Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

Mega Man's final smash was da bomb. I was worried I wouldn't see it because the guy who played him was kinda bad. He did well during the 1 vs 1 though.

The celebrity match was entertaining to watch, surprisingly. Bowser blocking the view of Greninja's final smash was pretty funny.

the yellow devil was more annoying than I anticipated. I hope they make it less frequent or maybe have a toggle option in the future

Anyway, that was fun

He should try to fight as opposed to cheaping it out in a sudden death.

so he should try to lose. check.

I mean, if you were close to KO percent and the timer's ticking down, would you chose the option that gives you another chance or the one that doesn't?

I'm all for entertaining fights and all (and personally I don't camp since it isn't fun to me) but his goal is to win, not provide enjoyment for you.

A lot of them seemed to have trouble with items and 4 vs. 4 I was surprised. Items are really not that damn bad to deal with (depending on what character you have I guess).

Very good tournament though. Loved seeing the Mega Man love. The guys at Capcom are fucking idiots.

Would love to see Sakurai put in an easter egg of Mega Man's Final Smash having the caption "Cancellation Dimension", and if the conditions of Sonic not being in the current match are met, there is a 0.05% chance of an extra scene before the Mega Man incarnations appear where you see Sonic making a deal with Satan from Devil World and ordering him to collect the souls of misfit teens and convert them to furries, then releasing him into the world.

I think it's just her tether by using the grab button. It definitely is way longer.
Hmm ok. So kind of like Link's tether recover then, I guess. I forgot about that, but then you mentioned grab button and now I remember.

And uh, the invitationals were pretty awesome! :) I really liked watching them, but I definitely want to see less items next time if possible, or at least turn the Smash Ball off. Not only does it take away too much attention from everything else, everyone's Final Smashes are clearly not equally viable (Greninja's FS vs ZSS' FS for example). Maybe instead of going directly for the Smash Ball, players should've tried using it as bait and attacking other players that were using their attacks on it, but the payout on getting an FS is really way too good.

If the leaked list is all we're getting, they're going to have to space new comer reveals way out to last another 6 months.

Lots of vets left though, so I'd be expecting more those as announcements during the roundtable.

Yesssssssssssssssssssss.

Looks like it's livestream of that person's impressions, not the roundtable itself.

ALSO:

What the hell was up with this item?

The fairy in a bottle!

I saw them pick it up and throw it SEVERAL times and nothing happened. How do you open it? How does it work!?

This is a full match on Gerudo Valley, pretty nicely paced with Marth's FS:

sheik's final smash is arrows again!

Excuse me if this has been asked 1000x, but I just got home. Is the invitational archived anywhere or will it be???? I NEED TO WATCH IT....

Real talk, all I've seen is negatives from you all day. Everyone has opinions and you are certainly allowed to speak yours. I'll leave it at that, I'm not trying to start anything. Game looks great.

Oh, the game does look amazing, I just don't like the way everything was presented today. Oh, and I also don;t like that the moveset for Mii isn't based on Tomodachi Life.

That doesn't mean we have to admire it. There's a reason Sudden Death is specifically avoided in competitive. It encourages stalling, which doesn't make for an interesting match and puts tremendous pressure on short range characters that already have an uphill battle.

Not really we still have according to the leak

Chorus Kid, Chrom, Pac Man, and Shulk

Game is out in October, show 1 more at E3, 1 in July, 1 in August, and 1 in September BAM all newcomers revealed before the game launces

Having every character revealed before the game comes out would suck.

ZSS knee looks like it needs to be tweaked. The knee looks like it keeps the same hit stun and knock back even at the very end of the attack animation. Doesn't make sense to me. If you get hit by the very end of a running knee, it won't have the same force as when the force of the attack was initiated and at its peak.

So what do we think? Competitively and casually speaking.

That last 1 on 1 was intense, I gotta say.
i cant say much competitively but on the casual side it looks super super fun im hoping they dial back the final smashes and the pokeballs and i think this game will defintely be a step above brawl that grand final was super hype and showed in my personal opinion what competitive smash could be like for this game and the celebrity match in my opinion showed the best of what a casual match may be like.

Except they're clearly going for cinematic trailers for all new comers, can't do that if some aren't revealed until after the game is released. Hidden before launch characters will probably be mostly vets like Ness and Captain Falcon.

Besides if the DLC rumor is true then we won't know the whole roster before launch ;)

First time I've really watched competitive Smash (well, maybe not pure competitive) and it was pretty fun...

Honestly my favorite matches were the first three because they seemed pretty chaotic, but in the middle I got a bit bored...the final match was pretty exciting though, I was barely able to keep up.

Oh! I so wish I could be a 'Smash Celebrity" too. :/

Leaked list is not gospel anyways. We got Rosalina and I'm pretty sure she was never mentioned in it.

Original leak was first E3 newcomers + Mac, Pac-Man and Mii right? And the revised added Chorus Men, Pokemon from X/Y, Palutena and Shulk? So yeah, never mentioned Rosalina, and yet there she is.

So IF it is real, I don't think it's a fair thing to assume it includes everything. And I, for one, still consider that someone could have gotten very lucky with a Wii Fit Trainer guess. In either case, don't worry about it.

Any impressions posted?

It looked hype but I have enjoyed every Smash game immensely anyway.

I am really looking for character specific impressions

They can release cinematic trailers for the hidden characters during the lead up to the launch of the Wii U version.

I think it was entertaining for what it was, which is very basic level of stuff. Contestants had like what, a couple of hours top to check out everything? You can't expect sick combos or new techniques like this. That will come with time.

The Smash Bros tournament was amazing, really glad Nintendo did that. Other companies should really consider doing shit like this at E3: I'm more hyped for this game now than anything else shown at E3.

I keep thinking that there's no way they're going to reveal all the characters/newcomers before the game releases. But I could easily be proven wrong.
