Not sure where you're hearing about the bad voice acting part.
From IGN's review.

I apologize. It wasn't my intention to spoil anything.
I was just a little disappointed that the voice acting wasn't great for the English version and wanted to see the difference between the Japanese version.
Sorry.

Well I'm sorry for calling you an ass.
However you should consider that we've been waiting a long time for this game in English so a lot of people are going to be testy about any story details being properly spoilered.
If you want an example of how angry people can get check out when it comes to spoilers check out the Game of Thrones or Shingeki no Kyojin anime threads.
They only complained about Milla's voice though.
My collector's edition arrives tomorrow!
How many people bought a collector's and a limited edition version of this game?
I'm thinking maybe I should pick up a Limited to actually play the game so to keep the Collector's sealed....
Just the character book:
You get trophies as you complete the chapters, so those are the only story-related trophies (there areNo story related trophies? Seems like you can get a chunk of them when you're almost done with the game.
Since she's the main character and she will talk a lot in this game, I don't want to cringe every minute.
It can ruin a game. Arc Rise Fantasia is a really good RPG but the voice acting was so bad it nearly killed it. I endured through it and still enjoyed the game though.

Why do Tales soldier grunts all look the same?
Does the R3 version have a proper booklet?
They only complained about Milla's voice though.
Would this game be a good introduction to the tales series? From what I can see I can choose between this and tales of graces on PS3.

If you actually expect the voice acting to be anywhere near Arc Rise Fantasia level, you might not be thinking clearly.Since she's the main character and she will talk a lot in this game, I don't want to cringe every minute.
Tales of Xillia is a good example of how to make a enjoyable and relevant japanese role play game in this time and age. Gameplay wise this Tales of is modern, despite it doesn't abandone the formula they have used in almost every game in the saga. It's sad that everything except the combat system could have been better, but Hideo Baba has recognized that the game's development time frame was to short and they need to cut somethings: every port looks the same in every city, more monster designs would have been nice, the game seems rushed in some parts -the ending doesn't explain to well every character future- and the secondary content is only for who wants to completely explore the game. They are mixed-feelings that remains when you finish a notable game in its core that would be a nice gift for Tales of fans, without being the best game in the saga.
But, on the other hand, most of their mistakes are forgettable -and happened becuase of the lack of money, not a lack of ideas- or stay in the dark due to the game's virtues. On the plus side, there is a very charismatic couple of main characters that multiplies the time the story (which is more and more interesting as you play) lasts, an art direction that is great in nearly every place we travel and one of the most fun and fluent combat systems we can play nowadays, which can be learned easily by old and new fans. Furthermore, it is the best way to enter in the world of Tales of Xillia 2, game that seems to be one of the top rated games in the saga. But it is something that we would review next year.
Namco Bandai and Team Tales Studio have made another nice JRPG, and, despite the time that has passed between it's Japanese and Western release, it is a high quality game. Battle system is what we have liked the most, battles are enjoyable and dinamyc, something vital in its development. Furthermore, the characters are good, the localization (in Spanish) it's correct and technically is nice but doesn't shine (neither sound, not graphics...). A great JRPG.
Although I have preordered it long time ago, I need to ask this.
My favourite Tales game is Tales of destiny on PS1.
Will I like Tales of Xillia?
Does anyone know when this would be up on US PSN, uk time? I want to start the us version while waiting for the uk version to come out.
Would they even be able to use the same save file?
I should be able to switch the save regions. I've done it before.
How do you go about doing that? Would probably do the same if i can use my save file still.
Does anyone know the average length of this game? Might pick it up earlier than expected.
Graces didn't really have any strategic depth, it was just as spammy as any other tales game, lost all resource management and you could breeze through the entire game entirely off of the around step mechanic with semi decent reaction times. Fancy combos doesn't really equal strategic depth.
I would give the nod in story cast and combat all to Vesperia but I can't comment yet on Xillia since I didn't end up importing it. Vesperia has more strategic depth based off having resource management alone.
I'm so looking forward to playing Xillia because it seems to be more 'up my alley' aside from the things I've heard about the boss fights.
What's wrong with the boss fights?
