Super Best Friends Thread 10: Frienders Support Straight Shota

It's a solid anime, unless you really don't think you can enjoy a shonen story with huge robots, there's no reason not to watch it.

It's not about the robots, it's about the journey of a man! The journey of his soul! It's about doing the impossible and kicking reason and logic to the curb! It's about fighting spirit!
Just who in the hell do you think I am!?

Watch Gintama. You're pretty much describing Gintoki.

People pushing something they really love a lot can definitely grate on the nerves, which is why I try not to talk too much about the things I seriously love. But think of it this way, a lot of people wouldn't have "unfiltered and unabashed praise" for something they didn't think was seriously that good. And Gurren is really good.
That's why I don't talk about stuff I like either, that and most of the stuff I like, everyone hates, or seem to dislike. But there's also the fact people keep hyping it up, it might not live to it in the end for the person experiencing it.

But Pat doesn't like Ryuko. He'd hate that joke.
Mostly because he seems to have fallen asleep during 90% of the show, judging from the start of the spoilercast.
Or he's dumb lol
.

It's fine we can just push it hard enough that he'll conform to it jk.

You know indonesianbob should really get on gaf he would get so many ideas for drawings based on our "lore" of the Zaibatsu.

I'm that way too. I didn't want to talk about it earlier while people were shitting on it, but I really enjoyed Guilty Crown much more than other people did, but I wouldn't go out of my way to push it on people. Even if the show is universally seen as good like Hunter x Hunter, I still wouldn't go far out my way to push it. People just don't wanna hear you gushing about something, unless they actually care or ask about your opinion on something.

kamiyas an asshole, but he make really good games.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

No I just don't watch long running anime, 30 episodes is my limit.

Just watch the major arcs then. They're like 4-5 episodes long and you're in no hurry to watch them because they come about so rarely.

Go back a few pages and click Xiraiya's recommended episodes.

Ehh it's not as impactful until you spend some time with the characters, which is what the slice of life/comedy skits parts are for.

You're not wrong but I feel confident that if someone watches some of the bigger stuff in Gintama then they'll actually want to go back and watch all the random stuff.

That's how it was with me.

The problem is that isn't a reliable way of judging, because everyone is all over the place convinced of this and that.

There is actually nothing really in TTGL that makes it that much better than say a typical shonen series, it's shorter and animated at higher quality than most, but when you strip everything away, there's not a whole lot of difference in how those things are constructed, so while they praise it relentlessly, they dismiss and rag on other series and get all extreme and agitated about it, from the outside, they look ridiculous and hypocritical in some ways (nothing you can do about that), both Bleach and Naruto are seriously flawed and have moments throughout that are pretty subpar and I do agree that's a problem with a series going on for 10 or so years, but at the same time, there are also really good parts of those series that I think are worth appreciating, even if an arc here or there isn't ideal.

I shill Gintama, I like it a lot because it does a lot of different things extremely well and has what I find to be a great sense of humor, the writing is better than it has any right to be, so naturally I want people to check it out, however it's not everyone's cup of tea, and that's fine.

It's my favorite series, is it the best series? I doubt it. (They're two different things)

That sounds like a bad way to watch it

It's not optimal but it's to your specifications.

Don't think of it like a normal series where each episode leads into the next one. Only the arcs do that. As I mentioned earlier, it's structured a lot like Detective Conan/Case Closed.

It seems like a good show, probably in my anime backlog. I figure people like what they like and don't need pushing to do something like watch a thing.

Stopped watching Nichijou because I wasn't in the mood for a slice of life comedy, started watching Durarara instead.

Don't get me wrong, Gintama sounds great and I would love to watch it. The motivation isn't the problem, it's just that I don't watch long running anime. That's all. I'm sorry I'm missing out on you guys' favorite thing but it's too long for me to give it a chance.

When your followers are as big as idiots as his are, I'm shocked he's not even more of an asshole. I wish he'd be harsher on those dumb asses.
This is probably why I'd never use twitter if I were ever in his position. I'd probably go way more fucking raw on them to the point it would prove difficult to get a job afterwards.

So for that, god bless Kamiya and his nigh infinite patience for reading nearly ever tweet and responding to them. As well as the time to do all that while making games.

This is my issue with most long running anime.

Usually they have filler that just waste my time by going off from the main story. Plus if it takes me upwards of three months to get caught up..that shit is too long.

I'm pretty sure most big-name guys have a massive amounts of idiotic followers that ask him the dumbest shit. Doesn't really justify his occasional shitty and really weird behavior. And I say that as a Kamiya fanboy.

He's not as big of a shit as people make him out to be, but yeah during the DMC and Bayonetta 2 question stuff I understand why he yelled at people but he was a jerk for it sometimes. The worst thing he does though is his redirecting if he has answered a question before...man going back 20 tweets to find one answer is the worst for him.
