A little late, and I haven't been paying attantion to this thread much lately, but in case it hasn't been talked about yet: It looks like our chinese cartoons are overstepping our japanimation. with an esports anime

I'm laughing at both the production values on this thing and how this is probably where the future of sports anime is headed. Also, in before "millennials killed sports anime".

Hotori is an idiot, Hotori is a klutz, Hotori is a deviant. Poor Hotori, she just cannot win at life, lol. This show is pretty damn funny.

Vanilla went all out to try and get Chroniko (yeah, he still doesn't know it's a him in a her body) even though he
gave up both his and his mother's lives to save
him. Loved the way they added the musical track in the background to really make it a really good scene. Really good episode..

Probably my favorite episode in the entire series.

That was a pretty cool way to do a flashback episode that completely makes sense of the story finally. He's been searching so long for his girlfriend this whole time and she has been
right by his side

Alderamin on the Sky - 1

Can't say I really enjoyed this all that much.

I mean, as fantasy LN adaptations go, this certainly isn't bottom-of-the-barrel trash, but it doesn't feel much better than that either.

It's definitely competent, but it's not exactly all that gripping.

I'm not a fan at how quickly things seem to be going. The world-building feels especially rushed. This first episode drops the heroes in the middle of enemy territory but I certainly don't feel like they're in trouble because I haven't gotten much of an impression on who the enemy is.

At least Gundam had the courtesy to spend a lot of time establishing who the Zeon were and why they were a threatening and terrifying force before dropping White Base onto their turf.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes 023

Never forget that one time when Reinhard watched 2,000,000 people die in nuclear fire because it would make good propaganda.

I feel like Oberstein's Meddling kinda muddied Reinhard's potential actions in this situation. But the fact that he even hesitated to save people is what casts him into doubt in the audience's mind. And that's exactly what Kircheis forces him to come to grips with.

Here's a Macross-related bit of trivia: Hiroyuki Yoshino wrote the episode introducing that whole thing and, believe or not, he's also the person who wrote Macross Frontier (to the extent one writes a Macross series under Kawamori, that is). Dude's weird.

For anyone in Vancouver, they added more times and days for the Kizumonogatari showing. Gonna go with a few friends and watch it :)

The Star Of Guidance(by Issui Ogawa) anime announced.

More old novel(2002-2003, total 4 volumes) getting adaption huh, but hey the character designer is Range Murata, so why not.

Earth, which has encountered numerous aliens who have expanded into our galaxy, has established a Ministry of Aid for External Civilisation to elevate them to a spacefaring race. An "External Civilisation Survey Officer" has been dispatched, and aid has begun in secret. However, the discovery and unexpected contact (failure) of "Suoris" by the young Survey Officer Tsukasa Tsujimoto and the three beautiful android girls threatens to throw the galaxy into turmoil........

A first-contact science fiction novel by one of the standard-bearers of modern Japanese sci-fi.

Fitting this from the same series that gave us Roid Brehm, a man of many perspectives.

You have no idea how much my day is made whenever they show his fabulous glasses collection case or him switching his glasses.

Also god damn you worded that amazing.

log horizon season 2 through ep 18

I'm glad I am watching this... mostly because while I likely wasn't going to go this route in the story i am writing (planning far more one piece like team splitting where it's just main characters splitting not going on adventures with side characters), it's clear focusing on secondary characters instead of any sort of main plot can be rather, uninteresting.

like this season isn't bad (well aside from the gag comedy that has been completely off point this season) but it also isn't all that engaging either. I imagine all the side character stuff will lead to the main plot... but... well... I am glad I am watching it in english because there is a decent chance I would have dropped this if I was watching it in japanese.

thus I have to ask now for anyone that has read the light novels. Is the pacing for this stuff better in the novels (aka did the anime draw this out quite a bit) or are the novels just as drawn out as this?

Why do they look like Type-Moon characters?

because cooks of their caliber only come around once in a type-Blue moon o.o;

edit: looks like Re:zero is getting a 5pb video game (aka one we will never see in english but still)

The s2 of the anime is actually faster than the novels. They cut some world building to focus more on characters (which I think was a mistaken choice for LH) and compressed an entire volume into a single episode for episode 14. There was one filler episode though (13, although part of it was based on a manga chapter, rather than the actual light novels).

If i remember right he did not make a choice if he wants to stop the attack or not and that he would decide later, but Oberstien lied about the time of the attack (it was way earlier) and he send a probe to film it.
He did have second thoughts and is partially to blame but he has not allowed it at the end. My assumptions that he would have stopped it since SPOILER
sieg was still allive there

I see... hmmmm. I have the first two books so I suppose i could give them a read. a little sad to hear the novels are slower, but at the same time more world building would help since it seems to be what the series is best at.

If somehow this becomes a dating sim mixed with dark souls... this might actually be interesting (it won't be)
as far as I know 5pb has made one game that isn't a light novelish game and that was the beat em up phantom breaker.

and while I could see a joke beat em up game where you have like a roster of 50 characters which the entire point of the game is beat subaru up be popular as a free game on a website, it wouldn't sell all that well.

we will see, but I expect the typical side story visual novel type game from them.
maybe I will get lucky and nisAmerica will license it like they did the psychopass game.

I haven't seen Legend of Galactic Heroes beyond Overture to a New War which was amazing but reading that it's hard to keep up with character names makes it all the more intimidating.

It won't because it will be a VN, just like most 5pb games.

sorry maybe I should have been a bit clearer then. I mean the VN version of Darksouls. I mean... that would basically be quickloading but whatever.

Well, the show has probably like 10-30+ important characters per side. Everytime someone enters his name is shown. I still don't know names except for a few main guys afer 28 episodes. xD

Looks like the Production I.G. stuff is leaving Netflix on the first. That'd be about a year from when they went up. They might come back, might not, but now's a good time to get to them.

Alpen Rose

20 episode adaptation of a 9 volume 80s shojo manga. Series was popular in Europe, though I preferred to watch it in the original language.

For an 80s shojo it has plenty of action, political thriller and chase scenes as it takes place in WWII Switzerland, Austria and France. There is comic relief as well. I dont think I have seen anything similar for that genre. Maybe Smart-San, but only in the later episodes during the Russian Revolution.

Noteworthy is the character design by Akemi Takada and the music composition by Joe Hisaishi. They make the anime adaptation much better than the manga in a lot of ways.
Some episodes were very well done, especially the live orchestra scene.

Nora

Hilarious and witty scifi 80s OVA based on a manga. Despite the familiarity of the theme, I never felt bored. Such female characters today are a rarity

Macross Delta 21

Not all that surprised about the revelation about Mikumo. Of course the Queen would be that powerful and have something so special about her going on. My prediction about glasses Windie guy is turning out true. Though I can see Keith ensuring no harm comes to his little brother no matter what.
