Supergirl S2 |OT| The Sky's the Limit - Mondays 8/7c on The CW

Character interactions are definitely thrown out of balance this season. I sort of miss the times Kara, Winn, and James would congregate in that empty office and plan out how to save the world from the threat of the week.

So is coming out as awkward as the Kara's sister (can't remember her name) made it seem or was that just a case of awkward lines?

It can be extremely awkward. I think her scenes have been very realistic so far, and from what I'm seeing from other lgbt friends it resonated with them too.

Could be more awkward. She could have been in love with her adopted sister. But that would have been creepy.

For some reason the audio whenever I watch Supergirl is slightly out of sync, whether I watch a recording on Xfinity, or the CW app.

It's only slightly off (only just enough that I notice it) I just think it's weird that both my cable and the app seem to have the same problem. I have both going through my Xbox One, but none of the other shows I watch on it have the issue.

Yeah, I notice that too with CW app too. Kinda annoying...

It's an issue with the app itself. Live & anywhere else is fine. I notice it on other shows while watching on the app too. I think each ad break segment throws it off a little bit more, so it gets compounded.

I think it'd only be not awkward in the vast minority of cases. It can be waaaaay more awkward. Long periods of complete silence, really invasive questions, people suddenly asking you to explain or justify your sexuality, people asking for your life history, people pretending nothing was said, people overdoing it with enthusiasm and acceptance, people starting to make assumptions or ask questions based on stereotypes as if they've forgotten who you are, people needing you to repeat yourself over and over because they either don't get it or don't believe you, people needing to be convinced, people who start spreading the news to everyone they see, etc. The list of possibilities for awkward and uncomfortable scenarios really is endless, and that's not even considering what can happen when it goes poorly.

Personally, I felt the lines that Kara spoke were totally accurate for some coming out stories but didn't make sense for Kara in particular. However, I know others disagreed.

This show's not exactly subtle. President Wonder Woman, alien amnesty, alien guns, etc.

I have the feeling that it should be even less subtle. I suggest an episode in 2018 where Supergirl refuses to help people unless they show up for the midterms.

My best friend who is gay thinks the story of it is pretty awful with Alex suddenly being all "Oh wait,I'm gay". She went through a similar thing but she doesn't believe Alex could be blind to it and not aware, says "You know" and just don't act on it until an opportunity triggers you to act.

The actual confession scene she thought was pretty on point though.

I mean, yeah, they didn't foreshadow this at all last season and they're clearly trying to rewrite the character to fit their desired plotline, but at least they're trying, I guess.

Alex's arc this season still makes more sense than James's.

Well, Alex's "love interest" last season was Maxwell Lord, who may or may not have ever even existed, as far as things are going this season. Like, I wonder if the actor just flat out pissed the showrunners off or something.

But that leaves tabula rasa for Alex, I guess.

Jane Doe broke up with Maxwell Lord. That might be related.

It has not been a good year for Maxwell Lord.

They don't seem keen on getting him back either, Fem Luthor is basically there to make us forget. Maxwell who?

It's really odd that they don't even mention him at all. Like there can only be one prominent CEO in National City at a time.

Also, It's weird that James dresses the exact same way even though he now runs CatCo. It's like he misheard the old adage and he's "dressing for the job he used to have."

They probably learned they could get Luthor, that Peter didn't want to move and that the audience didn't really like him.

He is dressing for the job he wants to have...

I swear I remember reading Lord would pop in eventually...

the show is so much better this year but Cat is so sorely missed.

On the next Supergirl...

Alex: Our DEO investigators think Maxwell Lord might be secretly funding CADMUS, while also backwards engineering stolen alien technology.

Yeah, I feel like his absence is especially conspicuous because they don't mention anything at all about him. Even the "previously on" montages never feature him.

They could have given him a send off or at least a quick explanation by saying he left National City or something, but nope. He's just gone, and they act like he was never there.

Sure, probably. But he was pretty integral to the first season and now it's like he never existed. They should at least explain away his absence on the show.

Touche.

Imagine if they hadn't gotten cold feet and merged Supergirl's earth with The rest of the CW Verse, they could have explained this with Barry fucking the timeline.

They didn't get cold feet. They only found out they could potentially merge after the seasons wrapped up last year.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
So I started catching up on this show on Netflix.

It's better than I expected based on the terrible quality of the pilot and the crossover episode I watched last year. Just finished the Toyman episode, so that's where I am in season 1.

My biggest problem so far is that Supergirl doesn't actually have any of her own villains. They're all Superman castoffs. That and the very obvious attempt to give her 1-to-1 versions of his villains when they don't take Superman's directly. Like Maxwell Lord being an extremely obvious stand-in for Lex Luthor.

Not sure if that's a problem with the show or a problem with the comics that just translates into the show.

And also Jimmy Olsen is there, but he's really her version of Lois Lane. And Winn or whatever is her Jimmy, and then they also bring in Lucy Lane and General Lane and this is getting ridiculous.

Also the plot seems to revolve around a ton of Kryptonian bad guys, so you'd think maybe Superman would want to get involved. Maybe? A little?

Honestly it feels like a spinoff to a show we aren't allowed to watch.

Zero got me like every episode of Arrow last season with his Felicity making quiche lines. You'll learn "don't believe his lies."
