That could also work as the opening scene of a porno. This Ain't Supergirl.

I would have had it up earlier if my family hadn't distracted me so much. Hah.

Yours is quite a bit cleaner looking, though. Plus it's got fancy fonts.

Well that was pretty easily the best thing this show has done. And NOT just because J'onn was revealed. But the editing was pretty solid, the storytelling was just as solid, and some legitimate character progression took place in a fairly fun way.

Well, except for Winn being a little shit. I really do hope that sooner, rather than later, the writers abandon BOTH legs of this stupid love triangle, Because this Pretty in Pink bullshit is just that: bullshit.

But still - that was a really, really fun episode.

totally agree!

Not only that, be we actually got Kara (and Cat) inspiring hope in people, which was so nice to see. As you (I think it was you) said earlier this season, she is living up to the crest better than her cousin is in the films.

Hell, I felt bad for even making the comparison as soon as I made it in my head (because the show is pretty good at reminding you that judging her by what her cousin can do is kinda bullshit, really) but as that whole standoff was going down, and they kept cutting back from Cat to Kara, I was like "I don't know if I've seen that S do something this flat-out old-school HEROIC and HOPEFUL since... The Animated Series ? Definitely the first time in live action since 1982."

So we are still going to get Cyborg Superman right? Maybe the real Hank Henshaw gets revived through cybernetics or something later on.

Fuuuuuuuck @ that gif.

I never thought I'd see the day, on a TV show no less. Yeah, yeah Smallville but that wasn't like this.

Holy shit we Martian manhunter now!

Why would DC let this happen on a shitty CBS show though? How can they not wanted to save him for the movies. Wynn taking them Ls

Multiverse tho?

No.

Ya'll are DISEASED by continuity! DISEASED by it, I say.

It's cool enough that Martian Manhunter is part of the show, and has been from jump, and that the show is finding its footing so quickly and delivering supergoods that we haven't gotten for a long time.

We don't need to make it connect with a bunch of other shit. It's not like it'll actually make what makes this show good any better by itself.

I think it's just the baggage you get when you make a comicbook superhero adaptation.

Personally I have next to no clue about any of the characters except I remember Martian Manhunter from Justice League so many years ago and the obvious Superman comparisons. So to me I feel like the show is doing well on its own merits fairly well rather than piggybacking on "-Cinematic Universe" shenanigans.

yes, we have been spoiled by shared universes :(

i like what Supergirl is doing and doing on it's own, but if they so choose that avenue is open now thanks to the flash

but by all means, lets have Supergirl stand on her own legs for a while

I flipped at MM reveal, but honestly, even without it, I thought it was good episode. Beats out the LimeLivewire episode for me. Seeing her being a hero without using her powers like that sealed the deal. That theme of being a hero without powers was used well thoughout with Cat, Kara, and Alex (mostly).

But damn, what are they going to do with Winn? I enjoy his existence merely due to seeing him be the butt of the joke, but he dropped some truth bombs about her love life. Maybe Cat is going to be Kara's future. Successful, but ultimately alone?

ALSO, does this mean I'm going to get my MOS-esque Supergirl vs Astra fight?!?!?!?!?

Come on, please. Just do it. I'll donate to whoever does the effects.

Finally. Yes.

There's no need to have everything connected like some human centipede. Let this show stand on its own without the connections.

The Martian Manhunter reveal was pretty good. Lord is still a twat. Jemm sucked. What the fuck, Wynn. Lol @ that smile and then the Kryptonian takedown.

Astra still has ZERO charisma.

Standing on it's own also means it needs to stop with the dumb Superman teasing. They aren't being as obnoxious with it lately. But still has been a little annoying to me.

A crossover would be fun. But maybe next year in season 2.

Lacks the power of instantaneous movement
I'm not gonna lie... When Hank started telling his story and when the big MM reveal came Iblost my shit. 36 yo man screaming at a TV. It was better than King Shark.

I"m glad Hank didn't follow the Berlanty formula of Wells and Malcolm.
but that Berlanti love triangle formula. we all know what will happen season 2. she won't be with Jimmy

Ok episode. Nice to see Martian Manhunter. nice to see DC TV show actually using big name heroes

This is why I love the Berlantiverse. We now have Martian Manhunter on a live action tv show. Berlanti, Kriesberg, and crew aren't afraid to tackle anything and I love them for that.

From some of the interviews on the subject, it sounds like that was the original plan, but while shooting the pilot they decided that Harewood was a great fit for Martian Manhunter and changed their plans.

I'm glad they went with their gut feeling.

or else it's going to be a cliche

Knowing nothing about DC, I thought Manhunter was the same as Martian Manhunter and was wondering when Kate Spencer would show up. Whoops.

(Superheroes really need better names)

Just watched it. That episode was so good. The scene with the looters was one of the best, if not the best, scene the DC shows have done.

I'm glad my boy J'onn is here though, finally.

I still want him (and Supergirl) in Arrowverse though, lol.

As a black man who grew up in the 80s' and saw black characters relagated to non-threatening sidekicks in cartoons and fantasy all the time, my mind is continually blown at the interracial attraction Supergirl is embracing.

SHIELD teased at it. Simmons. flirted w/ black guys. And I guess
May was married to a Black guy. But she was definitely the alpha in that relationship
.

Barry on Flash reminds me that its always OK for White guys to be attracted to non-White women in our culture. James Bond sexual adventurism and all that. It's Black guys with white girls that threatens hegemony. I do root for Barry when he pines for Iris. I know he will again at some point.

But Supergirl, portraying a cute apple pie white woman who has an unambiguous crush on a handsome Black guy is absolutely stunning.
And yes I've seen Jessica Jones and it's great. That relationship seemed more defined by sex (mandingo fetishism), which I feel is easier to compartmentalize as a kind of novelty (and yes I know they get to start a real family in the comics. I hope we see it in a future season).

Supergirl's crush of James is depicted as pure and justified. It's innocent and sweet. They make no apologies. And on CBS of all stations. I have to watch it to believe it. Really impressive. I only hope they have the courage to allow it to transition to a loving relationship at some point.
