lol, fucking beautiful. Props to the blonde girl for dropping that bomb. If those two guys were on the fence when choosing between the alliances then she certainly cemented who needed to go.

It's just so funny to me how a minority alliance is surprised when their alliance loses in the vote. The stupidity of some people continues to amaze me.

Why not? As long as it starts with Survivor 26, I'm happy.

Did Allie just set a record for least screen time ever? I guess she didn't need much, since she was defined by her alliance, but still...I'm looking back through the episode recaps of past seasons on Wikipedia, and all the other quiet, forgettable people at least floated along until the merge.

Also, the blonde girl who outed Reynolds' idol is awesome and adorable.

That bit with Sherri talking about Shamar was verrrrry interesting...

Yep...At the very least, it foreshadowed how the episode was going to end/the direction the Fans tribe was going to go.

Some of the women who got booted early in Guatemala stand out to me as people who got almost no screentime, and if you go back to the first FvF you've got Mary. Allie was wasted, though, they should've thrown her a few more confessionals since she seemed like a decent narrator.

Editors should be embarassed that they're spending such a crazy amount of time on Brandon and Philip who just do the same thing over and over anyway. Brenda's had what, one confessional so far?

Yeah, I feel really bad for Brenda. She was very entertaining in her season and I wish she got more confessionals.
She's also way nicer to look at than Brandon and Philip.

I'm really surprised at the lack of Malcolm screentime, especially since he's so fresh in the minds of viewers from the most recent season.

It's hard to get screentime when you're up against the likes of Phillip, Brandon, and Cochrane.

Hey guys, how is this season? I'm debating if I should bother getting into it again.

One World really soured me on the show. The whole Colton thing and then the insanely dull Kim Show for the rest of the season did me in and I couldn't get back into it for Philippines. I watched maybe half of that and just lost interest.

Now that I've had a bit of a break though I might start watching again. I know it's still early, but is it a good season so far?

Absolutely. Most of the players are interesting. Only Brandon and Phillip have been overbearing.

You really missed a great season with the Philippines, though.

Leagues more vibrant and interesting than One World. When the dust settles, I'm certain it will be considered one of the all-time greats.

Philippines was certainly a step up from the last few seasons, but it had a pretty perplexing edit. It was a good season, certainly, and had some really memorable episodes, but I don't think it's really in the same category as a season like China.

Nothing tops China and Amazon (for me, at least) and I agree about the odd editing choices, but I think the season "worked" from beginning to end in a way few others have. The story arc of the main characters/narrators was consistent, the irrelevant and/or annoying players were largely sidelined, there were some nailbiting challenges, and several of the TCs were fantastic. There was little else I could have asked for.

I think context helps its perception, definitely; Amazon was incredibly refreshing coming off of Thailand, and China was a blast after the (relatively) meh Fiji.

edit: Now that I think about it...

There was also a distinct lack of local culture (why don't they do that anymore? I loved that), next to no scenery porn, and a continued lack of emphasis on the survival aspect of the show—all things I love about the first ~20 seasons. But I still think it was a great season.

Sherri had a very good episode.
Definitely. Both her and Laura came across very strong out in tonight's ep. They both exhibited extremely savvy gameplay with how they built up Shamar as a decoy and then sussing out Reynold's immunity idol. Masterfully done.

Based on tonight's edit, I don't get the impression that either Brandon or Phillip are at risk of going home next week... and, unfortunately for the Fans, I don't see any other likely boot options from the Favorites. I suppose Brenda could get an unceremonious pre-emptive boot as she's technically outside of the core alliance but I doubt that's likely when I know she's good TV and has had no confessional time yet.

That leads me to believe Hope goes next week unless Matt gets fed up with Shamar and decides to alliance hop back to the Cool Kids trio (bringing Michael along for the ride). Somehow I doubt that's likely with Shamar's over-exposure in the teaser and Michael's savvy-enough to know that Cesternino-like alliance hopping isn't something you want to do early in the game in a large tribe where you're not calling the shots.

So it seems likely Hope goes home barring idol shenanigans deflecting back onto Laura (as a revenge play by Reynold) or a split vote redirect onto Eddie.

Has anyone heard a peep out of Julia yet? She's getting a vintage Darrah from Pearl Islands invisibility edit.

It's mind boggling to me how the "cool kids" couldn't do basic math. Why be so obvious about separating themselves from the heard when they are clearly in the minority? What did they think was going to happen?

With that said, Shamar is unbearable. He and Brandon the Murderer should get married because they seem like a perfect couple.

 at the cool kids. if they were smart they would have locked down matt right away with their 4 who probably would have brought michael over to give them the majority. blonde chick who pointed out the idol is most definitely a player, keep an eye on her.

and my god is brandon a rapist/serial killer, so glad to see people actually pointing it out in their confessionals. hope this is cbs's last dance with the hantz family (probably is, as this season was probably filmed before willie went nuts on big brother). phillip knows what he's doing.

So let me get this straight --

Allie (sp?) claims to have spent half her life watching the show and wishing to be on it and then in the 2 DAYS she's on the island she commits the cardinal "no-no" and starts hooking up with one of the attractive dudes?

Some fan you are. You can't "keep it in your pants" for at least a week? Deserve to be gone.

