I enjoyed him quite a bit...
...Until he finished his arc and they decided to keep him around to maintain the constant Asspull-fest that is the last race of Yowamushi Pedal. Seriously, that last race (which is most of the last season) is completely bullshit.

Herve's story and the background mythology it ties into is much less interesting so far than that of the girls.
It's amusing that director Kou Matsuo himself had a cameo in his episode, voicing one of the teachers.

Most of the series mentioned here are on Crunchyroll or Funimation. If you look at the OP, the shows will have little icons showing which site is streaming them. Netflix and Hulu are usually for older stuff. It's rare to see them simulcast (airing as it airs in Japan) anime.

Yowamushi Pedal 23-25
Andy and Frank are the best characters in this show. I laughed my ass off everytime they were on scene.
Also, they really should stop trying to measure the race in actual values. It's getting even more ridiculous. They say 300m to the checkpoint, then 20min go by and they say 270, then another 10min and 250, then another and 200. One time they say like, 80, then ab guy dodges the cones and there's a scene that shows them getting left behind that clearly spans over 20m in just that shot alone, and then 3min later he says 70m to the finish line.
Lastly, this coach smug face is getting to me. He spoke less in this entire show than the quiet 2nd year, but every goddamn time he appears in the screen he is smiling. It's creeping me out.

The series takes place in an alternate world, staged mostly in the city of Eridana, whose territory is half in the Tseberun Dragon Empire, and half in the Lapetodes Seven Cities Alliance. Each half is separated by the Orielal River. In this world, special abilities called spell formulas (咒式, jushiki) exist, which are essentially chemical reactions augmented through special weapons that cause a magic spell-like effect. These special weapons are called Magic Staff weapons, and are as varied as regular weapons are. Spell formulists use these spell formulas to fight with "Beasts of Abhorrent Form," natural creatures that use spell formulas and pose a threat to humans, such as Dragons, Aions, or Enormes.
The story focuses on the two main characters, Gaius Sorel and Gigina Ashley-Bufh, the only two employees of Spell Formulist dispatch office Ashley-Bufh & Sorel Co. They are met with a variety of requests from a variety of clients, all requiring the adept use of spell formulas.
