I wonder when the first Microsoft Direct will be, because if the Switch 2 is comparable to the Series S then that's a fuck load of recent games that MS can port over. Suddenly a new market of 100 million or more consoles falls into their lap for games they've already made and are currently making.

In a gen full of blunders they might get a decent sales bump if they don't manage to fuck this up as well.

It will get noticeably more third party suport than Switch. if you comapre 2017 to 2025 it will be like night and day.

This is less to do with Series S and more to do with diminishing returns and the success of the Switch (vs. the failure of the Wii U).

That doesn't mean it will get everything. But you will see multiple current gen only games get announced for Switch 2 by the end of 2025 (through Summer Games Fest, TGAs and Directs).

Things like MGS Delta, FF Rebirth, Baldur's Gate 3 and AC Shadows will come at some point, plus whatever MS will bring. Of course a flood of PS4 ports can also be expected.

In short... Yes. I know of an absolute fuckton of third party games currently in development for it. I told you all Outlaws was coming in the launch window months before it was reveled or talked about by anyone else. AC Mirage, AC Shadows, Avatar, Farcry 6, The Division 2 and The Crew Motorfest are currently all being ported over by Ubisoft. Mario x Rabbids Sparks of Hope is getting a Switch 2 upgrade edition with previously cut bonus content. All of their old Switch games are being updated by outsourced studios so ACIII, Ezio Collection, Rebel Collection, Immortals Fenyx Rising should all by 1080p/60fps at minimum. Their future games like AC Hexe, Farcry Blackbird, Watch Dogs 4, The Divison 3 and the next Splinter Cell are all planned to come to Switch 2 aswell but maybe not at launch. My understanding is that it will get almost full support but like GTA on PC a lot of games will come roughly a year after their launch on PS5/Series/PC.

Ubisoft also have two exclusive games (probably timed exclusive in this era) in development for the console (I've heard one of them is a new 3D Rayman).

RDRII, Marvel Rivals, Baldurs Gate 3, MGS Delta and PoE II should all be announced before the consoles launch and be out before the end of the year. I've heard every single Resident Evil Game Remakes of 2, 3, 4, VII and Village are coming aswell as RE8 in the future. Not heard about MH Wilds it's maybe another case of an exclusive for Nintendo built around mobile play (shorter bursts / less story) and the Japanese audience. That's all I know for now.

A megaton of MS Studio games. Too many to list. Expect everything PS5 gets and then some on top.

Thank you for sharing! As I suspected it looks like there are several 2025 third party Switch 2 to be announced and it will get more current gen AAA support than Switch got.

A couple of my thoughts (you don't have to reply as I know this is sensetive).

  • A key thing will be how many of these games are launch day, and how many come later. I think as time goes by we'll see which publishers focus on same day release (like Ubisoft and SE) and which port games later (like Atlus and Bandai Namco).
  • There are two things about your post that differ from my expectations. I wasn't expecting any third party exclusives (though I guess Ubisoft needs the cash) and I wasn't expecting Switch 2 to get anything that PS5 didn't get.
But overall a very useful insight. Thank you again.
Except for a few outliers it'll get about the support the switch got.
I think you'll be surprised how different it is.

I personally wouldn't get excited for the other Ubisoft exclusive it's probably a Rabbids or Just Dance game using the camera rofl. If the other one is indeed 3D Rayman like I heard then I expect it to come to the other consoles later like Rayman Legends was originally planned on Wii U. I might have expected Mario x Rabbids 3 but the team has been moved on to Beyond Good & Evil.

Ubisoft should have listened to Nintendo and held Sparks of Hope back for this summer / Autumn in the Switch 2's launch window. It would have sold 1 million copies inside a week although I did hear SoH sold 2 million at full price so their expectations were totally unreasonable... It was an incredible game too as is the first one. A shame we won't get more :(

It's less excitement and more curiosity. I thought the days of Western third party exclusives were over.

And I agree, Sparks of Hope deserved better!
So far only games that are current gen only and come to switch2 is sons of liberty expack for cp2077 and borderlands 4, lets observe bit more and see how well they look and run on switch2 and if/how many/of what quality games we gonna get, then we can be sure if indeed we getting current gen 3rd party support or not for at least 3 next years- new xbox coming supposedly in 2027, ps6 likely holidays 2028.

So far its definitely positive sign but we shouldnt get ahead of ourselfs till we see actual current gen 3rd party games.
Personally i think if/when s2 reaches quickly 40-50m sold units pubs will have big incentive to port to the mashine, even if those versions will be highly "optimised" aka cut vs big console versions, they will do it in a heartbeat as long as instal base aka potential profit is there.

Hail mary's like gta6 on s2- not saying they are out of question but we dont even know how they look/run on base ps5 trully so no point to speculate about s2 version yet :)
Star Wars Outlaws is coming, which surprised me. If the very short look in that sizzle reel is anything to go by, it looks really good and better than Series S. But I'm skeptical if that was Switch 2 footage at all.
It's like I'm repeating this every 2 posts: Split Fiction and SW Outlaws

Daemon X Machina 2, Reanimal and Wild Hearts are also current gen only.

Yes, especially since games like SF6 look much better on Switch 2 than XSS.

Truth is, XSS is required for support, so Switch 2 will be as well. I've been saying this since XSS came out. It's true.

The people saying the CPU in Switch 2 will hold it back for many games are not giving you correct info. Let me explain why this is true. They are the same people that said PS5 Pro would not get a fps boost because the CPU was not much better. Every one of these people either lied about PS5 Pro or they were ignorant of how graphics work in general. Imagine not understanding simple resource allocation. If you look back at post history you will see a HUGE amount of people believed that bullshit about the PS5 Pro, but people with common sense and a good head on their shoulders pushed back and of course we were 100% correct. We will be correct here too. Switch 2 will not miss many games over the CPU issue and will get most 3rd party games for many reasons, XSS being a big one. It is power adjacent to the Switch 2, so it will get the ports. They were wrong about PS5 Pro and they will be wrong here and they will keep being wrong about all other hardware that releases they don't like, because being "wrong" and creating agitprop are often one and the same.

According to some discussions on homeandawaygaming.co.uk, every single Resident Evil game—remakes of 2, 3, 4, VII, and Village—is expected to come, with RE8 also planned for the future. I haven't heard much about MH Wilds; it might be another Nintendo exclusive designed for mobile-style play (shorter sessions, less story-driven) and aimed at the Japanese market. That's all I've come across for now.

Witcher 4 port should be interesting!
I don't really care abort ports on this system, but hope many get released so folks who can't play them elsewhere will be able to enjoy them.
Will obviously be very different games in many cases though.
(Like Cyberpunk on a solid PC is very different from the console versions).
