Switch 2 Pre-Orders. Did you get one?

I did my good deed for the year. I had 2 preorders. One with Mario Kart and one without. Went to visit my brother in law halfway across the country and he mentioned he wanted one but doubted he'd be able to find one any time soon, so I just updated my Mario Kart order to ship to him. His kids will be happy with that. Figure I don't need MK since one of my kids basically only plays Fortnite and the other seems to have gone PC exclusive.

Alright. Got my GameCube controller now. Got my console and pro controller in person at GameStop so I'm good for a while now.

Will source a MicroSD at some point but the included 256 will last me a bit given I'll only be using this for exclusives/my switch backlog. Will try to wait for at least 512s to be readily available.

Got my Gamecube controller. Switch MW bundle, pro controller, and now Gamecube controller all pre-ordered from three different places. Think I'm good for now.

ordered!

Finally got through on the queue and preordered a Gamecube controller. Looks like I'm all set with everything I wanted (albeit from three different retailers). Hopefully everything arrives relatively on time.

MKW Bundle from Walmart
Pro Controller and Street Fighter 6 from Amazon
Gamecube controller from Nintendo

I have a 512 pre-paid, but called my local Gamestop to see if they had any 1TB cards so I could swap up. Nope. 🤔

That's cool. It'll be nice to see a lot of people there hopefully walking away happy.

I've got all I need preordered at Best Buy. I wonder if I'll have the most shit when I walk away that night, cuz...yeah I got a lot of stuff lol

I didn't get mine from BestBuy, trying to get a 2nd for family. I was picking up game and accessories that I preorder from BestBuy. Let's see if I'm able to get Switch 2 Mario Bundle.

Finally got the invite email for one of the 1 accounts that used I registered interest for me and my boys. iirc I did it within 30min of it going live. Not sure whether the others will come through at some point. I mostly just wanted it as a backup in case Walmart refunded one of the 2 units I ordered from there. I just have a feeling Walmart will refund 1. Needing 3 units for me and my 2 sons. Currently have 1 at GameStop from camping out, 2 from Walmart online, and now 1 from Nintendo.com. My nephew camped out, too, so he's getting one. We're all selling our Switch OLEDs to put towards the Switch 2 after we get our new units. We're also buying the official cameras and playing Mario Kart World online together. Really looking forward to it!

I wasn't planning on getting one at launch, but I see they still seem to be available on the Nintendo direct site (Netherlands), so I picked up the bundle with a MicroSD Express card, Pro controller, and a cover.

I got an email from Nintendo today. The subject line was "Regarding Nintendo Switch 2 purchase invitations from My Nintendo Store".
I open it and it says

"Regarding Nintendo Switch 2 purchase invitations from My Nintendo Store

Hello Celcius,

On behalf of the My Nintendo Store team, thank you for registering your interest to purchase the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system from Nintendo.

We wanted to let you know that you're still in the queue to purchase, and to share with you a handful of updates on what to expect.

What happens now

There's nothing you need to do right now.

The first invitations to purchase through the My Nintendo Store have begun going out. Invitations will continue to go out periodically until all eligible registrants receive an opportunity to purchase (as they become available). Due to a high number of registrations, we can't provide exact timing on when you can expect to receive your invitation.

When it's your turn, we'll send you an email inviting you to shop.

If you pre-order or purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from a retailer and later receive an invitation to purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from My Nintendo Store, you are not required to purchase the system from My Nintendo Store.

When to expect your invitation

We do have a lot of registrations and apologize that we can't provide exact timing. Rest assured that we'll continue sending invitations past the system's launch date.

How to spot your invitation

The invitation will come from no-reply@noa.nintendo.com. Please be sure to add this email address to your safe sender list and check your inbox's Junk, Spam, or Promotions folder.
The invitation email will be from "Nintendo."
The subject line will include "It's your time to purchase" as well as your choice of system you selected when registering.

One thing to note: Once you receive the invitation email, you'll have 72 hours to complete your purchase from when you receive the email, so be ready to act quickly!"

Not sure if this just to assure folks that they're still in line or a nice way of saying they won't be getting the system at launch...

Got the same email today too

I got flamed on either here or Reddit when I posted an IGN interview with a Nintendo Exec that said they had not expected as much demand for retail preorders. They said they were going to cut the stock they set back for the Nintendo direct shipments and that potentially they would continue to ship units post launch.

Clearly they didn't set that many aside and there doesn't seem to be any method with which the selected people, other than the criteria they said. IMO kind of shitty that they didn't do it based on something like money spent in the eshop or time subbed to Nintendo Online. Not much of a loyalty program.

I'm glad I was able to get a pre order from Walmart. I feel bad for people who felt so strongly that Nintendo would have more, but past experience should show Nintendo is kind of notorious for artificial scarcity crap where they drip feed thing to help market their stuff.

I feeling confident in my Walmart preorder at this point.
If I do get the Nintendo invite I'll probably just let mine pass to someone else...

Just got an email from Nintendo about their preorders and I'm in the queue. I already have 2 pre orders secured. Wonder if I just get a 3rd for family members

I was going to just preorder some accessories through Nintendo but apparently you cannot, repeat; Cannot preorder accessories Unless you are also pre-ordering the system/bundle.

So yea, that sucks..

Personally I don't find the release date line-up that great except for Mario Kart and maybe Bananza. What games are y'all peeps who're getting a Switch 2 this year hoping to see announced this year? That is, only announced, it can be released next year or in the next three years. Personally I want to hear something about mainline Zelda so that my speculating and dreaming can start and get wildly inaccurate by the time the game releases.

Oh lol i just got the queue email. Yup, that sucks I guess.

Thank you gamestop for still being around and for being the only store that does in-store pre-orders

The only release game I'm interested in is the Bravely Default remake.

My Best Buy bundle is the Switch 2 and Pro controller. I'll buy Bravely Defauly digitally on the 5th when I get the Switch 2. Beyond that I'm just buying the console for potential future games.

This year I'm looking forward to Mario Kart World + Metroid Prime 4 + the DLC and enhancements for Kirby and the Forgotten World.
Next year when more games are coming out then I'll likely grab an sd card for more storage space as well.
