Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition |OT4| Daigo Who?

So I have taken quite some time off from fighting games, and I'm thinking about jumping back into SF. I only have vanilla SSF4 for PS3 at the moment, but I'd like to upgrade to Arcade Edition.

Should I go the downloadable route or just buy the disc release of AE for $15? Is the DLC still $15? If so, I think I'd prefer the physical release just to have it all on one disc and save some HDD space.

I'm at work right now, and I can't seem to find the current price of the DLC. I remember it launching at $15, but I don't know if it has been reduced in price since way back then.

Thanks.

Sorry, does any one have an extra 14 day Xbox live trial card? Or a 24hr live trial? Thank you

dat feel when you finally break the 2000 pp line and are feeling confident in your improving skills, then go below 1000 pp the next day in a series of bad bad bad matches....

This is why I don't play ranked matches with any sharp objects nearby. I'd probably ram something into my jugular in a fit of self-hating rage.

Nothing makes me angrier than a string of losses in fighting games. Nothing.

I know that feel man. I'm mad salty when I get on a losing streak. I honestly avoid playing this game for that very reason. I get too angry and instead of stopping, I'll play for hours upon hours to make up for my losses or in hopes of getting revenge against people who beat me because those people normally disappear after a match, most likely to avoid rematches. I've had too many experiences where I beat a guy, he comes back immediately and beats me and then refuses to play a 3rd match. So many punks playing this game just want the last laugh rather then really proving they're better.

Endless is where it's at, fuck points!

heh i played ranked til i got to 3000pp and i was like, i can't take the salt that comes with playing ranked, it ain't worth it. plus it's much more fun to win in endless lobbies with an alt character. and if the other guy is feeling himself too much, switch your main and hopefully he doesn't counterpick lol

I always tell myself, points don't mean shit. When I keep losing mad points to happy mashers, that's when I rage to end. Playing for no points is tons better.

Yup, hate the points system.

I'll let you guys know if I can play tonight so we can start the round robin. I'm on wireless atm so sorry if there is any lag. Just ordered an ethernet cable.

i dont care about my points in terms of comparing myself to others. i use it as a personal reality checker "you have X points, you are this good at doing what you want to do at the moment". most people go to endless to practice their skills to do better in ranked. i'm the opposite. it's stupid i know, but this is how i feel comfortable.

People in non-ranked matches good off, don't use their mains, try out new strategies to see if they work. Play the same person for hundreds of matches till they learn their quirks. not me.

when i first hop onto a fighting game, the 1st thing i did was go to ranked. screw my record, that's for alts. I go in and get destroyed by the tried and true tactics. i go in and i know people won't goof off and try quirky moves (most of the time anyways). I know i won't see the same guy twice, so i have to get used to fighting strangers. to have to think on my feet and learn to recognize their quirks withing the first few seconds.

it sounds dumb, and it is, but it forces me to get better in a shorter amount of time. but then again it also makes me a gimmick or power move user. oh well!

man the Hakans came out all day today. 5 hakan specialists. maybe they have some sort of sekrit hakan club...

EDIT:

question peeps, what character do you guys use and how are your buttons setup? are they in the standard jab-mid-strong on top and low kick-med-strong kick on the bottom?

i been dwelling into blanka/honda as my backups and doing hundred hand slap without throwing a jab/electricty from a low kick is harsh

Real talk. I'm kinda ass at anti-airs. What's a good way of training to fix dat shiet? THANKS BROZ

Which character do you use? Are you using all of their anti airs? In training mode, you could start by knowing which ranges you can use your anti airs. You should also figure out which situations they are applicable in, for example, some moves are really good for empty jumps as they come out quick and have good range but if the opponent throws out an attack, it will usually beat yours. In real matches (or even against CPU), try to play more patient and focus on simply using anti airs against your opponent. The purpose isn't to win but learning to recognize the situation and react accordingly.

Just played a few matches and the lag was pretty bad on the wireless. Gonna drop out of the round robin so we avoid future pains. Once I get my cable and can play I'll let you guys know.

Oh god this happened to me yesterday - I had about 4500PP and have only played Endless matches over the past 6 months, decided to jump into some ranked games, only intended to play for about an hour... started ok, then went on the worst losing streak of all time (in part due to my terrible internet connection). Ended up with something like 1100PP; I was compelled to play more to redeem myself and after another few hours managed to get myself back to about 2500PP.

Still feel salty as fuck about it.

If i want to train my comboes against different body types/heights, would Ryu/Makoto/Zangief cover all my bases as dummies? Hakan's weird posture and fall speed screws up all my timings...

imo use Gief/Hawk (tallest in the game), Blanka (has the most fucked hitbox ever), and Adon/Juri (their 1 legged stance throws me off) and of course Ryu/Ken
