One change I'm grateful for is the that they got rid of that generic red wave ripple that permeates accross the screen when someone gets rage and is now just a burst of red aura. Does wonders to improve the presentation
before the TTT2 recycled customs + troll accessories ruin it again

After watching these latest vids (especially the Akuma ones) I have to make a comment.

If there was just one thing that annoyed me the most about Virtua Fighter, it was the inconsistency of the gravity. It bothers me like a thorn on the sole how the gravity changes when Vanessa does her 9P Superman punch compared to the glide from the jump while holding guard. Same thing with other jumping moves like Sarah's 9PKG vs regular jump.

This was probably the biggest flaw in VF's presentation that always made me appreciate Tekken in motion more than VF. Jumping in Tekken always felt like the characters still had some weight (From Tekken 3 onwards). But in T7:FR Akuma's jumps are are way floatier than the other jumps. And that one vid that shows his neutral jump is some Tekken 2 jump kick levels of moon gravity. And related to that, the same thing happens when an early tailspin move is landed during a juggle. The trajectory of the opponent getting hit has a far floatier gravity factor compared to late tailspin. That inconsistency is something I'm not a fan of.

Just another thing I have to come to terms with as Tekken is rapidly distancing itself from actual martial arts and more into fantasy.

All this Nina and Akuma

Meanwhile, I want to see if my boy Yoshimitsu got any new stuff.

Kazuya's b+4 is just 4 from df+1,4...Amazing work, thank you. :p Oh well, at least he kicks Akuma's ass pretty easily.

Meanwhile new moves.

I wanna see that Kings fff+3 and ws+3 but seems no one recorded King's matches.

So like here's the thing..that's gameplay. There's no presentation merit to that. That's just how the game works. Its like when people hate how Tekken movement looks lol.

So does Akuma have something more like Tekken strings or more like SF normals? Anyone know?

I know his specials are the traditional SF inputs..

His SF4 strings were changed into Tekken strings. Like double roundhouse that was just HK is now 4,3. He has 2,1 similar to Jinpachi, but he had that also in USF4. He has ws+4,4 that is his close HK in Street Fighter. Other then that I think his gameplay focuses on canceling singular moves.

I see. So is it mostly 1 or 2 hit strings then? Or also some longer stuff?

Akuma seems to need meter to do any sort of damage. He also seems to lack any sort of decent ranged wiff punisher. His d+3 seems good and his standing 3 but outside of that he looks to not have a lot of solid moves. We need more footage of people experimenting with the character.

Today I learned:

- Commentary is kind of exhausting. I can see why certain commentators end up sounding like they have zero energy near the end of a tournament even though all they are doing is sitting there and talking.

- Ninth Pixel asked for no cursing, but I totally forgot that I had Mobb Deep's Shook Ones pt. 2 as my Tekken Tunes for the Snoop Dog stage. I should probably change that...

- Even though people know they are coming into an online tournament with the high possibility of lag, and have a rule in place in regards to dealing with laggy matches, they will still complain and rage quit when they run into a laggy match.
You did a very nice job, Manny. It does get discouraging at times to hear the complaints, but you just push forward. Look forward to next week as Fingers To Fight does it's part to keep the Tekken ship afloat in America. 20+ entries for a weekly ain't bad at all for a "dead" game, not bad at all.

No real opinion from me on T7FR. Won't be able to play it till the cows come home, so may as well play Tag 2.

Good find on those new moves Grayfox.
Hopefully tomorrow when I wake up we will have direct feed footage from the upcoming stream. Morning coffee with T7 FR in hd on a big screen - why not?

Thanks. Yeah, I wanted to wait but screw that, too many nights ruined already waiting from streams from Japan.

Besides the plastic look

Doesn't look plastic to me. Looks wet - due to rain.

The more I watch of Akuma, the more awkward and out of place he looks.

The hair should be wet too......but they're not.

Dude feels weird. Real weird
Expected him to be out of place and all that but add movement on top and it gets extra weird

That hair doesn't follow natures law

Will be new main regardless of 10 move movelist :p

lol
Chances are he will be garbage or great since he is an outsider with weird tools. Can't see him being balanced overall. Well, by the time we actually get the game they would have fized everything
