I'm not watching it because I'm not gonna listen to high pitched voiced goku. Waiting for dub

Yeah, it's kind of bad...I would imagine that by the time it gets to the US they will use the home release versions which will looks less like poop as well. I mentioned in the OT, but episode 11 is the first time in a while where you are not constantly seeing terrible art everywhere.

Honestly 2014 has been better than 2015 so far.

It had Ping Pong, Space Dandy, Barakamon, Nozaki-kun, D-Frag, Haikyuu, and Noragami

Mushishi, Silver Spoon, Bahamut, etc...

Man you all do this to me on purpose, don't you.

If we're talking stuff that "revolutionized the medium," (for better and for worse) I'd say Haruhi heading off the entire LN boom as we know it continuing to this day might qualify.
I think it more to popularize the medium instead revolutionized it. Same goes with madoka that it popularize dark magical girl genre

Symphogear Season 1

iCJcMRnm.jpg

Symphogear is retarded. It is writing that wouldn't pass a primary 6 english class and is some of the silliest things I've seen in the genre of Mecha Magical Girl and that is saying something.

And yet it works; the over the top attacks with Desktop worthy "attack shout" splash images, the commander who I am convinced is a JoJo, the use of christianty as the Super Robot pre-requisite Predicesor Race it all works, it's all batshit insane and it is GLORIOUS to behold.

So yeah, give it a shot. You might just have fun and what if you're doing if not watching anime to have a good time?

welp, here I go.

I'm still stuck after episode 18. The first however many episodes are just bad.

I've heard some say the first 50 are bad, but most say the first 20.

I just needed to stop after 18. It wasn't funny.
I'll watch more eventually, and everyone assures me that it gets funnier later, but man...

I go slowly, so don't get too excited.

Also, I have a pretty good sense of what the plot is for the season. I'm going to keep an open mind though.

You have another one waiting for your thughts when you finish it : D

Most of times I enter this forum to see if someone is watching Clannad : /

Bakemonogatari 15 END

Oh so that's where that breaking down and crying .gif comes from. And the neck licking blood geyser .gif. Huh.

That was a pretty good show. I appreciate how the show could maintain being visually interesting when the majority of the scenes were just talking, it's that Shaft style taken to a weird extreme, it's at least on par with SZS on that front. It also seems like Bake was a near perfect combination of director + original source material. I read Medaka Box before and this is different but Nisio's writing style + Shinbou's (if that is his real name) directing style is an excellent match. Also it's kind of weird how nobody seems to exist in Shaft shows outside the main characters. I kept an eye out and I am pretty sure you never see anyone that isn't a named character, outside of silhouettes and artistic representations. I can see how the show would not be for everyone, the flow and style of the conversations is rather obtuse. I guess at it's core Bakemonogatari would be an LN harem series. The average MC who loves to protect things gets relationships with a tsundere, tomboy, loli, childhood friend, a vampire, his imoutos (I assume?) and the class rep all while tackling the supernatural. Given a different execution, it would fall in line with 100 other shows like Absolute Duo or Invaders of the Rokujyouma?! or... something else. Aside from the direction, the storyline features actual progress, the bane of every harem series. While some would probably complain about the isolated nature of each story, that works great for developing one character at a time and showing the different relationships they have with Ararararararagi, of which I would say Kanbaru and Senjougahara have the most entertaining to watch. The characters also have weird, atypical quirks. For example, Senjougahara is the intelligent, arrogant, tsun-tsun sadist but in her scenes with Ararararagi as a double act, she is actually the boke while Araragi is the tsukkomi when normally (almost always) it would be the other way around. Kanbaru is the tomboy type, who usually blushes up and starts stuttering at any sign of anything of the sexual nature. Kanbaru is actually the sexual one, making jokes about being Arararagi's love slave or trying to find his porno magazines because it's useful to know other people's fetishes (true.) There are other examples but those are the standouts for me. I'll start on Nise sometime, I dunno when yet.

Also it took until the actual last frame of the entire show to realize Senjougahara uses staplers because they are like a crab's claws. I am not a clever man.

