It is not really an issue of the $5 difference.
It is that it feels like a "fuck you" when you basically had no chance of taking advantage of wanting to be an early bird.
I mean, again, it's true that you weren't in the first 1% of backers so you missed it, but the first 10% of backers has already passed so someone who, like, saw a movie or had a meeting this afternoon would miss it if they expanded the number of early-birds to 2500 which is a huge jump. It doesn't mean those people aren't hardcore fans.
It sometimes feels crummy when there's benefits to people who get in on the ground floor, but I feel like arguing for a slightly larger ground floor, just large enough to let yourself in, isn't really all that productive. And remember that this only impacts people who want to do the bare minimum pledge to begin with, so if you wanted to go for any tier higher than the bare minimum, it doesn't matter whether you missed the early bird or not.
