TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

What's up with some of the endings for past games in the gallery? I'm new to Tekken but I'm pretty sure some of these old endings end before they're finished. Like Gun Jack's ending from 3 ends right at the mushroom cloud, but I know that there's about six more seconds to that ending. Same with Anna's, I think. Are these the normal endings and the longer versions had some special requirement? Bummed these aren't the full versions.

Well double dipped and got the PC version. Should have gotten that version in the first place. The online is so much better, it's not even funny.

i just made a karin, no need to play sfv now

Armor moves are so good. It allows a scrub like me to easily deal with a jab/mid/low spam by Josie by armoring through them. Its not good to rely on them though...

I know right. Especially during long gameplay sessions so much time is saved on the PC version since it loads so much better than the PS4 version.

Can anyone explain d/f for me and how is that different from qcf???

d/f is down/forward. You basically have to tap d/f while pressing the appropriate buttons. If the arrow is white in the movelist that means you have to tap in the down+forward direction. But if the arrow is black that means you have to hold it down/forward before pressing the buttons.

Quarter circle is a good old fashioned hadoken motion. Not every character has qcf motions for moves but every character has d/f motion for moves.

d/f= hit down and forward at the same time
qcf= d->d/f>f

I see thanks guys it makes sense now.

Edit another question i noticed paul sways back sometimes after a punch like evasive maneuver how to do that?

Yep. I also feel that the competition is a little less stiff. I already made it to mentor in ranked on PC, whereas on PS4 I've been stuck on 2nd Dan for the better part of a week.

I'm getting characters flashing blue when they move in practice mode. Is this a common thing, or?

Edit: Oh. I'm an idiot. Recovery animation. :)

There is a move on his move list literally called sway. It might be that. Number 43. It's just quarter circle back.

I've had like 40 fights and 2 losses. I'm not even good. The game just doesn't match me with anyone that knows how to play.

I now know how to button buffer in Tekken thanks to Aris, which means I can FINALLY get that damn Dragunov stepkick combo extension for the dmg/carry.

Do you have a link for that?

It's pretty simple to explain:

If you hold a button down (even if the initial press performed a move), then you hit another button while you are still holding, the held button is buffered into the next input. I.E. F+1 (hold 1), 2 would produce F+1, 1+2. You can do this with multiple buttons if it is relevant (i.e. if you continued to hold 1+2 in that example, then hit 3, you'd get 1+2+3).

There is no frame window for this buffer, it is indefinite. Useful for when you have single inputs followed immediately by paired inputs, and the single input is used in the paired input, so you don't have to release it and it guarantees both buttons come out together on the same frame.

Damn this is nice. Don't think it's gonna help me much with Katarina or Kazumi right now but I can definitely see this being useful in the future.

Thanks guys.

I'm finding a LOT more 5 bar matches a lot quicker when I set my filter to 3 bars and above, instead of 5 bars only.
Also really love the revenge match function.

I started using a stick today. Gonna take me a while to readjust all I've learned so far, but progress is good. Haven't tried playing against real people on it, though--I want to be able to get movement down for a bit first.

It's crazy how much easier stuff is to pull off now, like those <--> moves. My Kuma game can only get better!

Also re: the Dragunov f+3~d/f~u stuff that Aris adressed, if you were having trouble with qcf inputs coming out instead of sidestep cancel, it's because you're inputting your command too soon. When doing it, try f+3~d/f~u~n and then whatever you want (4,1 or jab). Goes for any cancels of that nature really, consciously add a neutral input and suddenly mistakes like that won't happen. Even Aris did it once or twice in that video lol.

Holy shit that video changes everything.

The amount of depth in this game is staggering, even if some of it was unintentional.

I mean button buffering is very definitely intentional, but yes, there's some weird little quirks that made it past devs and they just rolled with it.

I think I'm gonna try to work on getting consistent at breaking King's grabs. I saw that Aris vid where he showed using the blue stuff/recovery animation to figure out when you can break out.

Only the punch buttons are used for throw breaking right? Either 1,2 or 1+2? There aren't any grabs that are broken with the kick buttons?

That's right.

But you can counter his figure four leg lock by pressing 3+4 at the right time. You still take damage, but your character does the throw in return, so king takes damage too. Looks just like a wrestling match.

Been playing Katarina since release to get use to the game and combos and such but have now moved to another character. Josie is really fun to play with, she has some pretty cool moves and the combos I have done so far seem very easy to land with good damage 55-70 damage. Going to check some info on her but so far really fun. Hope she isn't too unsafe havent looked at the frame data for her yet.

Fuck it. Double dipping on the ps4 version.

The PC player base online just isn't big enough. I'm hearing people rave about tournaments but can't find one on the PC version :( .

Man the more i learn this game, the more I fell in love i used to think Tekken games are just button mashing but how wrong i was.
we know.

That sounds badass. Thanks.

I have a nagging feeling I might just fall in love with King in trying to figure out how to fight against him. The rainmaker is just so appealing.

Plus I used him and Marduk in SFxTK

I take my Ls in treasure battle like a (losing) champ but damnit, I hate devil Kazumi. Hard to learn her when there's no retry and instead reverts to "start over". She's been getting harder as I rank up. About to fight her right now... let's see.

HA!

It's that damn auto-juggle escape into that dive when you're mid-animation. But I got her.

Thanks? I just have no idea what this dude is talking about. Is he talking about Hwoarang? He's the only character that kinda fits that description & he's hardly a party hard character.

Yeah I don't know. Maybe Josie or Nina. I'm guessing he lost to a Hwoarang and wanted to vent.

She can definitely cheese you. I just sidestep the unblockable and don't commit too hard to combos cause she can break out of them.

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
Still going in the never-ending quest to unlock all the game items. So I've now determined that:

-Playing 2000 matches unlocks everything for everyone except Eliza.
-Eliza still needs to purchase some items.
-You can get 'rare' custom items for other characters in treasure battle, but it takes forever.

I have Katarina currently "bot-spamming" her way through treasure battle with RK mapped to X and auto-fire on. Left it running for about eight hours overnight and woke up to find that a few of the items I still need for Eliza were unlocked. The game just keeps giving me money at this point even though I don't need it any longer, lol.

I played an eliza user earlier (store I pre-ordered from wasn't offering her) damn she looks cool. I'll buy her for sure.
