If I recall correctly, the Bestbuy Smash Bros 3DS demo had character icons with names on them. If they kept those names on the entire roster then they would definitely need another page on the character selection. I assume that is what the arrows were left in for at some point during development...

So, a Spanish site says that Nintendo Ibérica confirmed DLC in a press conference this morning: http://www.deculture.es/2014/09/18/super-smash-bros-3ds-dlc/

I'd translate the whole thing but I have no time now, maybe someone else can do it. Basically it says that Nintendo made it official during the conference but did not give more information.

By the way, first post here! I've been waiting for more than a year because I forgot to confirm my email address. I'm very happy to be finally posting here!

Quoted for the new page.

Is that a Nintendo Americo subsidiary?

And welcome!

Also they updated:

Basically, they were talking about Spotpass and patches. lol

The game will have additional content in the format of patches or updates via spotpass, not the usual DLC ... until further notice. We don't know anything about that content.

Basically it's just the conquest stuff, afaik.

Edit: beaten. Yeah, just talking about conquest/spotpass updates. Also, apologies for the slightly-off translation, my spanish is rusty, and i'm not accustomed to reading it too often. Especially not SPANISH spanish (puertorro here).

Another solution would be to be able to save all of your custom sets for a character on an amiibo, so each tourney player would have to bring their amiibos to the tournament. That's also restricting though.
People keep saying this, but when was it ever confirmed you can save your custom moveset on it and not the FP's custom moveset? And when was it confirmed there can be multiple sets saved on it?

How are you liking Link this time around, now that you've been playing for a while? What about Toon Link? Which is your favorite of the two this time?

I'm the happiest i've ever been w/ link. Unlike brawl, i'm preferring adult link over toon link, simply because toon link's back air can't be spammed anymore, which was a blast. I also like adult link's boomerang better. Oh and his dash attack is a KO move, which is fun. Also, i'm glad he doesn't look like a plastic doll on 3DS. His 3DS model is fantastic.

Never, but it's a glorified memory card, so there's no reason it couldn't ALSO do that. Would be nice if you could take your amiibo's 'settings' and actually play as them.

Can we get confirmation on this? Btw, welcome! Glad to have you on GAF! Stay badass.

Sometimes what you think is logical/reasonable/sensible Nintendo either doesn't think of it or makes very illogical decisions. It's better to assume the Amiibo doesn't let you do those things until they actually say it does. (Or until we actually have it in our hands and can test it out to see if it can work that way). :p

Also, it wouldn't be that great of a solution for tournaments because then you would be asking tournament players to spend an additional $13 on an Amiibo not only to lug around with them at a tournament but also something that could, in the future, become illegal (that is, custom moves) if proven to break the game more than it actually helps it.

Also, also, this would require every Wii U to have their GamePad controller hooked up to it when I'm pretty sure TOs wouldn't like to deal with the extra equipment (esp. because those GamePads are comparatively bigger than the regular controllers).

Sure, $13 isn't a big investment but as someone who's gone to tournaments before I wouldn't really want to carry around an additional item with me along with the controller I already carry around -- that's an extra item to keep track of.

Looking at the recent news about Hyrule Warriors DLC packs in the future, I think it's safe to say Super Smash Bros will have packs in the future.

I just played a guy called Nivek about 30 games in a row. I only won about 5 or 6 but his Lucario was really powerful. Anyone have any tips in helping me kill a Lucario next time? I couldn't seem to land a killing blow on him which meant he had crazy damage output. As Lucina I just couldn't seem to work out how to kill him at all. If I could get a grab I could probably have killed him with an up throw, but he made it really, really difficult for me to do that on FD.

That's certainly a matchup where I think I need platforms haha.

TOs also want to keep the barrier of entry low so they can attract more people and thus offer a higher pot to attract the best players.

I don't see custom moves getting banned, but the issue of needing everything unlocked could be a serious problem unless there's an easy way.

It's limited to what its function. We know what the function is for Smash. It provides an AI that will behave smarter (than the ones in the base game) the more you play with it and can have customization on it. There is no reason to think it will do anything else.

We also know it will have some sort of functionality with other games. We don't really what an Amiibo consists of other than the fact it is a figure of a character and can communicate with the Wii U and 3DS through NFC.

Yes, this was my major concern many months ago but people kept telling me, "Nahh! It'll be the same as if you're unlocking characters and stages! It won't be an issue." And now, here we are... custom moves are apparently ludicrously random to unlock and extremely time consuming.

The only hope we have is that you can use one 3DS to transfer custom moves to multiple Smash Wii U save files. That's literally all we can hope for, otherwise custom moves will not be possible on the Wii U (unless the Wii U has its own, possibly quicker, unlocking methods for custom moves).

People once again making the mistake of assuming Nintendo/Sakurai to be reasonable.

Yup, you guys are correct. I'm just spitballing a possibility. We do know that it saves your FP player, which has custom moves, and can hold equipment - it's not that far fetched to say 'hey, let me play as my FP'

Remember someone pointed out that there is blank slot between assist trophies' trophies.

I had a discussion with my friends about theories and trophies & etc. He noticed that we didn't have any pong trophy. We decided to check out Pong trophy and noticed that it don't have any stroke/line to make it pop out. Basically Pong trophy blended very well with white background.

Click on the picture to open it in new tab. It's more likely that your new tab would have white background so you wouldn't see anything.

A call to everyone with the full game + capture device (or camera).

I need a screenshot of every completed challenge board. If you're willing to help out, please send me a PM.

Agreed, it seems inevitable. With Pikmin 3, MK 8, and Fire Emblem heavily promoting DLC I don't see nintendo missing the boat on this one.
Almost all of their major Wii U pillar games have had DLC (I think Captain Toad started out as a SM3DW expansion ala New Super Luigi U but wound up its own title). I doubt doubt Super Smash Bros will. The only thing I haven't resigned myself to is DLC characters. I cannot go that far just yet.

It did come first, at least according to a guy on GameFAQs:

Another guy here says the same: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/633202-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u/69906617

Nope.

http://smashboards.com/threads/gene...scussion-thread.354188/page-124#post-17123768

So I got more info...
Unless my friend is pulling my leg, there's some pretty crazy crap left to be revealed.

-Snake, Lucas, Ice Climbers (Why), and Wolf are cut
-Doctor Mario is back as a clone
-Dark Pit is a newcomer as a clone
-Each character gets 8 alternate costumes, whether they be pallet swaps or new costumes.
-Alph appears as 4 of Olimar's costumes, while the other 4 are Olimar's.
-Shulk will be playable with Gaur Plains as his stage, his neutral B changes his Monado mode which essentially makes him dish more damage and take more, or do less damage, and take less.
-Bowser Jr appears as a new comer and allegedly fights from a mario kart... has no alt colors, but instead has the 7 koopalings as alts.
-Duck Hunt is in... from what I've been told it's the duck hunt dog fighting with ducks on his back who assist for certain attacks...

*Edit more info
-Shulk has like 5 different mode swaps
-Bowser Jr rides in a koopa kart that attacks with cannon balls and boxing gloves and stuff that eject from the clowns mouth.

note* The kart sounds more like the koopa clown car to me as I read it.

Now I'm not even sure from this stuff so take it with a grain of salt, but my friend recently quit as a tester due to family reasons, so if he decided he no longer cares what leaks, I could see why he'd tell me.
He was also unclear to me as to if that is the rest of the roster so also be wary.

Well, here is the picture of date Ninka posted the leak.
