Cause scores are altogether garbage and highly flawed way of determining if a game is good or not?

Is not perfect, but they show tendencies, and generally that shows how is the game for the majority of the people. Saying otherwise IMHO is hypocritical. This thread and every review thread in every game shows that the metascore is important. Is not perfect but is ONE measure of the quality of a game.
