Besides Lymle, Meracle, and Sarah, I think all the characters started out pretty good. But the twists that some of them take were so bad, I almost stopped playing the game.

Even though I hate Faize's character arc, I think I have to agree that he was the best character in the game.

I think I enjoyed Graces more than Xillia (though I liked Xillia despite some of the issues I had with it; the plat's kinda boring, though since it's pretty grindy. Easy, but somewhat grindy).

I've been saying it since... How long Schala? Rofl. If anyone, NB included, wanted Tales to continue coming they should've released Xillia instead of Graces.

I was talking to someone who is playing through Trinity Universe - an even more niche game. I asked if they were going to buy Tales and they told me they never even heard of Tales.

I cried.

I live in a world where Tales is lesser known than Trinity Universe.
Go anecdotes!



Also, when I say "story", I use that term to include both "characters" and "setting". I just don't like to say "story/characters/settings" every time. If I mean like actual events that happen through a game or whatever, then I usually say "plot". I don't know if I'm using those words incorrectly though. (Someone let me know if I am!)

It's the same for me. I can find great amounts of enjoyment from even a mediocre story, especially if the characters are interesting.

I know next to nothing about the story and characters of Graces, so I hope they're memorable.

I have no idea why I play WRPGs, anymore. Skyrim, for example, was bland and boring, but I still sunk over 140 hours into it. Games like that have an odd hold over a person, while they're playing it. Must be the exploration.
I greatly enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur, though. Pretty standard WRPG fare all around, except for the combat, which was an awesome change to the wrpg standard.

When they annonced localizing Graces F xillia wasn't even Out..
That's how slow this localisation was. At this point we'd better have them all in order than to have missing links AKA unlocalised games ..

BY the time they annonce localizing xillia and then spent time to localize it , it'll be too late.
(also one of the reason i went to play xillia first )

IF Graces F localization didn't take so long , there wouldn't even have a problem about Tales future in the west.. IMO

Let me rephrase myself so I'm "technically" more correct. I said NB shouldn't have announced Graces at all and said they should just wait and localize the next mothership Tales game. Same difference.

Xillia is certainly more "acceptable looking" than graces. NB could have marketed Xillia (lol yeah right) towards people who have "been waiting for jRPGs to make a comeback" or other such nonsense.

Graces just seems like something only fans of the series would like.

I don't think it's absolutely vital for Namco to "catch up" with the localization. I just want them brought over regularly.
RGG/Yakuza was way behind for the longest time too. I didn't mind that much - as long as we got it.

I wonder if Xillia may have been the more palatable game for fans more familiar with Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia than Graces (casting aside that I like Graces very much). Especially since it's the most recent one... though fans still cry out for Vesperia PS3 and that game's been out for a while.

Then again, Tales fans are fickle and can't really make up their minds with regards to which game they want localized.

It doesn't help that a new Tales game is put out every year or so (be it mothership or escort).

I never played a Tales game before I guess I will start with this one once I finish FFXIII-2.

I pre ordered 2 copies one at newegg for $48 and one at gamestop on Saturday for the DLC which I already paid it off with store credit. I might sell one xtra copy or just return it to gamestop

Just preordered my copy. Looks like it will be shipping with release-date delivery. Though I still won't have it in my hands until Friday/Saturday.

It's been ages since I've played a Tales game (last one was Vesperia).

I've been a long time Tales fan with Vesperia being my personal favorite. I can't wait to place Graces. Hope it does well so Namco brings more over.

Just return it to Gamestop and say that your friend didn't like the gift and you want store credit to give to your friend as the present. That or use the money to buy a different game. I don't know.

Using Hubert is so fun. I'm playing the JP version right now too (first playthrough on NA account). As much as I think the English voiceovers are good, I'm gonna miss hearing some of the JP cast because some of them were great.

I've been having Asbel do this for a few battles, and Hubert do this (I prefer this one because I think it's cooler than his L2 Blast Caliber). Haven't gotten Level 3 Blast Calibers yet.

EX-Passion is better. Anyway, I stopped playing. I'm watching the walking dead now. Wondering if it's any good.

I haven't done the subquest for Ex-Passion on this playthrough yet. I should, though.

And yes, yes... I'll get on watching Fate/Zero a little later in the week. It'd better be good.

I gotta say, I really like what I've seen of the BC's in this game. I like the Mystic Artes in Team Symphonia titles, but these seem so much more swifter and holy shit, do they look like they hurt.

Well, Team Destiny games usually have quick and flashy hi-ougis, while Team Symphonia games can be as long as a FF summoning spell. (maybe not that long)