Ah, good good. I thought those first two episodes sucked, but people seem to like the next 20~ to a varying degree. It gets good at 25 imo.

I think my attempt to watch this petered out at episode 4.

Haibane Renmei 12

Loads and loads of stuff to be properly tied in, explained and resolved in the last twenty minutes. So much in fact that I'm starting to get worried about the manner of that ending. Thought that things would already start happening here and to some extent, with Reki making up with her old friends, they did but it still was a very leisurely paced ep.

Huh, Funi is releasing Riddle Story of Devil. That yuri assassin show.

Did anyone like that show? I remember watching it, thinking "okay, okay, okay" during the majority of it, and then the ending came.

Fuck that ending. That is the biggest cop out I have ever seen in my life.

Everyone is just okay? EVERYONE!? Are you kidding me? You serious?

Sailor Moon Mondays: Sailor Moon Super S: Episode 142

You may or may not have noticed that these reviews have gotten a lot shorter since the beginning of the season and there is a reason for that, nothing is fucking happening. I mean, all season get into the rut of the monster of the week formula, that was just the business of day but even for this show, jack shit is happening. This arc always had problems even in the manga, regressing things and trying to the children fairy tale gimmick was ill advised both in the manga and here in the anime. The dream motif is very much alive here in the anime as it was in the manga, it is just here we are getting a lot of generic desires by generic victims that is amounting to so much white noise. Also, good god Usagi has just been intolerable this season having regressed into a girlfriend so clingy and jealous that were they not a fated couple, Mamrou would probably break things off just to get away from this nonsense.ChibiUsa on the other hand, had actually gotten pretty tolerable, about as tolerable as she is ever going to get. Mild recommendation to whatever we need some changes to the landscape and quick

HANAAAAAAAA!

Whoever decide to cast Kana Hanazawa as Hana deserve a raise. Clearly her best role since Nadeko in Bakemonogatari. The BGM also spot on. I laugh so hard when the BGM goes hard rock when Kiyoshi take off his pant in the most epic way possible. Best hate kissing scene ever

Yeh the Monogatari series really succeeds at keeping all that interesting. The Katanagatari anime, whose LN was also written by Nisio Isin, had lots of talking too and simply failed to keep me engaged because they weren't directed interestingly. Arguably I also find the story or characters in Monogatari more interesting but that could be partially because Katanagatari bored me.

Yea, it didn't really help that each episode was 50 minutes at that.

Yet another great episode. Twists and turns abound (totally missed the significance of the scene between Kanba and hmmmm penguin hat princess) but it was also a stark reminder of what is truly at stake in this whole conundrum. I'm and I was vaguely aware of that event but even with the date of it staring at me in the OP and other places and the
all permeating subway imagery, I really didn't expect the 95 terrorist attacks
to make an appearance. Not to mention to be such an important event for the main cast.

I've never given Mawaru much attention because from a cursory look, it seemed weird and quirky and probably not my kind of things but at halfway point, I've to say this show is pretty friggin amazing and a giant surprise. Maybe it crashes in second half and that's why I don't see it mentioned here very often but so far, this is like top10 material. Maybe even top5. I don't think there was a single bad or meh episode yet. And I think it's first show ever in which I always watch the opening. And the ending. And the preview + ending illustrations.

Also, brace yourselfs for more of my picdumps cause this show is pure delight visually.

Sailor Moon Mondays: Sailor Moon Super S: Episode 143

Holy fuck was this episode annoying and it can be summed up in two words, idiot plot. This episode only works at all because somehow Chibiusa is somehow the smartest and most mature character on this program. That is an avalanche of wrongness and the episode seems to be self-aware at some of the problems this is causing point out how most of the Sailor Guardians lack boyfriends and are pretty much a shitty resource for romance. No idea why they lack dates, this has seriously been a curiously of the franchise. Anyway, Chibiusa gets a an offer for a date with the bastard spawn of Captain Tusbasa which in turns makes Fish Eye so creepy even his teammates are creeped out by him and his pedophile ways. Oh right, there is also a mostly pointless B plot about FIsh Eye framing Pegasus with a monster that only serves to throw in a cheap trust exercise. The upshot of everything is the Sailor Guardians finally get an upgrade but no new powers shown this episode. This is something the manga handled so much better as the best part of Dreams was the individual focus each Guardian got on the way to her upgrade. All and all strong recommendation to avoid.

welp, here I go.

