lmao Pocket + Tree + pocket again multiplies the damage and knockback of the pocketed item. (You need two Villagers for it). INSANEEEEEE

RIP SmashGAF.

It's a shame, since I was looking forward to playing with you, but the world just can't continue with anti-Warioites around.

I know you will come back anyway to redeem your boy, Wario in battles. :P

And, after a month of me filling too many first posts with my giant graphics, it's all done. I made this poll to help build hype and remind us of all the fun we've had with past Smash games, so hopefully you guys had fun; I definitely did seeing everyone's reactions to everything. Sorry again for clogging these threads will all of my giant banners!

I also wanted to give a big thank you to all of you. I lurked community for quite some time before joining NeoGAF back in May and being welcomed in by all of you has been a real treat. All this when we haven't even gotten to play the game we're obsessing over together yet! It's hard finding a sensible, well-spoken community for gaming online and, while we definitely delve into our fair share of madness and waifu-ing, I've come to like this place quite a bit. Hopefully post launch a lot of you will stick around, as it would be a shame for us to have talked to so much about Smash 4 to not get to experience it much together.

You guys seriously rock. But we've got the next entry in the Smash Bros. series coming out in Japan fucking tomorrow, so we don't have time for getting sappy. Let's start this new era of Smash off right and keep the hype up until we get this game in the hands of everyone worldwide!

Olric, I just want to say thanks for everything you've done. You did a good job :) please accept my humble junior thank you

Just said what I was thinking. Amazing on teams, worse on singles. Bouncing with a teammate could be amazing. With an enemy they'll just play around it (and against a character with no projectiles it'd be useless)

So it looks like the tree gets more powerful depending on how far it falls, so... a Villager that has pocketed a tree can release it from the air and it becomes very dangerous indeed.

That and the Pocket has invincibility frames so could possibly be used as a parry. Villager OP as hell, yo. :D

Thanks a ton for doing this poll! Oric :D

I'm not making a hyperbole when I say that I enjoyed each unveiling as much as the PotD.

I may have even enjoyed it more!

Okay, It's official that Smash 3DS OT IS COMING TODAY! FOR SURE! I'm proud to share a hint with everyone about our OT.

Hint: RIP MOBILE USERS :(

I need a gif or something of the tree shennanigans from the Smash studios stream just now.

You can cut down the tree, have Mario cape it, then Villager pocket it, then Villater throw it, then Mario cape it again to send it flying into the air. Then have Villager catch it again when it falls back down, and repeat. lol

Captain falcon has his own series? :P
He's the mascot of this fighting games series. Super Smash Bros. Maybe you've heard of it?

But seriously, at this point, Captain Falcon more or less is a Smash Bros character over an F-Zero character. In F-Zero, he's just the poster boy racer, in Smash, he's the star.

How does that even work? (Can't see due to shit internet right now)

One Villager plants a tree, the other stands in front of it. Villager 1 cuts the tree down, Villager 2 pockets it. Villager 2 pockets again to throw it, Villager 1 pockets the tree again. You keep repeating it until you think it's strong enough and its damage/knockback has been multiplied. M2K did this and the tree did 75% damage (the Villager he hit was at 0%) and KO'd the other Villager.

That is probably going to be a very scary and legitimate teams strategy if the players are in sync with each other and stuff. It's soooooo OP looking lmao.

Thanks for making the wait so much more enjoyable, Oric! :)

3GB of RAM and 2.5GHz quad core won't slow my Note 3 at all.

Bring it on.

So how's it going to work? JP thread, and this thread, then what happens when Smash 3DS releases EU/US? Will it join the JP thread, or what?

Late, but nice to see Shulk, my most wanted newcomer get 2nd place and Link, my main in Smash Bros since Melee get 2nd as well. I didn't expect either of them to beat Ridley or Falcon respectively, so it's nice to see them so high.

Awesome work, Oric!

To celebrate Captain Falcon's placing, here's a breakdown of his colors in Smash 4. He retains all of his colors from Brawl:
Alt-cfalcon3.jpg

The black costume is from the Japanese commercial for F-Zero X.

The red costume is Captain Falcon's evil clone, Blood Falcon, who is the pilot of the Blood Hawk (or Hell Hawk in Japan):

The green costume is based off of Wild Goose, and its driver Pico, one of the first set of cars to appear in the SNES F-Zero:

The blue costume was a bit ambiguous, however, with Smash 4, it receives a change - the scarf turns orange as opposed to Brawl's white. That solidifies the reference, which is the look Captain Falcon sports in the instruction booklet of SNES F-Zero:

The white costume is heavily based on Jody Summers, and her vehicle White Cat, one of the female pilots introduced in F-Zero X. This one is actually specifically using the color scheme Jody has in F-Zero X (as the yellow scarf mirrors the yellow highlights on her helm), as opposed to the designs in GX or the 2 GBA games:

In Smash 4, Captain Falcon receives a new, yellow outfit, which is an obvious reference to another one of the original vehicles (and pilots) - Golden Fox, driven by Dr. Stewart:

Finally, his 8th color scheme in Smash 4 will be based on GP Legends/Climax's protagonist Rick Wheeler, who is Captain Falcon's protégé and eventually becomes the new Captain Falcon during the course of the storyline:

Hooray for trivia. Probably will get ignored again anyway. :P
