Crazy there was never a price cut for Switch 1 or Lite. But inflation after Covid probably didn't help. Them saying market conditions sounds like it's going up in price? Only the Switch 2 should be seeing a price increase not the old tech. Ridiculous.

Well...with the first Switch still like 6.5M below the PS2, the fact it only sold 900k this past quarter (and Switch 2 was in stores for only 1 month) and now a price increase...it's starting feel like PS2 may be able to keep its record.

It is just totally bonkers that Switch 1 would require a price increase at this point.

8 year old hardware that wasn't even cutting edge when it came out.

That wasn't because of Covid; that was a long time ago, and many electronic devices have dropped in price.

Realistically, that's thanks to the fat guy who drinks Coca-Cola and came to annoy the world.

Wages went up dramatically after covid. I would know. I got a $4 pay raise (which is the highest the company had ever done in its 50 years) because of the high prices of everything else. And no. Lots of things are more expensive then they were back then. It's ridiculous.

Jesus christ...I don't give a fuck about tariffs. This is just pure greed at this point, because they've been keeping the Switch 1 too high in price for a long time. The price should have gone down a long time ago, so even with tariffs, the price should just be balancing out what it SHOULD be.

What a fucking joke to increase the price 8 years+ after release.

If anything they are saying "DO NOT BUY IT AND... instead get a NS2"

But the base console should be $199 and include MK8 or something

FUCKIN ALARMO!?

No Way Do Not Want GIF

Exactly. Remember when console would go down to $99 or something near end of life? That wasn't just a bargain, but was an opportunity to get people to buy who just wouldn't buy at any other price. They would make money with all the extra software sold. $199 should be the price of Switch 1 at this point, no more.

The margins have to be good on this right? Like I don't understand how this hardware would cost much as it is pretty basic/modest hardware. Even the storage capacity is low by today standards.
Is this it would be very healthy but in this day and age… who knows.

All I know is that my 5 year old switch can be sold for nearly the same price I paid for it

Yep, most all consoles at end of life had $99-$199 w/games deals. Dating back to the NES. Now they CHARGE MORE lol :messenger_grinning_sweat:

this shit would never gonna fly 20 years ago, fuck it 10 years ago, but now ? it seens that everyone got a brain rot, wtf is happening to consumers ???
I swear, they're being trained and molded to be dumber. I don't mean that figuratively. They are way more willing to just put up with bull shit then ever before, and just take it, and these companies love it.

Consumers are the biggest morons to ever exist, shit I am a consumer too, I know, but on no multi-verse would I buy this shitty 2010 hardware for $350 in 2025.

It's just a matter of time before Switch 2 goes up in price too.
