google already disabled the API to retrieve the actual dislike counts from their backend. the dislikes are now based on users that use the extension and the counts are stored by the extension makers.

Yes, people specifically install plug ins or use Youtube Vanced to see the downvote count because why the fuck wouldn't you want to see if a video is worthwhile before watching it? That's the whole point.
Or are you upset people don't like the changes they made to the non-animated adaptation of the movie? You don't need a downvote viewer to know that, just read the comments.

No, that's not the point of the downvote button. The downvote button is INTENDED to allow the uploader to guage interest and response from people whove watched the video. But downvote bombing is obviously not reflective of that. Its calculated effort to manipulate it and use as an argument point which is what I said. All of those downvotes were going to be downvotes the moment they clicked on the video link lol.
Read the comments to see people complaining about seeing a black person in a movie? Yeah I'll pass. Don't need to see that. I'm well aware where that "position" stems from, and how the youtube comment section encourages that sort of thing.

You were fine when Disney messed with the source material the first time. The red hair, the singing, sebastian and flounder were all inventions by Disney. Because these movies are ADAPTATIONS which by design adapt, not copy.

and no, YT creators don't say "please like & subscribe" to gauge response. They do it so the algorithm pushes them up, how do you not know such a simple concept? Having your video pop up more in relevancy= more ad revenue. You can literally find 1000's of videos on this explaining why. Furthermore, you do realize 1 dislike & 1 like are equal in engagement on the backend, right? Which is why it's meaningful to have a dislike counter & the whole purpose of it, so people wouldn't waste their time on a video be it bullshit, scams or clickbait etc
The only people who benefited from the removal of the dislike counter were big cooperation's pushing agenda's. That's all it was. For every 1 YT creator you think agrees w/ you I'll find 100 YT creators disapproving the removal of the dislike counter for my exact reasoning.
Now back to the Little Mermaid. Did you just compare changing of hair color to the changing of a persons ethnicity? There's leeway w/ all source material but when you start making stark changes to literally the main character that's when it becomes a problem, as I noted in my previous post. No, it's not. That's at least not the main reason. Even one of the creators of you tube came out and said it was there so the people have a voice, and so other people could see that voice. You just accepted what you were told, that it was done to help protect small creators. If that was true, any channel with over 300k subscribers or whatever wouldn't be allowed to hide the votes. It was done to protect massive companies, news agencies, and politicians. It was done to give people even less of a voice.

Just to add to this, I have to think that not showing the like to dislike ratio makes people considerably LESS likely to like or dislike videos, because they don't feel that their voice can be seen by everyone. And since likes do help creators, I would imagine that's yet another big reason why most creators don't want the likes/dislikes hidden. As someone just browsing you tube, seeing JUST the likes without any context of the overall votes is essentially meaningless.

Disney's live action remakes aren't bad, at least those I've seen.
Jungle Book isn't great, but I found it a little less boring than the monstrously slow original.
Aladdin is average to good.
Dumbo is good. Does its own thing vs the cartoon and it's the better for that.
Beauty and the Beast is fine. I'm pretty sure if they did it today though, Belle would 100% be black.
