Switch 2 Pre-Orders. Did you get one?

I agree. Given the amount of units Nintendo is producing, the price, and the fact it's launching in June, I suspect if you're really determined to get one you'll have success launch day.
So far in Canada it sold out in most places.....I managed get mine when pre-order open in my local EBgames store.

On behalf of the My Nintendo Store team, thank you for registering your interest to purchase the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system from Nintendo.

We wanted to let you know that you're still in the queue to purchase, and to share with you a handful of updates on what to expect.

What happens now

There's nothing you need to do right now.

The first invitations to purchase through the My Nintendo Store have begun going out. Invitations will continue to go out periodically until all eligible registrants receive an opportunity to purchase (as they become available). Due to a high number of registrations, we can't provide exact timing on when you can expect to receive your invitation.

When it's your turn, we'll send you an email inviting you to shop.

If you pre-order or purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from a retailer and later receive an invitation to purchase Nintendo Switch 2 from My Nintendo Store, you are not required to purchase the system from My Nintendo Store.

When to expect your invitation

We do have a lot of registrations and apologize that we can't provide exact timing. Rest assured that we'll continue sending invitations past the system's launch date.

I mean it was nice of them to send a message saying absolutely nothing (i got that one too a couple weeks back), but how do they fuck this up so bad after seeing the PS5 launch disaster a few years back?

I got that same email a week ago 😮‍💨.

The Switch 2 pre-order/launch period hasn't been nearly that bad. The PS5 sold out in literal seconds for months from every retailer.

The Switch 2 during the initial preorder period was relatively easy to get if you were on one of the websites in the first 10-15 minutes. They also advertised the date and time in which preorders would be available.

True but all the retailers blew their preorder load very quickly that first day and have had no more since. Sites like walmart and others were shitting the bed regularly that day also so it was far from a good experience. So at this point if you want one from a retailer your only hope is to brave the hordes on launch day. Oddly this seems to be a US problem only since on here i see reports of other countrys still having preorders available at retailers easily.

Hopefully retailers have some kind of system on launch day to separate the preorders from the launch day hopefulls.

I can't imagine standing in the same line with 30 other ppl that dont have a preorder

My local GameStop said they'll have us come in on June 4th and pay off our systems at 3pm. Then later at 9pm we come back with ID and receipt and there with be a separate pickup line for people who have already paid it off.

I guess there will be some food trucks, costume contest with a cool prize, and some other activities. Sounds fun.

That's pretty crazy. Your store must have received good stock.

I'd believe that, one of my nearby stores told me theyre expecting at least 100 systems (not including the 65 preorders)

Hell, the walmart I work at is expecting a bit over 50. Nintendo is going absolutely balls to the wall in the US

I don't think my local GameStop is even large enough to hold 165 systems. They'd have to sell them straight from the truck.

They said they would charge me soon, but that like 2 weeks ago but I haven't seen them pull any money from my card, anyone else got that? Also I ordered the GC controller as well now, couldn't be helped.

Anyone else disappointed there are only 11 Nintendo exclusives getting patched for Switch 2? Wtf is that? There are WAY more Nintendo published games then that and they would all benefit from an increase in fps and resolution. Here's a list of Nintendo PUBLISHED games that haven't been announced for Switch 2 updates:

None of the Xenoblade games are getting patched....Xeno 1+2 are notoriously low resolution. Age of Calamity is super low res! Hyrule Warriors cant do 60 fps in handheld.. Pokémon Arceus- good game with poor IQ. Bayonetta 3 with its horrible image quality and low resolution. Splatoon 3- how they aren't patching the recent Splatoon which again could really use better IQ is beyond me.

Some more- Kirby Star Allies which is only 30 fps ...Yoshi's Crafted World which is also extremely low res. Luigis Mansion 3, Tropical Freeze, AC New Horizons, Smash Ultimate for 4k tv play. Kirby Return to Dreamland. Pikmin 3 and 4 both need higher resolution to look decent on a 4k tv. Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remaster could both really benefit from higher resolution. Sword and Shield. Fire Emblem 3 Houses has terrible image quality. Astral Chain- needs 60 fps badly. Both Mario Rabbids games are blurry. Marvel Ultimate Alliance- hard to enjoy in handheld mode.

