Sword Art Online Episode 13

First part was pretty zzz

Second half I actually liked a lot.

After the terribly boring previous arc I was totally ready to completely write this episode off but this damn show keeps pulling me back in right when I start to lose interest in it. The CG was lame but I liked the design of the boss enough to just not care about it. Could've used more action™ instead of those annoying still frames but I thought it was good regardless.
I'm gonna cry if Klein or Agil get killed by that boss :(

Looking forward to next week.

Are we going to get all the people from the mary sue thread coming in and regurgitating what they read off tvtropes?

It's kind of funny, because before that thread was created I never even saw someone bring it up, but now it seems people are trying to use it as a reason to discredit or dislike the characters even though it's likely that characters that they like from other works also fit that trope.

Anyway, Sword Art Online 13

I like that they are getting back into the action/moving forward through the game world. I didn't really mind the previous episodes in that they were pretty much the "calm before the storm" which would be this episode. I think they were to show how peaceful SAO could be and how people might actually want to stay there. Because the alternative is possibly losing your life trying to clear the game or returning to an unfulfilled life in the real world.

Looking forward to next episode as usual.

SAO - 13

If I see that lake with that same guitar music opening another episode, I will do something drastic. The first half of the episode felt like a complete throwaway. That
cliffhanger was horribly placed for the show. I heard the soruce material was the same though so I shouldn't be surprised, but it was pretty shitty here.

glopglopglop

Perhaps this was answered in the show itself but
with the players being in the game world for so long, how is it that they are still alive in the real world? How are they getting food and the like and not... having their bodies shut down from lack of nutrients?

They kind of addressed that in ep 13.
apparentrly they are being taken care of in a hospital

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that
only a few hours have passed IRL
. I haven't read the novels, so it's just a guess.

One of the reasons I gave up on this show. I really liked the first episode, but after that it just turns into a typical fantasy anime. I'm sure you're just supposed to go along with it but not having explanations about it, or hearing no news on the outside world bothered me.

So it doesn't seem like I'm ignoring this thread:

Sword Art Online 13 - unlucky for some
Especially no name extras

If you fly online you fly in real life.

The whole show should be about the chill life of the normal folk in this game. They are far more interesting. Once you've seen one battle you've seen them all. Fishing is far more griping.

Look at this guy's face. He's more kawaii than any of the girls.

That wouldn't be possible unless the nervgear has something that directly interferes with perception of time or slows it down since all it does is reroute functions of the brain that it would give to the human body.

lol this garbage...

let me warn you guys what this show is about
-food. digital food tastes great. generic "IT'S DELICIOUS!" comments everywhere. two to ten minutes of EACH EPISODE will be based on fake food.
-solo player nonsense when he isn't really a solo player
-girl can't live on without her "badass" main character
-lots of "you're amazing" because this person grinded many hours killing monsters for xp.
-boy solves a lot of problems. in the rare chance he doesn't...
-his girl who is somehow more perfect than him solves it
-almost all male characters are incompetent. and old. the main character is the only one drawn to look nice. i suppose this was done to make the boy even cooler and amazing

it's a horrible show guys. but i watch it with my friend who's really into it so....it's a fun show to hate on i guess. when we're watching it together, i shout out insulting comments to ruin the experience, act like clint and start talking to one of the characters, yell "watch out" when there's danger, and etc.

another reason i actually watch it is to find out why the game creator did all this, and what's his dying words when the main character finally reaches him.

idk if he will reach him, my friend said it's based on several novels, but won't spoil it for me. i wonder how the show will even address something like...what happens to the physical body? if the boy does make it out of the game, would he need rehab? or will he magically walk it off, and buy the sequel to the game and roll a mage.

Show captures guild drama dynamics so well and gives proper respect to those that level fishing in MMOs. AOTY.

Episode 13

This episode is Takahiro Shikama's directorial debut. He storyboarded and directed the episode, and he's one of the regular animators on the show and one of the action animation directors. As expected, the characters are MUCH more expressive this week, with some great faces and subtle character animation. It was really enjoyable... except... there was too much Asuna as usual. I can't wait for the promised day where they swap out all her scenes for more Silica cameos! YES!!!

Okay, the CG at the end there was pretty dodgy, and even the CG animation felt kinda iffy. But the character actions were pretty great, even if they had to use a bunch of stills because there was too much happening. Lol. I caught a few cuts where
they used hand drawn action for the boss instead though. I think one was when the tail attacked. That looked great!

Can't wait for next week! :D

Oh jesus this has an OT now? Fuck yeaaaaaah.

Episode 13

In general a really fun episode. I really loved how emotive all the characters were, especially Kirito during the conversation at their house. It was a really nice change of pace.

The episode was a solid mix of drama, romance and action, so all the bases were covered.

Like duckroll said, the CG for the Skull Reaper was kind of iffy, though I figured they'd go that route when I first read the novel. There were still some great shots of animation throughout the battle though and I applaud the track choice toward the end.

I also liked the randomly excellent piece of animation when Asuna defeated the lake beast in the first half. Kind of threw me off guard!

Next week should be pretty good as well. Psyched!

EDIT: Also, I posted this in the anime OT, but I went to the store the other day and SAO displays are still everywhere. This particular one was surrounded by young women who were buying Kirito merch. The ladies seem to love Mr. Batman.

SAO displays are actually all really cool. One of them has life bars around the characters and an MMO UI. All hand made by the store of course.

Started watching this the other day out of morbid curiosity and ended up catching up to episode 12.

It's enjoyable enough to continue but fairly predictable, especially for a "death game" story. duckroll promised me that Kirito was Batman and he was right!

Goddamn I feel like I've missed out on something special, since I never got around to watching past the first episode.:(

Also where is the infamous "asuna" character I've been hearing about?

I still don't get exactly how he is batman.

Duckroll hype working its magic.

Brooding genius detective who has the right tools for any situation and can do anything given enough prep time. Also kind of a dick.

Plus the women.

-solo player nonsense when he isn't really a solo player
He is ..in the two years he spent all his time alone except in the rares cases the show is showing you and during boss fights.
-girl can't live on without her "badass" main character
-lots of "you're amazing" because this person grinded many hours killing monsters for xp.
He is amazing because he can do stuff other people can't.. If soloing was easy in a game you're risking your life .. that would be an issue but here it isn't.
-boy solves a lot of problems. in the rare chance he doesn't...
-his girl who is somehow more perfect than him solves it
-almost all male characters are incompetent. and old. the main character is the only one drawn to look nice. i suppose this was done to make the boy even cooler and amazing
I love when you're critizing the fact that stuff is happening.

You'redoing a greta job at it.

The show does adress that ..but it doesn't matter since you're not "that" really intrested.

-Using Silica as live bait
-Breaking Lizbeth's merchandise
-Being a show offy douche in his duel against Sir Foreveralone
-Telling Egil to get bent when he asks for some of that delicious rabbit
etc

Of course. Except that
Kirito actually gets laid.

Hmm.... You make a compelling case...

Genius detective and prep time are a bit of a stretch here. And how is Kirito known for using tools and gadgets?

The tools and gadgets here are the MMO systems. He's supposedly smart enough to know how to best give himself an advantage with what the games lets him use, and he's pretty much always using it FOR JUSTICE.

Oh and SAO Ep3+ & The Dark Knight spoiler:
Sachi is his Rachael! <3 <3 LOOOOOOOOOOL.

Meh. Justice is overrated. Kirito is a selfish jerk.
