Is this Monster Musume show actually good? Or is it the 'so bad it's good' kind? I thought Anime-GAF hated harem shows but it kinda seems like everyone is watching this one.

It's not even good by harem standards. It's just an adaptation of a boring, but popular manga so people know about it.

Shokugeki no Soma 12

The characters are really starting to open up and gain some depth to their personalities. Certainly Shinomiya's backstory created a much greater understanding of his character, but this episode also fleshed out Tadokoro, Soma, and Dojima to various degrees. This series has been more or less enjoyable to watch from the beginning, but now I'm really beginning to be invested in it.

God Eater 01

I played the game, but I'm still not sure why this exists. Even though God Eater had some resemblance of a plot, no one plays hunting games for the stories, so making a high budget anime based on one seems silly. Especially since the plot is so freaking similar (I know God Eater came first, but still) and the first episode does a poor job explaining the world. Animation was good at least even though the artstyle going to take some getting used to.

Also, exclusive to Daisuki.net? What the hell? Do they want this to not get noticed in the west?

Blanca is a useless familiar. Pierre is terrible at being loyal to his cause. Though he was brainwashed, so eh. A pity Vanilla couldn't keep up the evil act. She was good at it. The Unicorn as the final test is a bit disappointing seeing how most of their struggles were on Earth. Onto the finale.

I always thought a Monster Hunter anime would be interesting. It would be something a bit like DanMachi (without the harem parts): a group of 4 hunters the goes around hunting the monsters. The plot could be something simple like MH4 (
Huh there's these monsters going crazy with Frenzy. Ah it was Gore-kun that did it, go hunt it. Yay you did it! Oh what the frenzy is back. Gore Magala has evolved into Shagaru Magala! Hunt it, pretty please? Yay you did it! Now for the actual meat of the game with the actually hard monsters and the despair that is the Desire Sensor.
), and it would be focused with the relationship between these hunters and how they get creative in dire situations when hunting. Just some simple fun action adventure anime.

And that's actually what I'm expecting from God Eater. I just want them to fight some monsters, while looking cool and building relationships.

Monster Musume 2

Papi was cute even if she's a bit dumb. Cerea was meh, like I don't know why anyone would like her a lot because her personality is pretty boring. She's not shit but she's not great either just meh. At least her voice fits perfectly with her character. Smith and her legs, oh lawd.😚

MON spinoff when?

Honestly the main reason to watch this anime is for MON squad and Smith, and maybe Rachnera.

The last time I really encountered monster girls was with +Anima which is a billion years old.

This episode made me love this series.

It would have been so easy for the author of this manga to just
make Shinomiya the one-note prejudiced chef to act as a bad guy for Soma to defeat and save Megumi.

But instead, the author added this great depth that explained why he made his decision and why he was so passionate about perfection. Almost like he was an actual human being rather than a stereotype for people to look forward to getting crushed by the main character.

That along with showing how much of a boss Dojima was, along with Megumi taking the spotlight and Soma actually having to taste defeat for once.

It's just such a great episode.

Well what do you know the Anime adaptation is mentioning how Monster Musume made it to the #1 New York Times manga bestseller list. So they know they have a big following in the West.

That's pretty interesting.

What I think works about that episode is that the author clearly needs Soma cut down to size to some extent and instead of having the showdown revolve around him, he still can have that goal while also expanding on the side characters.

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-Chan 7

You know Anime doesn't really have "trip to the hot springs" episodes very often. A shame this one wasn't that funny or interesting to watch.

God Eater 01
Also, exclusive to Daisuki.net? What the hell? Do they want this to not get noticed in the west?

God Eater production committee:
Bandai Namco Entertainment (video games/original creator)
Bandai Visual (video disc publisher/distributor)
ufotable (animation production/store merchandise)
Lantis (music publisher)
Anime Consortium Japan (international rights management/streaming)

Daisuki is the public arm of Anime Consortium Japan, a venture by Bandai Visual, Aniplex, and several other companies to provide a center for streaming that's not exclusive to certain regions (ex. Funimation simulcasts). They also handle home video rights for certain shows (like God Eater and Cinderella Girls). Making shows exclusive draws more viewers to them with proper promotion at cons and such (though more grassroots movements need to occur).

Well, the ending battle was pretty cool, but something felt missing/incomplete in the story. They could easily do a second season to open up the world more as well as start explaining the mystery of the dragons. Also, there are a bunch of loopholes with multiple characters/relationships so an extention to sort it all out would be great. Sister... wait, not a real sister!?
Also, the fanservice completely went away for most of the second half as the story got more serious. However, a couple more lighthearted moments could have actually helped the pacing and added a more consistent tone. Even with that, I was entertained throughout the series and the OP and EP's were pretty catchy as well.

someones mad it wasnt kobayashi
Naw, I'm pretty sure she's done porny roles before. I just didn't bother with shit like Queen's Blade because she still had a career back then. This is like watching Linda Hamilton show up on anything she can get because her best role was 20 years ago and no one else cares about her. lol

firehawk makes so many live action tv references with every post he's kind of like the Cline of this thread.

That was fast, and a bit unsatisfying. I can tell that they sort of made up this ending on the spot. It didn't really wrap up anything on Earth, though the Magic World and Cinnamon were at least figured out. Pierre as well. Of course Chocolat would become queen after the stunt Vanilla pulled with the Ogres.

I liked it. Despite the odd premise (stealing the hearts of humans sounds like the plot of a Sailor Moon villain), it worked out well, both the Earth scenes and the Magic World adventures. Characters were good more often than not. Vanilla was sickeningly sweet, but her hidden pains made her fine. Duke was a decent familiar all things considered (his identity was never disclosed), but Blanca was terrible. Robin was fun, and Glacier was cool. Candy was a terrible queen though. Woo and Soul were fine as Chocolat's knights. Waffle and everything related to her were terrible. Easy to tell she was filler. The Earth kids ranged from childish (they are 10) to friendly (the girls and most boys) to creepy (I'm unconvinced the Members are anything other than demons). Pierre managed to be an effective villain. Kind of creepy as a love interest, though I guess it won't be much of an issue when they get older.

The main reason to watch this was Chocolat. She was a great protagonist. She was filled with spunk, and was always trying to do something. Maybe she failed more often than not, but doing stuff was great. She had the sort of aggressive attitude that is fun to watch (lots of butt-whupping), but she also was very kind to people who didn't antagonize her. She had her soft side, her weaknesses, and much more that made her fun to watch. Basically, I want her to be the next Pretty Cure protagonist. More magical girl shows could use someone like Chocolat Meilleure.

Now, what to watch next? I'm curious as to what all these idol shows are like. Perhaps Aikatsu?
