When I was 12 actually I had car stuff all over my room, including diecast supercars.

When I was 12 I got given as a gift one of my Uncles car colllections which me and my dad helped grow, the brand was Days Gone By and they were little model cars reallly high quality). I've still got them but have nowhere to display them right now, when I move I want to be able to display them again, they're really nice looking.

I wish I had his disposable cash so I could get back into buying figures. Sucks having to avoid the community OT because window-shopping isn't enough for me when seeing some of those awesome statues.

Not even remotely the same as what Swiss dude has.

Dude's living the life. Haters are just jealous. It's okay to admit it. We all want a titty mousepad.

Hey I'm a perverted dude, like all men, but there is wanting something and actually having something. I may "want" a titty mousepad, I may want to cover my room in posters of hot chicks with big tits and asses, I may also want to live in a computer simulation where I got blowjobs all day, that doesn't mean I should. Swiss dude needs to learn to control his urges and learn that sometimes things should just stay as a fantasy in your head. Geez, just imagine him bringing a girl over and showing him his room. "No, it's all from really interesting anime, really...just ignore the pillows and sheets, what didn't you have sheets of cartoons when you were little? Oh the titty mouse pad? Well...it's comfy."

Obligatory:

haha that's great

Question: does this girl have "mental issues"?

Won't lie, would love to see what her room looks like when Persona 5 comes out lol.

Possibly, but I can respect her shit at least.

The Moe stuff to me is weird though. I'd get someone having an obsession with the really explicit hentai and shit out there, blatant sexual factor there. All this cute shit though, is just disgusting to me. My own fandom contrasts so starkly with what the dude in the OP is working with, lord. Makes me feel normal, bahahhaa.

The ones I collected were bburago, maisto, motormax, Revell and UT.

As long as he's buying all of them with legit money that he worked for himself, and he doesn't harm others, what is exactly the problem?

It's always amusing to me to see people from a video game forum making fun of or mocking folks like this Swiss guy.

Pshhhh.

Thats what I like too. My dad hates this stuff but 1. He doesnt live here and 2. I didnt buy any of this on his tab. Its all my own hard earned money.
so really he cant do shit about it.

But his tastes includes child like characters in overly sexualized poses. That's fucked up. It's not even teenagers that he can get away with the ebephile excuse but outright prepubescent looking characters.

Regardless of the subject matter, a photo of someone posing in their small room, covered wall to wall with stuff, gives off the impression of being imprisoned by your own obsessions. So yes, that applies to the Persona 4 girl, too.
Is this a warning to your girlfriend who has the same Batman robe? :P

Yeah as long as it's not real girls being exploited I'm Ok with this.

I still think it's creepy, but the dude ain't hurting anyone.

I don't know, I imagine if it's "fucked up" someone would report him to the police already.

Does he break the law? Does he hurt anyone else? Does he rob people to fund his hobby? Does his money come from him doing anything that hurt other people?

Each and every one of us has something "fucked up" in ourselves, so as long as he doesn't harm others I personally won't judge.

In my eyes, what he's doing is not any worse than any gamers splurging money for pre-order editions of video games or those that spend great amount of money to build monstrous PC-capable gaming or stuff like this.

And no one's doing anything to prevent him for doing what he wants.

If you somehow live without forming opinions about anyone, you're a better person than me.

Let me clarify with an example here. I watch Super Sentai and Power Rangers. They are children's entertainment. Now someone people may wonder why I enjoy children's entertainment. I have my reasons and I share them, but if they don't understand that's perfectly fine. It is a thing outside of the norm for many people. Everyone has something like that and people will have feelings and opinions when confronted with those things, some of them will be negative. I don't attempt to normalize my enjoyment of Super Sentai and Power Rangers. It's a thing I do, others may not understand it or look negatively upon it. It happens.

Those coming in saying it's creepy are being rather honest in their feelings. The art and entertainment this particular gentleman enjoys is far outside their norm. Most people's norm, otherwise he wouldn't be notable. Some may find it creepy. Like my example, it happens.

