Summer Anime 2015 |OT2| !? Love Live is not real!

There's usually one or two shows a season that people look back on, and say it wasn't worth watching on any level.

I would argue that as terrible, mind fuckingly terrible, as the ending was, Gangsta was still worth watching.

But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone now. Because I'm more or less recommending them to watch a show, and then go read the manga.

Charlotte is the show that I think people regret watching the most this season, because no one really watched Chaos Dragon.

Well, since now all the shows I've been watching this season have ended (except Overlord), here's my season statistic~

Completed
Charlotte - 4
Durarara!!x2 Ten - 8
Fate something something Illya - 6
God Eater (though that's not completely over yet): 7
Overlord - probably 7
Rokka no Yuusha: 9
Shokugeki no Soma - 10
Symphogear Gx - 8
Ushio to Tora - 8.5

Dropped
School Live - 1.5 episodes: the twist was pretty cool, but the moe slice-of-life segments were too boring to continue this and it looks like they took up the vast majority of time
Gangsta - 9 episodes: really liked what I watched, but from the impressions of the ending it seems like I should just read the manga
Gatchaman Crowds insight - 4 episodes: didn't really grab me like the first season. Might finish sometime later, though.
Himouto! Umaru-chan - 2 episodes: had some funny and cute moments here and there, but half the time it was just meh.
Kuusen Madoushi - 9 episodes and I don't even know why I watched so much of this, because there's not a single good thing I could say about it.
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace - 1.5 episodes: weak mystery and I didn't like the constant constrant between the 'serious' mystery and the overly anime elements.

A few episodes behind

Why the fuck are A-1/Aniplex announcing another season of Nanatsu no Taizai?

If it's a sequel then it's going to be completely rushed due to the first season covering 103 chapters out of 142.

Because it's really, really popular?

Aldnoah.Zero's first cour had a great ending. I'll give it that.

Should've ended the anime with that.
/s

What, that ending sucked. It made no sense and only existed to shock horror people because wow 3 characters got killed (for essentially no reason other then Slaine is a moron) oh wait they didn't actually die because the writers are a bunch of hacks

There will be no subtitle since, based on extensive research, all threads that have subtitles have resulted in despicable lewd behaviour and the next thread will be a lewd free zone.

Nonsense. You can't stop me from watching Valkyrie Drive.

Aldnoah.Zero was the worst mecha I've ever watched.

I hate every aspect of that show.

I was watching season 1 together with a friend. Our source of entertainment was laughing at how ridiculous everything was.

It was pretty entertaining.

I watched 1 episode of season 2 and that was enough. Them retconning the already stupid ending was too much for me.

Char's Counterattack and Evangelion 3.33 are worse for me on the basis of being attached to good shows and ruining characters I liked.

People in Aldnoah may be morons but they aren't as stupid as everyone in those two movies. Especially Quess and Hathaway.

Aldnoah's first season was good. The second one seems like a complete parody of the first. Inaho was already God in the first, but in the second he is God in every goddamn second. Every other character in that show is completely useless. Not to mention that (s2 ep1 spoilers)
no one fucking died.
I still enjoyed the fights lol

Arslan Senki - 25 [End]

Really like the interactions between Etoile and Arslan, the performance by her VA in the start of the episode was great.
Shame the show starts to get me interested again as it ends. I did find it odd how Takehito was casted, but it makes more sense now I guess.

Would most likely watch a second season, with a (please for the love of Odin) bigger budget.

Dragon Ball Super 12
So much yelling, so much reality shattering, and extending the fight for at least another episode when the universe should have been destroyed by now

Working!!! episode 13

I guess Takanashi's mother is so evil that they conclude it in 13 episodes. Bring on the TV OVA! Gogo Mahiru,
rescue your princess from the dark lord.

Alright, finished our weekly stream. Short opinions:

Gangsta 12 - A great anime completely destroyed by the lack of ending. They did a Naru Taru on us.

Soma 24 - S2 fucking when?!

Ninja Slayer 24 - I still love this show. And damn, that soundtrack. <3

Akagami 12 - Stuff happend, I guess. Not sure if I will watch season 2 though, I found it mostly boring.

Animator Expo 31 - It's Me! Me! Me! v2. I knew it!

Mutant Turtles: Choujin Densetsu-hen 01 - Why does this glorious masterpiece only have two episodes? I was laughing the whole time, it's so unbelievably bad it's great!

Not to be a dick, but people actually thought any part of Naru Taru was good? (I ask because I really found it to be the biggest melodramatic slog)

Well, I thought it was okay. But it also had this non ending. Like, go read the other 4 volumes, we will never animate it anyways.

Oh God I watched Shadow Star way back when for some reason, I don't even know why. Even if I hated Madoka and TTGL, I still see quality there. Shadow Star just perplexes me, I mean, why did I even watch it? Its so unlike me to watch something like that. I think the logic behind watching it was the source material was done by the same person who did Bokurano, but in that case you'd think that I'd read the manga, no idea why I watched it at all. This was of course a long ass time ago. Never again. One of the many mysteries of life, why did I watch it?