There are more but these are the ones that really could use a boost. It's very disappointing how it seems on console these companies will never just unlock all their games so people can better enjoy them on the newer, better hardware. MS and Sony also both stopped short with patching their games for ps5/sx and Nintendo seems to be following the same trend even though these updates shouldn't be a big deal. It's like they will throw us a small bone and thats it.

I want to see more first and third parties games upgraded but what is the likely hood of that happening? BC is already hard enough but getting devs to go back and enhance their games? Good luck with that. Maybe just maybe the Switch 2 will be the trend setter for this.

There's probably more they just aren't showing them yet to push more sales in a few months.

Is Costco in store only? They will basically be my conduit for Nintendo because they do 10% off eShop and physical games. I have a preorder, but they have a bundle with online that I will get anyways and are selling the pro controller. I am getting this ( I mean using this) as a gift for my oldest and his birthday is a bit after launch.

Really curious to see if this thing even becomes scarce. I think it will, but It might take a couple of days to burn through the stock that is in store.

I am but I am always disappointed with Nintendo. Gotta wonder if they are planning Switch 2 editions for some of the games. The upgrade with added content is rolling out for some of the games to supplement the weak launch, but I suspect that they will experiment with it later in the lifecycle of the system to drum up sales of older titles.

Do you guys ever seeing a Wii Nintendo classic coming out? Mario 64 and soon Sunshine will be out. Galaxy will be the only one not separate from super Mario 3D All-Stars. They don't even have to make a controller for it, you can just use the joy-cons.

Not a big Mario kart fan and the donkey kong game looks kind of mediocre. Will wait for a new proper 3D Mario game before I buy one.

I also don't think it will be hard to get one at all. Sure now it looks like Switch 1 all over again, but pretty sure a big number of people actually don't want one, but hope to sell it for a profit. So after a week or so, I can see systems sitting on the shelves.

It is probably easier for Switch 2 to offer enhanced versions than Series X because of the translation layer they made. However, you can't just instantly make everything work perfectly. For example, Yoshi's Crafted World is mostly 2D assets pretending to be 3D that are animated for 30fps. You can't just magically make that 4k at 60fps and if you force it then it just looks bad. Something like enhanced Pikmin 4 would actually be much easier to pull off.

But even for games where you technically could, the UI elements are made for lower resolutions and weren't designed around adaptive scaling, so you'd have to go through and redo all that so you don't end up with microscopic text and alignment bugs. So with a lot of lesser games, you have to wonder if it is worth going back and redoing a bunch of such elements to make it work properly. Yeah the DLSS can manage that on PC but that is because devs originally created the UI there with adaptive scaling in mind.

Now, for games that are a bigger deal, like Luigi's Mansion 3, Splatoon 3, Smash, Xenoblade and such, you'll probably want to do a full on "Switch 2 version" to do it really well for one and then secondly to cover the costs by selling the upgrade. I'm sure we'll see a lot of enhancing patches since it's so damn easy and they may want to use bigger ones as a pull for NSO, but it does take some effort to go back and adjust what isn't just the 3D part.

There were so many sour grapes on the internet claiming "Why I don't need a Switch 2" or "Why I'm not getting a Switch 2 at launch" because they couldn't get one during the initial preorder frenzy.

I wonder how many of those sour grapes still don't need/want one now that there's clearly more stock available for launch... 🤔

Some of the reproduction Gamecube controllers they have done over the years either weren't very good or flat out broke with little use (Smash bundle). Meanwhile I still have Wavebirds that work. So I think I will wait until it's out in the wild to make a judgement call on this this thing. The N64 controller is a bit more coveted to me because there is no other officially sanctioned way to connect one to a Switch.

Nope, I'll be getting the revised model or OLED. Been doing that since DS Lite when it comes to Nintendo.
