I've voiced my opinion before, but I genuinely like the idea. It's something I thought was a good concept as soon as I heard that it was cut from Brawl.

There are five Donkey Kong Country games, and all of them contain a tag team gameplay system. It's what defines the series to me.

I like to compare it to Pokémon: Pikachu is the main mascot character representing the Pokémon series, and Donkey Kong is the main mascot character representing the DK series. As far as actually representing the mechanics of the Pokémon games are concerned, we have Pokémon Trainer. The Diddy & Dixie team would represent the mechanics of the DKC games. Charizard, Squirtle, and Ivysaur are individually popular characters, but they also work well together given their thematic similarities (they're gen one starters). Similarly, Diddy and Dixie are both popular, but pairing them up also makes sense (they team up in DKC2, and they're boyfriend/girlfriend).

Yeah a foot of snow here and more expected tonight and tomorrow. Although we live out in the middle of nowhere and our driveway is half a mile long so I'll be busy shoveling until the direct. Either way it feels nice to have a snow day and a direct.

Hm wasn't aware it was planned for Brawl at one point.

You do make good points. DK64 is the only Donkey Kong game I think of that doesn't feature your partner alongside you at all times. I would be surprised if they scrapped Diddy's current character for an Ice Climbers type duo, well maybe not scrapped but 'enhanced'. Anything is possible I suppose.
 
Sonic Boom isn't going to be in this direct as its a worldwide direct.

Sonic Boom isn't going to be released in Japan and it makes not sense for them to have it as a part of the nintendo direct.

Thank god though because I'd much rather see a better game get footage than that piece of shit Sonic Boom

Give us no Sonic news please.

Use that time for more Smash gameplay showing mechanics such as L-Cancelling Wavedashing Airdashing, no more unlimited air dodges.

Give us more X, Metal Gear Solid, Bayonetta, W101, Zone of the Enders, etc in Smash.
 
This entire time I've thought Dixie would be in but recently ive been thinking Sakurai may go with Cranky Kong. It'd be hilarious and something different that I could see Sakurai go with. It'd also make sense since he is the original DK. It'd also be nice to have one old character and people would use Cranky to troll people.

We're probably getting news on the Zelda DLC for Lost World, so Sonic news of some form will be there.
 
This direct starts literally right as I have to go to work. Unfortunately I won't get to watch it but a bathroom break should let me check some websites for all the vital info. It's so close I can taste it!
 
If PKMN Trainer does return, I hope he is different. Different Pokemon, different moves properties. Hell, a different trainer to keep things interesting.

Yes, let's scrap three unique characters and make three brand new characters in their place. That makes a lot of sense.

As long as they keep the concept (3 interchangable Pokemon, with a trainer in the background), then we aren't losing anything. In fact, if they play around with different Pokemon types, that could be very fun.

This is a new game. Alot of people are forgetting that. Nothing wrong with wanting something new in the new game, in place of something you are tired of (and I don't care for PKMN Trainer).

It's still getting rid of three unique characters any way you spin it... Why would they do that? Smash has never cut unique characters before besides Mewtwo
(who will probably be back this time around anyway)
so I don't imagine them cutting three this time around. And not only would they be cutting three characters, but they'd be making three brand new ones as well. That's three times the work...