Has anime affected your unconscious mind?

We question why we watch a lot of things.

I don't know why I sat through the Gundam 00 movie. Because I wanted to see why it was commonly labeleld as the worst Gundam product of all time, I think? I can't remember.

That film was so bad I couldn't finish it in one sitting. It was months after I started a quarter of it that I decided to finish it. Why? For completionist's sake I guess. Just to get it over with.

Big mistake. Though at least the film gave me a nice reaction image that I keep forgetting about.

The Big Battle scenes were definitely underwhelming (what with massive CG armies), but man the one-on-one fight scenes were really great, more often than not, I thought.

Unfortunately not only the big battles, there was plenty of QUALITY spread throughout, most noticeable at people slightly far away from the camera, and in the facial areas.
I agree with you on the one-on-one fights, they were pretty cool for the most part.

Yeah I guess that's true, but it didn't really stand out to me as particularly egregious compared to everything else happening this season. I guess, for me, they put their budget in the right place.

Fafner: Dead Aggressor - Exodus 11-13

That entire last fight was amazing, and what a cliffhanger to leave off on. Really looking forward to 2nd cour now.

they're padding this arc with everything possible and they're still trying to be funny and miserably fail to do so since Vegeta's episodes.
also to me it seems that they're trying really hard to make each episode look uglier than the previous one which already looked like shit. kudos~

meanwhile the manga concluded the battle in like 2 panels and already introduced the Freeza boys.

Ah! My Goddess ep.1-3
I think I'm back to watching too many shows at once again, lol. However, this one may be old, but it's been pretty entertaining and fun to watch so far. The VA's are pretty good and the college age of the characters at least gives it a different feel from the normal HS anime feel. This one goes for 2cours, so I'm interested to see where they go with the story since thus dude wished to have the goddess live with him forever, but now has to grow up and man up real quick.

I am guessing you're watching the TV series not the OVA. I watch the show and I am a fan of Ah My Goddess series. I will say this, you're going to either love or hate this show if you don't mind campy feel as season 1 feel that way. They will be situation which push the story forward but don't expected too much in the story driven till the 2nd season which is when they push it forward from the comfort zone. Still, wish you like the show and hope you like it.

And don't expect romantic progress, take it as a slice of life show.

Yea I'm not sure I'm feeling this. So far it's like the 2nd half of a Platinum game where the old enemies have a color swap and somehow are immune to your attacks. "These aren't Noise despite looking down on similar. No these are uber Noise". I'm not sure I'm down with this 'These super strong enemies came out of nowhere' aspect. Also Carol isn't exactly compelling so far either.

Seriously, they don't push it forward at all? Is it a waste of time watching all 24 episodes then?

Nekomonogatari Black 04 END

I liked that and I still like Hanekawa as a character quite a lot. I am a bit disappointed it didn't go back as far as I thought it would to do the Araragi/Shinobu stuff but I guess that will come later.

I assume Tsubasa Tiger is the first Monogatari Second Season arc. I know there are recap episodes in that, no reason to watch them right?

No its not a waste of time (well unless all you care about is seeing them together as a romantic couple). But then I rather love the show and it was basically my first anime.

Which I guess if true to the manga which took what 30 real world years to get them married.

If your measure of whether or not something is a waste of time is how much romantic progress is made, then I suppose. But it's a pretty enjoyable slice of life show.

I really enjoy SoL stuff, so if it's good on that front I'll hang with it. At least I know not to expect anything from a romanc standpoint ahead of time (although, it is tagged as such), lol..

Don't say that so loudly, you will start to anger the masses waiting for Kizu...

That stuff is in Kizumonogatari, whose film adaptation was announced back in 2010 and there's still no word on when/if it'll ever come out. Tatsuya Oishi, the director of Bakemonogatari, was attached to Kizu and has done essentially nothing on any released anime since Bake, so I assume he's still working on it... somewhere. Well, even if it's become vaporware, the old trailer is still fun to watch.

Gangsta 12

Holy crap you guys weren't kidding. This is the worst cliffhanger I've ever seen. I'm part of the problem though because there's no way that I won't pick the manga up after that.

man fuck this series

Well it looks like Monogatari Second Season is the real sequel to Bakemonogatari, so this should be good at least. Some of these arc names are ominous

Are you going in to see some love relationship developing (from been friend to be in love to get marry and have kids)? If that's what you expecting to get from this show, then you will leave disappointed. You will see some love relationship with Belldandy and Keiichi during the show and some episodes will push that and see if Keiichi do love Belldandy or not. Most of the time, you see how Belldandy help other people in the show to the point she is literally the perfect woman in almost everything.

I guess if you want some sort of idea of how the show feel like, I guess Ai Yori Aoshi come up in my mind as it have the similar tone. More of the fun stuff between the main character with a slice of romance here and there.

I do wish you don't drop the show that quick but change your exception when going into the show. It's still a fun show to watch and get more interesting in season 2 when Belldandy you know in the 1st season change quite a bit and learn about a feeling she never feel before.

I'm almost 99% certain that they just decided that they should just do the movie as a finale to the series.
