I should note that there is some discussion/argument that the scene is someone installing a control system into her lower back. I think though that's somebody's conjecture rather than seeing the actual scene. The storyboarding in any case does seem to imply that some form of assault occurred just due to the number of people coming out of the event who have that impression.

Show sounds fucking terrible either way though. Either it was boring enough that nobody watching gave a shit about any of the details or they went for full shock value.
Yeah, that just sounds like a hentai.

So its just the toothbrush scene? It's not porn but it might as well be?

I wonder how similar that Ange thing over that what Kuroshitsuji already pull..

Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler's spoiler
I always thought the protagonist (12 yo boy) implied raped by pedophile cult in the backstory.. until the new season of anime kinda confirmed he just forcefully branded in lower back area for some sort of crazy ritual.

I actually expect similar thing in this Ange's case, some sort of contrived shit to justify tattoo in asscheek.

Don't do this to me man. I'm not young anymore. I don't know if my heart can take this ride. That crazy wording, man. I don't know what to believe or where to begin.

I think I'm gonna go take a long shower and forget about this so I don't OD on hope.

I'm looking forward to the PSVita game being announced.

Fucking Christ. Someone wrote up the first two episodes of Cross Ange, as they were at the premiere. Shit sounds worse in context.

I can't

How did nobody put the brakes on this?

This show deserves an award if it can out-Valvave, Valrave within the first 2 episodes.

An award of recently shat turds

Also Fukuda is the producer which means we'll likely also see him try to 1-up SEED Destiny.

The Rose of Versailles - 05

The final battle between Antoinette and du Barry occurs, with
Antoinette
ultimately losing in the end, along with a failed murder attempt committed towards the Dauphin. Loved the visuals in this episode, very striking and dynamic, and they fit the tone perfectly. The part when
one of the aunts pulled Antoinette away from du Barry before she got to speak to her
fucking killed me. So good.

I actually watched the first two episodes a really long time ago.

It was worth it to rewatch it though, as my critical eye has matured a lot since then.
I'm by no means great at spotting various film and cinematic techniques used in series but rewatching episode 1 and paying attention to all the little details showed me how much they actually did for the episode.
I was going to make a post about it but reading through it made me just look like I was trying to hard.

Crest of the Stars Episode 7:
Shame her love interest is such a pile of useless flesh wrapped up in a terrible haircut that they even acknowledge it in-unverise. I hate that by the way, just because you know he is a plank of wood does not make this better.
Throughout the series Jinto is more of an overly pessimistic character. Whether this is down to him being a "lowly human" mixing in the upper echelons of Abh society or because of the rejection from his own people is unknown.
Regardless, you're right it does get very annoying. He does have a few stand out moments in the show in it's entirety but most of the more memorable scenes typically involve the Abh.

The Rose of Versailles - 06

Antoinette heads to Paris in high spirits to get familiar with the citizens she'll rule over in the future. Meanwhile, we cut to the set of Les Miserables and learn of two sisters of noble blood living in the slums, with one of them scheming for a way to get out. On top of that, another character named Fersen surveys Paris and notes of the dire state it may succumb to. Also, another failed assassination attempt.

This is getting a lot more complex than I thought it'd be, and I'm really hooked... and three years have passed since the beginning of the series? Damn, time is moving fast here.

Well, it is also he has the screen presence of a wet tissue and, well, basically they stuck a harem protagonist in here and it is working out about as expected. It does make him easy to ignore save for when the plot tries to make him important in some fashion then it comes off as contrived.

Ashita no Nadja 13-15 (Swiss Arc)

Now for these episodes, I can find a running theme. Acts of kindness and deceptive appearances. That goes not only for what's going on in Switzerland, but also in the somewhat extensive amount of time episode 15 spends back in Vienna showing the lives of Nadja's real family. (Herman is slimy. This is not new, I just wanted to mention it.) The Francis train is all but confirmed, and the same irony I brought up with Nadja back at the end of the England arc is in full force here. The idea of her trying to apply Noblesse oblige as simple atruism, thinking she's a commoner even when she really isn't - does show a lot of the texture of the show. I'm also seeing the show emphasizing the importance of families.

Like how Zabie was raised in the orphanage being
the only girl
, and the similar reveal that Chocolat is really a white lion, George is just dyeing his fur. I tried to think of anime that were set in Switzerland that this show could be drawing from, and it's almost certainly Heidi. Nadja's dress was very much what one thinks of when they think of Switzerland. And the Alps-crossing episode was pretty tense for this show. Even Hannibal had a tough time with that one, the Dandelion car needed Nadja's song and some last minute strongman strength.

The merchandising nature of it can't be helped, and this show still has a real sense of adventure to it. To Italy!

Free! Eternal Summer Episode 13 [End]

Definitely one of the best cases of an anime improving in its second season and not getting worst. Had slightly feared that would happen with Free! but like Utapri it beat the odds and became even more amazing than it already was. Every episode was amazing (though episode 12 is still one of the best things animated, just about everything I needed and wanted from Free!).

