TV series is better than the movies anyway. Sorry, but that CG really ruined them for me!
So why don't Japanese schoolboys bring their porn to school anyway? Just keep it at home, and if you're willing to share, bring your friend to your home, or have some secret base or something...
He took the hint and he actually didn't bother her with crush fantasies in the second half of the show. Partly because he was too focused on becoming Ken's buddy.
Davis/Daisuke does grow and become less of a terrible person, but that's not something people would know based on the gagdub it got.

No, I still don't care enough about either Nine or Lisa and what ever pseudo-relationship they have going on to put myself through that tedium again. Anyway, while the integration was about as smooth as sandpaper, you are correct that the dynamics have changed and maybe that will be enough to garner even a smidgen of investment.