My collection isnt as fanservicey but its the same sort of merchandise.
figures, artbooks, anime, that sorta stuff.

I don't see the hypocrisy. People who take gaming obsessions too hard or go in creepy directions get mocked here too. Do you think that if someone posted a picture of their room and it was covered in posters of Princess Peach and Rosalina that it wouldn't draw comment? If someone started a thread about how much they liked Rapelay, you don't think it would get locked?

Honestly, it's much more appealing when people are shy about their collection. It gives off a better vibe that they're more genuine because they don't feel the need to show off what they like. Nothing wrong with showing, it just seems odd on the way some do it.

What I find weird about this guy is that he seems to just push himself out there by showing off. A lot. He got a lot of attention lately, and then he proceeds to complain about it (as seen in several of his tweets)?

I just find it weird.. it's like girls who act easy online or post slutty pictures (like bikini on Instagram), and then complain about male commenters being creepy.

Films like Avengers and Avatar being monstrous blockbuster successes, sort of stretch what "children's entertainment" is meant to be.
I don't think the maturity of those films to be particularly removed from what Power Rangers offered.

I don't think so either, but for those outside of my personal sphere, I can certainly understand why it may seem odd to them.

I don't think indulging in people's shallow and lazy judgment of others should be encouraged though.
Feeling some way or another is fine (you really don't have control over how you feel) but accepting that acritically is a bad habit to hold, is where i'm getting at.

Not related to the OP story, btw, just your specific example that caught my eye for whatever reason.

So let me get this straight;

Lolicon = is erotic anime
Hentai = hardcore animated porn, tentacles, violence and all the crazy shit we see from 4chan?
Moe = nothing sexual, just cute? So it's actually like my little pony?

I tried to read the "moe" thread but it was just too difficult to get a proper explanation. It was the most uninformative 5-page thread I've ever seen on GAF.

lolicon=prepubescent
hentai=hardcore or softcore
moe=just cuteness, could be turned sexual

Come on, guys. He's just really passionate about his hobb- Oh wait, he's a Kotori fan?

Please continue mocking him.

Sorry for going off-topic but I'm curious about this now since I've seen so many mention it..

1. Why do so many love Kotori?
2. Why are you mocking them for it?

Edit: I know *who* she is, but I still wonder about her.

1. I wish I knew.
2. Because she's bottom tier and there's far better idols to support.

She's boring. Her personality is literally "Is good friends with Honoka". Doesn't help that she has a not-so-great singing voice too.

Worst Love Live after Nico.

Lolicon is short for "lolita complex", meaning someone who has sexual feelings for young girls. In this case, these are fans who prefer art featuring female characters on the young side.

Hentai is just the Japanese name for animated porn. It does not need to be more hardcore than average porn, which hentai fans refer to as "vanilla hentai".

Moe is a catch-all term for characters that cause fans to feel intense emotions. Generally though, moe refers to a specific set of aesthetic and narrative tropes, usually young women with features considered "cute" in anime. This is the functional definition I use, because its generally what entertainment producers aim for as "moe": women on the younger side, maximizing cuteness, and generally fitting into the Japanese ideal of domesticity. There's a bit of character play within moe - tsundere, yandere, dojikko - but that's not helpful for you at this point.

The word itself can be a pun on two Japanese words, one for "to sprout" hence the general fixation on young girls and the other for " to burn" indicative of the feelings moe characters cause in their fans.

Here's an older article on moe. And another.

EDIT: You can google all of these terms - I'd do it in incognito with SafeSearch - to get a basic idea.

All these Nico fans smh

Also all these people trying to define moe just stop while you're ahead.
If you're going to define what people find cute then you might as well define what they find cool. Moe isn't limited to an art style, gender... shit it can be an inanimate object.

I called it a catch-all term, but there's a general consensus when it's used in entertainment production, a general target to aim for, if you will.

To deny that is quite foolish.

Apparently moe is so complex and abstract that it shouldn't even be defined lol. Aside from the fact that it already exists as a word, so it's already defined in some way.
