Summer Game Fest 2022 predictions

Rumors are that Geoff Keighley will be at the show!
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!
FF 16? again?
Not that I think they prepared a second trailer for the game or anything, but I don't see why that would be terribly surprising. We just got a major look at Callisto Protocol and apparently we're going to get another look at SGF.
Knack 2 remake

Why do people think Ragnarok will get a release date here? It will get a release date at its own State of Play just like how Sony has been doing for their mainline titles.
Horizon Forbidden West's release date was announced at Gamescom with Geoff Keighley presenting the trailer.

Square Enix stay SLACKING. 8 years later and the PS4 version of Star Ocean 2nd Evolution hasn't hit the west yet. Japan got it, WHY NOT US?!?
My guess here is Star Ocean is just not doing too good in west and they thought its not worth effort to bring it to west.

I do hope THIS TIME tri-Ace deliver good one with Star Ocean 6 and bring back interest of the whole Star Ocean series for west.

State of Plays are normally announced a week before they are happening.... soa date for the event could be announced this upcoming week, next week, or the one after and so on... there is plenty of time for a State of Play to be announced for God of War Ragnarok. I believe you do not have a clue how Sony schedules their events at all.

Summer Game Fest is not a place for 1st party announcements whatsoever. It's 3rd party and indies.
We'll see. :messenger_winking:

Sony announced the Horizon Forbidden West release date at Gamescom last year via Keighley's Summer Game Fest.

Expecting a God of War Ragnarok release date trailer this Thursday during summer Game Fest. Wouldn't be surprised if it ends the showcase.

I don't consider Gamescom part of Summer Game Fest. Was Geoff streaming it too? I do not remember Gamescom that well from last year.

GOW Ragnarok Release Date - Sony still have enough for a Sept showcase to throw this to Geoffy boy.

I think he did because everything is on The Game Awards Youtube channel including the HFW release date trailer.

If GOWR is releasing in September, it will be at SGF. If it's November or 2023, then I can see it being part of the PlayStation Showcase in September. With that said, im expecting it to close Keighley's showcase.

I don't want to be too delusional so my only prediction is that Capcom is going to flex their RE engine yet again with Dragon's Dogma 2.

It's also possible that that GOWR is planned for September, skips SGF, and gets a dedicated SOP around late June / early July that shows more gameplay, reveals the release date, and opens the pre-orders.

Nintendo likely locked up Triangle Strategy for a year, so don't expect to see any announcements of a PC port until at least next February.

I'd like to see a shadow drop or two of anything. I love shadow drops.

It's possible but three months away, im not expecting a separate State of Play for the game. HFW had a separate SOP because they knew they weren't hitting 2021. I would say that if a State of Play happens for GOWR, expect 2023.

No, actually most SOPs for PlayStation Studios games come right before the release. HFW was one of the exceptions.

  • The Last of Us Part II
    • State of Play = May 28, 2020.
    • Release Date = June 19, 2020.
  • Returnal
    • State of Play = Feb 26, 2021.
    • Release Date = April 30, 2021.
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
    • State of Play = April 30, 2021.
    • Release Date = June 11, 2021.

The closer is Metroid Prime 4. Looks ok.

And between all that: lots of advertisements, games that get announced by a logo only and some performance by fire spitting male belly dancers or whatever

True but a few of those games (Returnal, Ratchet and Tsushima) were either new IP's or doing something new and cool. TLOUP2 and GT 7 were known but at the same time, TLOUP2 had some great combat/gameplay elements that needed to be shown and GT 7 in the first main game in 8 years or so. I simply don't believe that God of War Ragnarok gets a State of Play. But we'll see.

Don't expect this, until Souls Hackers 2 comes out, you won't see nothing on Persona 6.

Atlus is full force on marketing Soul Hackers 2, they won't announce Persona 6 and steal the thunder from that game.
Monster Hunter World 2, trailer
Same story with this, Capcom won't announce new Monster Hunter games years after Sunbreak + title updates comes out.
