Crits are stupid!
If you use a mic you get additional points which is a percentage of your current total. It just more points for a better chance to play in the highlander.
Yeef told me the points were only used to balance the teams once the players were selected.

So really, how rare are the series #40 crates? I never got a series #30 during their run, but I just had a #40 drop...
They are the rarest ones that drop now. Then eventually it will be the summer crates, and then the winter crates, and then the #60 crates..... ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........

Salvaged are rare, but the seasonal crates seem to keep to the regular crate drop rate because of their short expiry window.

The only things that determine who gets to play are priority and class selections. Points are just for balancing the teams once the players are picked.

It's based on how many points, on average, you get per hour you've connected to the server in the last 30 days. So if, for example, you've played for an hour total in the last 30 days and you got 300 points, your points would be 300.
*These are stats points, not in-game points.
I signed up for it just to see where'd I'd rank by points, but, I probably won't be able to make it. I haven't been playing much tf2 lately though, so I'm really out of practice anyway...
Things like tonight's shenanigans are the reason my score is so low.
Just withdraw. That way you won't be selected.

Of course. It's ALWAYS active.
CFG does affect the replays, but I'm not sure that quality settings necessarily do. I just know that I always have to turn on viewmodels before I render a replay, because I have them off by default. There are a couple of replays, like this one, where I've had TF2 crash then forgot to turn on view models before rendering and they have none.
Oh, right, I almost forgot, the next highlander event (after this coming Tuesday's event) will be the following Tuesday (i.e. a week after the last one).
Apparently Javaman works every other Tuesday and as we have it now all of the Tuesdays we'd be doing highlander are the Tuesdays where Java would be working. So, to accommodate him, the next event will be on the following Tuesday and every event after that will be two weeks later.

My main laptop died but i needed my tf2 fix, so i tried to make it run on my shitty Eee PC netbook with Atom N455 processor.