Re: Season -- Much potential. Phillip is my guilty pleasure. I love this guy. Loved him with Boston Rob. He's a bit much at times, of course, but there is just something about the way he hung around like a bad stench that was appealing to me. Fans tribe is pretty good. Love that Sherri and the bearded dude and the guy with the bandana and glasses.

The big change, for me, over the last two seasons was the fact that I generally liked most of the contestants. The Favorites are so... interesting (crazy)... it really makes for good TV during the non-challenge portions of the show.

I wonder if they are staying away from Malcolm because we just had a WHOLE LOT of him the season before. So strange that he jumped in so soon -- but I'm not upset.

Not related to this season at all, but there's a neat interview with Probst by Chuck Klosterman on Grantland. I haven't listened all the way through yet, but apparently he slams some contestants from previous seasons for being too stupid.

Reynold will probably make it to the merge but the rest of the dumb kids are screwed. So dumb.

I don't see how he does. His alliance is now outnumbered 6-3, which means that, unless something totally shakes up the game (or the Favourites go on a huge immunity run), he'll survive, at most, two more votes -- once when the non-Cool Kids Alliance split their votes 3-3 (flushing his idol; this might lead to a second vote if the Cool Alliance all vote for Shamar, but even then, there's no way they don't lose Eddie or the girl following the re-vote), and then he'll get voted out the TC after that.

He doesn't name any names for the exceptionally low IQ players, says they were from a couple of seasons back and basically a waste of space. He names Dave Ball as one of the high IQ players, though. Pretty understandable.

Great season so far and perfect outcome the last episode. Also that idol looked TINY.

Didn't expect Laura to spill the beans just like that, great move. Sherri also seems like a great player so far. Will be interesting to see if the rest of the players can stand Shamar long enough to get rid of the idol.

On the favorites side, Malcolm/Brenda and Erik seem almost non-existent. Actually most surprised at how little screen time Malcolm is getting, but even the tribe made a comment that he's really quiet.
Interesting that there's not really any clear targets aside Brendan at the moment. Really feels like anything can happen.

Spec on Sucks is that it's Kat/Leif, and I think they're right.

It's definitely not Christina. She was playing for 2nd/3rd.

I don't know...she was definitely one of the most clueless people they've ever had on the show, and I remember being frustrated by how lacking she was in awareness. That said, having finally listened to the rest of the podcast, she never seemed as stupid as he's talking about. Then again, neither did Leif or Kat...Leif was just another non-entity (albeit one whose size made him tossable in one challenge), and Kat was clearly playing the game pretty hard.

I'm thinking it has to be people from Nicaragua. That was arguably the worst season ever, and I'm looking at the EW recaps, and both the EW writer and Probst are constantly complaining about how stupid the contestants were. Based entirely on that...Naonka? Purple Kelly? Dan (old guy who brought absolutely nothing to the game and never showed the slightest hint that he was doing anything)?

What about Carter? Am I missing something? He was a waste of space.

According to most of the people who actually were on the island with Carter, he was actually fairly interesting and fun and a good kid. It was the edit that made him mostly worthless. Keep in mind a lot of times the edits cut out really interesting people because they don't fit the narrative. For example: Allie's final words showed that she was really interested in the game and a huge fan. But the narrative required her to be Reynold's lackey and a "pretty person" so she got like one confessional and pretty much was a non-entity.

If Probst wants to talk low IQ he should be talking about whoever was doing casting for Survivor: One World.

I loved seeing the Big Bachelor alliance take a hit. I hope they get steamrolled. Sherri gives me some hope for this season. There's lots of character I'm just worried whether there will be much in the way of good gameplay.

Agreed, Shamar is a complete piece of shit. Now that the quartet of douches has been destabilized, I'd like to see this nutcase have a psychotic break, try to strangle someone to death then get thrown off the show.

I haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I knew I recognized Shamar from somewhere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osDGO-o5B-U

I knew this guy was a sham. Most soldiers who have been downrange and seen some shit don't go on and on about it. Shamar's MOS is a 3051, Warehouse Clerk: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjo2/a/3051.htm. He probably hasn't seen anything PTSD worthy. Not surprising.

And what the hell at wearing your uniform around like that. Totally inappropriate. Also wearing it around on Survivor is equally inappropriate.

So nice seeing the cool kids crash. They act like it would be an honor to vote with the beautiful people. Just die. Pretty boy calling out Shamar was so self-important it made me gag.

Brandon and Shamar set up as the douche villians. Probably means they're going to stick around for awhile.

Typical scenery porn, but damn, that really is a gorgeous island.

He seems like a guy who becomes a soldier just so he can say he's one. A total piece of shit judging by his behavior and Allie's post game interviews. That being said, we can't really blame him for the outfit, the producers have the final call on what everyone is wearing. They can just dress people however they feel like to better portray a character.

Yeah, a bit. It went viral at the time. I can't find the main upload, but it had hundreds of thousands of views.

Almost 8.5 million from this link alone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmEHcOc0Sys

Just watched last week's episode.

Hopefully this episode will be a wake up call for the "cool kids", because despite their faults I'd still rather see them go farther than Shamar and Sherri. Reynold was smart to not play the idol though, so there's that.

But I think this episode is a perfect example of Jeff overstepping his bounds. Specifically pointing out Reynold for having the idol is too much.

I feel like he decided to wear it on his own. He even wears it in that viral video.
