TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Yeah T5DR was amazing, but I am really liking the feel of T7. I'm not sure I'm down with the Rage Arts, as they really change the end game, and the excitement of seeing the super animation fades after the 10th time. Against the AI it's sort of an instant Win button, which I don't think helps new players really learn what to do in clutch situations.

I think the OSTs were mastered at different volumes over the years. Modern music tends to be mastered with "slammed" levels so that it sounds loud. Unfortunately they didn't go back and normalize all the music to the same level. I hope it's something they fix, because it is hard to hear the older soundtracks. I don't know why they didn't catch this during production.

Yeah T7's gameplay is at the very top of Tekken gameplay. Sorry DR but you've been surpassed after all this time. This game feels more grounded compared to the T6/TTT2 era and not only that but it has weight to it but you still float all over the stage if you need to.

Also yeah, they need to remaster these tracks. It's distracting on some stages because you don't even wanna play a stage with low music.

As a new player I too am dealing with 'move overload' a bit. That list of top 15 moves is helpful, but for Bryan, they're mostly juggle starters on counter-hit, and I'm having trouble following up with anything useful in the juggle. I assume it's just a matter of finding and memorizing combos at that point?

Man Aris is hilarious. I could listen to his strats all day long.

"5 janky ass combos are going to be better than 1 optimized combo."

Truth.

Yeah, he's funny as shit. Was listening last night and someone asked him about tier lists or something. he kinda humored them but explained how it doesn't matter as much with Tekken. Then, "Don't ever talk to me again"

Lots of genuine lols watching him stream any game, really.

Either my execution is getting worse or quarter circles in this are harder than in SF. For some reason I can't consistently throw the fireball with Akuma.

Drago is fun to play but man is he boring to watch.

He's my main, and if done right he can be fun to watch if you mix in a throw game in there. Alot of his attacks combo into hits that can transition into throws so his mixup is good if you can get your opponent to be overly defensive.

Once I learned this, he became even more fun to play.

Who's the most annoying/taunty character to play against? I'm new to Tekken but I like characters like Dan in SF.

I'd recommend Xiaoyu, but she's really complex. The OG annoying character is Eddy Gordo, he does capoeira. Very button mashable and tricky to block. I find Lili really annoying. Alisa is very annoying in an anime way -- she can fly around, she can turn her head into a bomb, she has chainsaws, etc.

I've always found the motion is a lot slower in Tekken games.

It's curious, because the motion should be easier than the do motion, but I can get that I e out consistently.

Gonna watch some CEO now in the hopes of learning something. Still not sure who to main. I like Dragunov, Kazuya and Katarina at this point. Lucky Chloe is also actually fun to play, but boy do I hate everything else about her.

Quarter circles, half circles are much harder in tekken. And the dp motion for crouch dashes must pass through neutral unlike sf where it can be sort of rubbed out.

She is even the best character in the game

Lucky Chloe.

Thanks!

I'm enjoying ranked. Just sitting here, watching people come up, accepting it, then connection being lost.

This is actually unacceptable that the PS4 online is this bad.

Maybe I just need to get back into Tekken mode. It has been so long since 6.

This Jukebox is amazing.

The reputation it has for being hard to learn is unfortunate and completely misleading. A good way to see what it's about it to get a copy of vf4 or vf4 evo for ps2 and play around with the kumite mode and guided training mode. Blows away any single player experience in any other fighting game.
I'll definitely get around to that.

this is happening to me as well. glad to know im not the only one with this issue, as i thought it was my connection or something.
it's frustrating tho! i just wanted to play a little bit before work.
hope it gets fixed soon.

Honestly the only streamer I follow. He has good insights and his commentary leaves me in tears.

Loving the game at the moment. Trying to ease off of Akuma because I kinda feel bad using him. Been labbing up with Kazuya and gonna try to take him online later. With spirits to quench my salt.

I love King but I never warm up to his gameplay. I wish I would.

The slow-mo end to rounds leads to some hype moments. A very good addition imo.

King has some of the best mixups in the game. A lot of his more unsafe moves do a lot of pushback too. It's good to learn his throw combos as well. Not because you should expect to use them a lot in higher competition, but it gives you more ammunition for mid/throw mixups.

Sticking with Claudio to start out but I definitely want to try out Kazumi a bit more and do some of the characters I played in Tag 2.

I really hope this gets sorted out soon (as in hours or over the weekend, not days or weeks). How this can happen after delaying the game for so long boggles my mind.

As a new player don't worry about the move list. As you become more experienced you'll appreciate there is more to explore when you "newness" is done.

Here is a simple three things to remember:

1) movement, movement, movement. Really Tekken is more of a game about out positioning the opponent with good movement. And punishing the opponent when they whiff and attack.

2) Learn what are your "launches" so you can punish an opponent when they whiff.

3) learn your poke moves (kinda like footsies in SF) use your pokes to set up opponents for the launchers.

Keep it simplified to those three things and you you'll be one your way.

For newcomers, I'm sticking with Kazumi. Josie is really fun but I don't feel comfortable with her pokes at all. Katarina's cool too, but I'm not crazy about her launchers. I like that Kazumi has the Mishima 1,1,2 and I like her d/f+1 a lot. Also noticed her d/b+2 is kinda like Heihachi's which is totally awesome. fff+2 is fucking awesome too.

For older characters, I've been toying with Dragunov and Heihachi again. I've gotten really bad at crouch dash cancelling which sucks since I'm losing a lot of options with Drag. Hei's fun as always, love doing EWGF.

Can't get SRK inputs as consistently with Eliza as I do with Akuma. Are her inputs intentionally more strict or is it simply because Akuma can usually cancel into his while Eliza can't so the timing is causing problems?

Chloe is so annoying...Harada says she is not Japanese(American probably) and is an Otaku Akihabara addict, yet gives her a super thick Japanese accent with full on engrish dialect with Japanese being her spoken language in cutscenes..