The first 2 episodes are just plain bad. Probably the worst in the series.

For me, the show is slow until the first real big arc(around 40 iirc). After that there are better jokes and the serious arcs that appear are great. The first episodes, while I can't say they're all plain bad, they're more boring. Certainly keep watching it even if you don't like most of the first episodes.

idk, the ending to the episode prior seemed way better than the final episode as an ending.

Like a good
tragedy

The whole
alt dimension fixing every problem in after story
stuff just felt like such unneeded bunk and felt cheap. super super cheap

Understandable but I was *somehow* okay with that when I watched it. If contemplate about it now,
I'm pretty sure I'll find it ridiculous but meh.

I don't know what you two hillbillies are talking about. The ending was well planned and executed and the story was amazing..

Of course to appreciate a lot of later episodes you must be familiar with the first episode.

Next Prison School episode will kill us all. I heard that HanaKana really kissed in that scene. Her voice acting in episode 11 was amazing.

The show keeps being entertaining, with episodes 12-13 delving a good bit into the continuity/subplot they have been touching on, though I have to admit that I feel something is really lacking. For example episode 11 could have been so much more if the plot about the missing woman was better executed or if the plot about the rivalry was better executed.

I should note that episode 13 had an interesting hand to hand fight scene, style wise.

Bar some episodes, I'd say the overall feel is an OK but forgettable experience.

With Zenigata having a more prominent role in the next episode I'm raising my expectations though.

I thought this one was much later. Yeah, that's a great early episode. :p

That's like Episode 24 or 25. I don't know how many weeks or even months I needed in order to get past the first ~20 episodes. But once I reached this part, the show started to get really good. And at around episode 40 the first serious arc starts. Then Gintama starts to show that it can do so much more than just be comedy.

The first comedic episode that works with most people here seems to be 25. 50+ is when the show starts having longer serious stories alongside the comedic episodes, which is probably why some people mention that (there's actually a serious story in the 40s too, but in terms of direction and such it was still very close to the comedic episodes, while the later ones stand out more). The jokes also get dirtier later.

Only got time to watch last week's Non Non Biyori this saturday, and it was so awesome! Hotarun finally getting some deserved screen time in Repeat, and it was nothing short of amazing. Mama!!

Rokka and GATE were also preeeetty damn good, can't wait for the next season, hopefully it won't take too long.

Gangsta is unfortunately starting to lose me now. It had really strong character development, but I'm not sure about introducing this all new cast at this point, before wrapping things up with the current plot. But we'll see. Is it supposed to be 12 episodes only? I can't see it having a satisfying ending like this.

Not much to say about Umaru, too bad it's ending, I'll remember it fondly. Hoping for a season 2.

What else? Hmmm... Monmusu was as cute as ever, can't wait to rewatch it when the blu-rays come out C:

Still didn't watch Durarara. Maybe today. I also have to watch School Live 11 and the last Shimoneta. Damn you, TGS.

During the course of the show I kept switching my opinion about who it could have been, though from episode 7 onward I was imagining it could have been who it ended up being, though I wasn't sure
I was 50/50 on it being her or Goldov.
Too bad the motivation was only explained in part and that the end is a sort of reset, so I'll need a second season.

This is the story of the future a little bit ahead.

The police and Japan Self-Defence force cannot stop the robot, and the American and Russian robots are sent out to save the situation along with the request from Japanese government and the exhibition association office.
However, because of the horrible power of the Japanese robot, a fight has begun between them.
They fire missiles and shoot energy beam, which should not be loaded, and the area around the venue becomes a battle field.
