So I'm just about to go after the Frenzied Brachydios but I've started to feel like I need to do some proper-ass gathering quests to stock up on materials. What armor should I use for the high ranked gathering, and what should my item set generally be for these more important quests?

Use Kiranico if you're looking for particular items.

For high rank, you should be using the same gathering armor as low rank, since you're not going to be fighting anything. Create a Leather Armor set, and slot gems into it so that you have the Gathering God skill. Make it a preset that you can go back to as needed.

Stock on up Mega Nets and Mega Pickaxes. Check the meal options for anything related to gathering. Then just go on the relevant Gathering Quests.

The Hair thread is amusing, I mean it's very simple, consoles should be capable of using Anti-aliasing in this day and age, it makes everything look much better, especially hair.

MGS3 on the goddamn PS2 achieved some level of AA and yet the PS3 couldn't do it (except for HD PS2 games).

Vidula plays it a fair bit, I use to play it, I still have the Collector's edition, but billing shenanigans for Aus players were messed up and broken for awhile, so I gave up.

Yeah. The biggest worry I have with early access is that the developer will just stop working on it and leave it unfinished. I highly doubt that Tripwire would do that.
