Switch 2 Pre-Orders. Did you get one?

Looking over at Reddit it looks like you have to buy the console to get the GameCube controller in this wave (it isn't letting you buy accessories separately). Going by the fine print on the website supposedly on 5/13 everyone will be able to preorder the controller assuming you have NSO.

Apparently if you were accepted you can go directly to these links and you will see the button labeled as "Invitation Requested" instead of "Invitation Required" which unfortunately I do

Anyone here manage to get one in this wave?

I registered within the hour (maybe half hour?) that supposedly invites went up after the Direct. No email yet, but I'm itching for a chance to get the MKW bundle and Gamecube controller for launch day.

Thanks, this is handy. I shouldn't be greedy anyway, but I keep looking.

I already have a pre-order from Walshart but I'm kinda surprised I didn't get an invite from Nintendo. I have a launch Switch and an OLED and have a trillion hours played on both. Are they just picking random names?

Yep, gotta just be random. I never got an Amazon invite either despite signing up within 5 mins and being a Prime member for like 10 years, and haven't seen anything from Nintendo yet in same situation as you.

At least I was able to get through with Walmart or I'd be getting pissed at this point.

You can use this trick to find the exact time you registered:

"FYI, you can find out the time you signed up by opening up Dev Tools in your browser, going to the Registration/How to Buy page, clicking the Network tab in the Dev Tools, and then looking for and clicking the ?operationName=SignUp request and then expanding the data object."

For me it it says:

{
"data": {
"customer": {
"signUp": {
"sku": "option_b",
"registeredAt": "2025-04-02T14:57:37.545Z",
"__typename": "SignUp"
},
"__typename": "Customer"
}
}
}

Then using this website to convert from Zulu time to CT: https://savvytime.com/converter/z-to-cst/apr-2-2025/8pm
I registered at 9:57am on 4/2.

Even before the preorders started I assumed that Nintendo was going to be the worst way to get a hold of a Switch 2. I was hoping to get one this way in case they cancel one of my Walmart orders.

P.S.- my sons and I have 3 Switches and 3 separate accounts, and I registered us pretty early on the first day for pre-order. Not very good odds.

Anyone know how long the invite lasts before they start the next wave?

I'm not buying through them. I'm just curious how it'll work.
I've seen a screenshot of someone who got the invite and it expired early morning on the 11th. It seems like they're going to give 72 hours for people to make their final decisions.

Separate thought: I'm also seeing a lot of complaints from people who only signed up for the accessories who are now finding out that it won't allow you to order any without the Switch 2 in your cart. Assuming those people let it expire, we should get a chunk of new invites made available three days from now.

Same, I did so almost immediately. Been subscribed forever. Buy software a lot.....but I haven't been playing my Switch a lot lately. I think that is why I have not gotten an email yet, but I hope to get one soon!
hope GIF

Got an invite and just ordered. I have a preorder in at Target too. I don't see anything about launch day delivery for either one. I'm gonna cancel one and keep whatever one is scheduled to get here closest to launch day.

So if I had to guess this is going to come in 72 hour waves as they are probably going to send out their allotted amount today and people have 72 hours to buy. In 72 hours they will go down the list and send out emails to the next wave, and then wave 3 will end on the same day that the GameCube controller states it will be available for open preorders. So my guess is that at that point any accessories people don't pre order will then be open to everyone else. If this is anything like the N64 controller it is probably going to take months to get one if you are not lucky and don't want to pay an ebay scalper for one.

No email either. Which is fine for me since I have mines paid off at Gamestop. Really only hoping to get a Gamecube controller and maybe a charge grip

So we got one US GAF member above who got an invite and noone else? WTF Nintendo
did you send out 10 total emails today??!

I managed to get one late tonight.

Yeah I was lucky enough to get a Target bundle, though I don't trust them and wanted a Gamecube controller. Planning to keep the Nintendo preorder and either return the Target one or sell to a friend if they can't find one.

The preorder link I got 2 days ago was embedded within a mail promoting Donkey Kong Bananza. Location: EU/Germany.

Good luck, everyone.

The Nintendo invite path was a non-starter for me. At this point I think my best odds are picking one up at Microcenter, maybe (assuming they carry it) on launch day because they are immune to bots.

Yeah. NoE opened their My Nintendo Store preorders a few days ago to everyone. It seems like the UK version sold out quite quickly, but the EU version still seems to be well available.

It's great, even if the console doesn't arrive exactly on the release date. At least this way I don't have to pay Bergsala's taxes for the console. Bought the Mario Kart bundle and also Pro Controller (My Switch 1 Pro Controller's left stick is starting to act up) and a GameCube controller as well.

Still waiting for email from Nintendo, but not expecting one soon. But never say never.

The good thing about there not being a launch day exclusive like BotW is there's really no rush for a day one purchase, as there's nothing I "have to have" on day one like there was with Switch. I'm fine waiting til I just find one while I'm out and about, in July or August. 🤷‍♂️

I'm most excited for GameCube Classics and Fast Fusion and BotW S2E, if that says anything about the launch lineup for this thing.

I got my email from Nintendo yesterday at 4:40pm. Say the link expires 5/11 at 2:40pdt. I'm honestly not sure if I even want it. I guess I'll think about it.

I forgot, you only seem to be able to get the console you pre-registered for. So the Mario Kart World bundles are probably gonna go fast.

If you've made it this far and aren't really sure, you should pass.

Within two years you'll have a better sense if it's the right console for you or would just be a dust collector.

Guys, it's still available to pre-order in Iceland if you really want it. Super expensive plus transport and import fees 😄

Bots will be flooding in from neighboring states, lining up outside Micro Center like it's the Silicon Rapture. You'll spot them right away , all wearing identical cargo shorts or bootcut jeans, stuck in a loop debating DLSS vs FSR, and muttering shit like 'Man, there are a lot of us here', every five minutes. They'll be pinging their network to see which bot secured a Switch at other locations. Pro tip: don't go alone. Bring a friend and blend in by mimicking the bots' conversations, just keep looping whatever shit they are saying. Any deviation, any trace of original thought, and they'll clock you as human and move to terminate your position in line like Agent Smith.

I bet Nintendo actively avoided the super hardcore players because they knew we would go out of our way to secure a preorder long before May 8th...

Tbh I'd planned on bringing some EMP grenades to fend them away from the doors come opening hour but I'm not sure it's enough.

I got the Nintendo email invite but now I'm not sure if I want to buy it. I think the hype had gotten to me. Still debating…

Thanks for the info, I didn't even know Nintendo Canada sold hardware. I registered there too.

Same. I got one from my local Gamestop but I'm not sure if I want to keep it after learning 99% of third-party releases will be via Game Key cards. F that shit.

I took the Nintendo invite I received today and got the MK Bundle and Gamecube controller. I have a Walmart pre-order as well which I'll just return if the Nintendo order goes smoothly.