Really good moments and emotions in this final episode and a new song great. Rin Momo getting screentime and lots of lines was one of the best minor things as well as Samezuka's pose. I need a poster of it.

Cant wait to own it. RinHaru forever, and Momo.

Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Great write up, I agree with everything and I don't think you'll find many who will argue that the assault was not the weakest part of the series. I didn't mind it that much (maybe because I already read the manga?) but I certainly will acknowledge all it's faults.
I'll agree with Nintendoman in adding the
Requiem for Uvogin
episode, but 125/126 and 131 were the best, waited a long ass time to see that animated.

Well, I guess this will be the second Valvrave for real. Even kind of looks like it.

Here we go. It's time for the final dungeon and such. I can see all of the 1v1 face offs already.

What even is this? This sounds absolutely horrible. If that's the bar they set, I really don't want to see more of it.

Don't play with my heart, please. I want to believe.

So... Jormungand. Well-made, good music too, but the whole premise is iffy as fuark. Ironically enough, one of the secondary characters calls the MC out about the utter unrealism of the plan. Though owing to a smidgen more than a bit of megalomania, the MC brushes off said comment.

Of course you knew it though. I mean, c'mon.

And this for some inexplicable reason before I even started episode 1: https://twitter.com/MetroidPrimeRib/...45631085654016

It was as if you had some sort of strange insight into the matter...
Final and definitive proof that Char is infact a newtype.

Crossange doesn't sound "super dark" or "edge" at all from the descriptions. It just sounds like smut pseudo-porn like Queen's Blade or whatever, except with mechs. :p
So can we talk about it?!

Sunrise, what are you doing?
Sunrise things.

…

in some ways the 80's never really left
We still get Gundam shows you know!

They were too busy discussing whether revealing attire is sexist.

The Rose of Versailles - 07

The sparks ignite not only between Antoinette and Fersen as they meet for the first time, but when Oscar, Andre and some-other-dude-who's-been-in-the-series-since-the-first-episode-but-I-don't-remember-his-name-since-he's-been-in-the-background-most-of-the-time uncover another plot be du Barry against Antoinette.

Seriously, when has going to a masquerade ball ever gone well for someone famous?

I kind of feel like the anime never settles into a position where it can say anything that's very grounded about parenthood as a whole. Its truncated form only covers a very short span of time, and its all so incredibly romanticized that it's hard to feel like there's much credibility in place. Coming to a place of acceptance that Usagi Drop targets an audience that are not parents is important to understanding the text, and holding the series less accountable for lacking much veracity.
Well said, though I'm not sure I agree with that last bit. That would make it more accountable in my eyes, if I understand what you are saying.
Welp, so much for planning on watching that show. *Removes from list* The initial previews looked so promising, too...
ಠ_ಠ
I'm really worried by this trend of mixing fanservice with ugly, vomit-inducing, 'shock for the shock value' nastiness.
In the realm of hentai, eroticism and violence often go hand in hand. The line between anime and hentai is getting blurrier. :|

The Rose of Versailles - 08

After Oscar attains an injury from saving Antoinette from a horse-riding incident, Andre questions his friendship with Oscar and how he may be getting in the way.

Probably the first episode I'd count as filler, as nothing really happens here outside of some character development for Oscar. He's been around since the beginning, and has mostly been there to help Oscar out, so it's good to see him get some time in the spotlight.

Gurren Lagann 05

Now this was an interesting episode. The village leader making some tough choices to ensure that the village can sustain itself. It's both understandable and terrible at the same time.

You are watching Gurren Lagann first time? I envy you. It's sooo goood.

Too bad Rin is off in Australia fighting kangaroos while Makoto and Haru are totally banging in Tokio!

LOOKS LIKE GARZEY'S WING

Oh shit it does!
Mostly the goose and overall silliness.
Only one thing can ever BE Garzey's Wing.

The latest PV for next season's Sora no Method, featuring the ED and OP by fhána and Larval Stage Planning, respectively:

I don't really know why, but I have high hopes for this series.

Its the music and atmosphere most likely. Otherwise its just moeshit. The sort I will happily watch.

Is this considered going overboard when everything shown here was bought 33 to 70 percent off at RightStuf?

IMG_1654.jpg

Hell no. Do what you dream! Surround yourself with happy things!

Steins;Gate - 1

So is this gonna turn into: "Save States, the anime?" Lol.

Not gonna lie, this is definitely an interesting concept. Characters are okay so far as well.

Not bad for a first episode.

Steins; Gate is one of my favorites. Pay attention to every little thing, you never know what might be relevant later.

Think of every assassin except for Esdeath and that Night Raid leader with the mechanical arm as pointless to the story. The show becomes much more clear that way.

As long as Esdeath is relevant then its ok!

She's got a ways to go to catch up to Shampoo.

Shampoo hasnt got much competition. She is as cute as Lum from UY and thats quite a feat.

Mushishi 1

Quite the atmospheric and ethereal beginning.

The atmosphere is phenomenal. It is paced in a way that I cant bring myself to watch it except in certain moods but thats not really a fault of the show. I could see people getting bored with it though. It is without a doubt absolutely beautiful though.
