Tales of Series | Community Thread | Localizing more games than Square Enix

I'll second that.

So in light of the recent bomb, do you guys think Namco is finally being serious with expanding the western fanbase of Tales series?

Absolutely. I've felt this way since Xillia and it's collector's edition were announced, but this convinces me even further. That's why I'm hoping the next few releases do well, because more Tales is a good thing.

Yeah, they seem to be doing a lot of effort to please us and push the franchise overseas. I really makes me want to support them day one.

I guess all that ENTHUSIASISM payed off eh guys? :p

The most important part now is that it has pay off for them so we can continue to enjoy the games.

Xillia being multi 5 will help a lot in EU as the press will take the game more seriously to it's benefit and players will be more inclined to buy the game since they don't have to bother with english.

I preordered ToX the other day, and now we're getting X2. I'll be supporting the two + the ToS HD collection.

Maybe one day Tales of Rebirth will get an English release!

ahahahahha

it's as likely as Vesperia PS3 NA isn't it :(

Only if it ever gets a 3D remake on a viable worldwide platform.

Ew, no. Namco's going to ruin that.

I didn't say I want that, but just that it would be the only way Rebirth would have a chance of translation. I love Rebirth as it is.

Though I'd love for it to be translated someday so people can experience the amazing story.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I'd kill for a Tales of Vesperia Vita Edition.

Don't you need a hacked PS3 to run the patch though?

i've spent far too much on psn to just modify my system.

I can live without rebirth and if it happens that a future port of it gets a NA release but until then eh.

The Tales of Rebirth patch is for PSP and PS2.

My ps2 crapped out on me a year ago, and since I have no plans on buying a new one + they don't even make CRT tv's anymore I guess I gotta live without

There is a fan patch underway for the game. That will be good enough for me. Cannot wait.

If that ever does come out, I'll probably replay it then. Rebirth is so fun. <3 the awesome hi ougis too. And Mao has my favorite spell in the series (Blazing Hearts <3).

I'll second that.

So in light of the recent bomb, do you guys think Namco is finally being serious with expanding the western fanbase of Tales series?

In light of Xillia 2's announcement and their localization of Project X Zone, I think they've found a business structure that can merit some kind of return even for its niche fanbase. We probably won't get games like Hearts R and Innocence R in the near future, but I think Namco is starting to put in enough of an effort so that overseas fans don't have to question whether or not main games will come over each and every time.

Basically, I think they are going to start actually picking and chosing their battles (Graces F, Symphonia HD, Xillia 1/2) as opposed to just missing everything or not having any kind of coherent scheme for releases like in recent years (here's Abyss! Here's Radiant Mythology and nothing else! Here's Vesperia 360 but no PS3! No Hearts/Innocence!)

Xillia 2 looked like it had some really cool ideas, I'm happy I get to play it.

Already have collector's Xillia & Symphonia collection pre-ordered, & I'll have to add Xillia 2 to that list as soon as I can.

It really is good how Namco decided to push Tales at this very time. Xillia is definitely more along the lines of something that would interest the US compared to Graces. And with Symphonia being a pretty popular US Tales game, it's great that they're doing what they're doing. Hopefully all this momentum carries over to the next mothership title.

And hopefully all this pays off for them. If it doesn't, well...

Yup, I agree. I hope it serves to make them bring more mothership titles to the west (and even escort titles when they're actually pretty good). Good. I'm glad Namco's actually localizing stuff now.

I guess I have to not play Remember Me and finish Xillia 2 after I finish Uncharted now, eh? Haha.

It's nice that they're bringing over more Japanese games, that's why I like Japanese devs. If I wanted a western or western-influenced game I'd buy them from western developers. Namco has its niche and it would do well to grow that as much as possible. In fact, the Tales of series could easily be the second or third biggest JRPG franchise in the west if well managed. I think there's a saying about Japanese hamburgers or some such.

Either way, I like this direction. If it comes down to either text only translation or not at all I would prefer text only since I would like to know how the gameplay works without having to refer to a translation guide constantly. It's a goddamn miracle that PXZ made it over, it should be supported so Namco sees it as a valid source of income.

So this is the Tales-of filled year. I remember being skeptical of it or being otherwise douche-y about the notion in the past but this definitely cements it. The announcements suffice.

It certainly seems that way and it warms my heart. So happy. I hope Sega copies off of whatever it is Namco's doing. Perhaps Namco has extra dinero from other stuff they work on as publisher: Ni No Kuni, From Software games. And they're probably making money with their DBZ and Naruto fighters too.

I'd like to add that Namco Bandai is still looking for a Community Manager now that FilthieRich is gone to wherever it is he's at. Once they get a Community Manager who does ace work, they're golden.

Now lets see if Namco decides to bring future idolmaster games outside of Japan. They did the music rhythm game on iOS but the price was way too high.

Although I did notice on iTunes they're doing a week sale for the iOS games because of some event at Japan Expo...
So maybe they didn't forget that series.

i'm actually quite happy by xillia 1&2 localisation... this means that there is a big chance that the next main line tales will be localised as well and that please me greatly.

Kayos , a quick word to say that ..well ...... i want to say something but i have no more words ...

so cute

Guys, a quick break from the localization excitement.

For those who have played the Vita Tales of games, would you say Tales of Hearts R or Tales of Innocence R was better? I've never played either when they released on the NDS.
