Well, Sim is airborne during that move, so Akuma can't grab him.

You'd have to time the Demon to start right when Sim is about to land, so that the startup invincibility dodges Sim's active hitbox.

Can someone outline what happened with the Sanford match with RB? Did he mess up during his button check or did he actually pause on purpose the first time?

Akuma said they should have them up soon. I saw one on YT, but the audio was synced horribly...
yeah this was a unauthorized clone upload. someone else recorded a restream of a restream (japan had a restream with japanese commentary) it sounds like crap and looks awful. we are going to be uploading the direct recording like we always do (or rather i think this one is going to gootecks youtube account either way you'll know whats up when its up)

Cool. Can't wait. Totally missed everything that happened in there so I'm looking forward to it.

Are there any videos up from the salty suite? Archived stream or youtube?
Daigo versus Arturo is up on the youtubes but it's not official spooky, is low quality, sucks kinda bad, etc. I only watched a bit, would rather wait for the legit ones

edit: yeah, beaten by forever

Hmmm debating on finding a second main character to use. Thinking probably Chun, Guile, or Rog. Some of you have faced my special brand of insanity before so yeah looking for opinions, input, feedback, etc...Who do you think would probably fit how I play?

Well going from Bison you will find easy wins if you use Rog...not sure if you are playing to win or playing to have fun though.

A little of both honestly, I play to have fun and have fun winning as well *though I do like close to the wire matches, those always make me happy even if I lose*. If that makes any sense lol.

Just wanted to follow up and reply to some of the things following my post on randomness towards the end of the last thread. And it wasn't from anyone on GAF that led me to make that post yesterday. I was a little salty after running into like a dozen random players in a row. Should have expected it though with EVO going on.

Threi said:
I'm pretty sure a lot of that post was directed to me as well, I am trying to adjust, just some things are reactionary, even when they never work. A lot of us just don't have the natural talent to adjust that quickly, add to that chars that aren't easymode and you get randomness.

Nah, it wasn't directed at you. The only times you'll really guess/be random (though it isn't really being random at all in this situation) with something like Dee-Jay's rise kick is after I do a df.HK. That's completely understandable as it prevents you from being in a mix-up and can catch me throwing or doing a jump back fierce. That's why sometimes I'll do a back flip right after the df.HK to bait out reversals in that situation. The only thing you do that I find sorta questionable is a tad overuse of his slide. It's a nice tool in the sense that it trips my df.HK (and overhead I think) and with as much as I use it you have a good chance of landing it. But being that it can't really be done on reaction and it's unsafe (at least from the distance you mostly use it at) I don't think the risk/reward is really worth it. But I really like fighting your Dee-Jay. Really helped me with the match-up.

Pandaman said:
if you're getting dped through bad blockstrings, fix your blockstrings.
why should someone sit there and let you keep hitting them? :lol

That's the thing. The randomness I'm complaining about has nothing to do with firing off a reversal during a blockstring. Baiting them out during that situation is easy. But against my Vega and the pressure I apply many people will throw out an abnormally high number of guesses in wake-up situations or just when I'm nearing their space. Of course you can say then that baiting would be easy and that these people shouldn't win much. And that is the case. My win % with Vega (Not that this means much, especially in online play) is probably between 85%-90%. So I'm not complaining about randomness causing me to lose a bunch, but the mentality of continuing to do it despite the results. Logically you would think if you beat a person 8 out of 10 times and they were taking a lot of random guesses then in the next set they are going to adjust and not be so random. But the mentality of these types of players seems to be that they are content with winning one or two here and there when their randomness lands. I guess I just want people to play smarter and make adjustments as it leads to a more enjoyable experience. I'd rather win one or two in a FT10 against a good/smart player than only lose one or two in a FT10 against someone who I have to constantly play passively in order to bait out their continued randomness.

Kadey said:
I play with various types of people and it is very hard to adjust to everyone's play style. Granted I don't take them too seriously. I eat tons of wake up Ultras and Supers in scrub situations because usually the higher level people I play never really does that.

Yeah, a lot of times I think I give some players too much credit. You always expect players to adjust and stop doing something completely random after you punish it, but then they continue to do it and you end up getting popped by it. It's the Timedog mentality. He'll keep on wake up DP'ing until he hits since he's counting on you figuring that he'll stop. But then he never does. :lol

XenoRaven said:
I wouldn't say that's necessarily true. For one, everyone has to deal with randomness. Two, it's frustrating to be in a situation where you don't have any idea what the hell to do against a character. Like you feel you might just be able to get over the top if you knew how to adjust to certain types of shenanigans. Or maybe you just don't have the necessary reaction time to deal with certain types of shenanigans. I don't see how you can quantify what's worse. You can tell me I should learn the matchups. I can tell you you should learn to be more patient, and deal with randomness better.

Also, you're a damn good player and you can't expect everyone to be on your level. Some people when faced with a 10 game losing streak just don't know what else to do. Not all of us have great discipline with this game. Not all of us take it seriously either.

Not as much as I'm forced to! ;p

With regards to the "deal with randomness better" comment, as I said, it isn't about the W/L rate, but rather the stubborn mentality to keep being random. One of the simplest ways to be a better player (Even if you don't take the game seriously) is to cut back on the randomness. But for some reason people enjoy turning the game into roulette, at least vs. me.

And though I haven't played you in awhile, I don't think you were guilty. Chun is one of the characters who can take guesses (ex SBK) vs. my Vega and get away with it since a lot of times people guess with it when I'm right on top of them so I have to block it and then can't punish. And I don't think you were throwing out random supers or ultras.

All that said, I'm not trying to get on anyone in particular or call anyone a bad player. Just point out that taking all these random guesses isn't the best strategy. It's almost as if a lot of players have decided that the Vega match-up demands randomness otherwise he can't be beat! The players who give me the most trouble like eva, Sasa, or anyone who picks Rufus :)lol:() hardly guess and when they do they smartly pick their spots and a lot of times hit with it. They also play much more aggressively which is one of Vega's weaknesses. None of this run away despite being at a life disadvantage stuff! :lol

I'm assuming you want to stick to charge characters since that's all you listed, but I think based on your Bison style you could make for a good Abel player. But of the ones you listed I'm thinking Chun.

Also, anyone new or who isn't on my friends list, add me! XBL - AZ Greg
