Guys, if any old stages were gonna be remade in T7, which would be nice candidates? Pick 2.

These are my two picks:
T4 Building:
tekken4-stage3.jpg

  • I'm aware there's a new stage (Mishima Building) that resembles this somewhat.
  • I adore the ambient and subtle tone of the score as two fighters duel on a rooftop at night. Traits that aren't conveyed in the Twilight Conflict stage in T7.
  • The helicopters in the background added an extra layer of realism into the game, they were essentially "broadcasters" for the King of iron Fist Tournament 4. Great attention to detail there.
  • Authentic Sky is my favourite Tekken OST (and possibly favourite VGA OST) of all time. I'd love a final round remix with intense drums. Something on the lines of this fanmade remix.

T4 Mall:
mall.jpg

  • Mostly because we haven't gotten a really memorable indoor modern stage as of late.
  • This stage gave a slight urban and street vibe to the tournament but in a modern context.
  • Fighters fighting in a mall of all places, and it's amazing.
  • Uninhabited is also an amazing soundtrack.

If Namco wanted to be extra zealous and combine both of these two stages, I wouldn't mind. The glass ceiling could act as a floor break into the Mall stage.

Edit: Of course, fix the uneven terrain.

Mine:

PS2 hardware didn't give justice to the whole idea of this stage. I think in T7 it would look insane. Imagine ultra detailed pirate ship, cave and sea and hundreds of gold coins being scattered between fighter's feet all with physics implemented. Soo good.
I'd like to see first snow effect/prints on the T7 snowy stage before asking for that with multiple physics-based object.

I got enough bling bling with the Snoop Dog stage in Tag 2.

I would love a jungle stage and the beach stage from Tekken 4. Wouldn't mind the Kazuya mirror stage from T2 either.

Man T4's mall stage is just master-class.

Yeah, love it as well. Everything looks great.

GGs Sasuke. You didn't respect your red life today. Tag out even if you get hurt just a little, it's worth it in the long run. One character buys time and health for another.

After we played I went to ranked though I knew I shouldn't because my head started to hurt. But addiction is addiction, so I demoted myself like 6 times and I didn't even care because head was pounding. Lol, what am I doing. Now gotta get everything back tomorrow. This is like gambling.

Fresh Bryan T7 short combo vid from Travis Touchdown. Noice!

Only 12 more days until FR hits arcades! Woot!

Wonder if some players will be like: "Meh, I preferred old version." Because their character got nerfed or other one "unfairly" buffed, lol.

I sense high levels Akumer rage incoming.

Highly unlikely. Namco almost always nails it with the R update. I think the only character in a R revision that got unjustly nerfed to bottom tier was Anna from 6.0 to BR.

"Give me pleasure...mmm..." Probably wouldn't fly now. Someone bound to be offended. What times we live in, yeesh.

Stage itself is great, but the music gives it awesome vibe.

It's "I'll give you pleasure" and there is waaaaaay worse shit on the radio everyday than that so I really don't think it's an issue.

Everything works with Poolside. It has an awesome vibe as you put it.

Super late to the party on this, but just saw the intro to Tekken Tag 2 and was surprised they used the music (well, remixed) from the first game. And it supports custom freaking soundtracks! That's awesome. Very disappointed in myself for not buying that game.

Yes, TTT2 had the Fontana di Trevi, but I'd love a new borderless Venice stage. San Marco Plaza during Carnival would be awesowe!

Can't think of another type of environment that wasn't already covered in the last two games

We are equally disappointed in you. ;)

Welcome! The more Tekken Gaffers the better. By the time T7 comes out there will be dozens of us. Dozens!

That console intro with Jinpachi wanting to release his awesome power so the cab driver takes him to a red district is so whack. Can't believe they bothered to render all that just for this joke.

I like the arcade one where Miguel is fighting Heihachi.

Yeah the remix is pretty cool.

Namco: "Black people sighted, abort"

Their priority is to include all members of the Mishima family. Grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their alter egos.

But being honest I rather have fully fleshed out Black character and not some half assed attempt just to say: "Here internet, Black dude. We're not racist, now fuck off."

So I'll give them more time to do this right. And by that I mean gimme Armor King and Raven for console release, lol.

I love Tekken TUNES on Tag 2. Hope it returns for T7.

I used it to replace just about every single stage music with either it's original equivalent or something nostalgic from T1-T6.

Sorry Dubstep, but you can take a hike. Drum and Bass I love, but that wub wub shit gives me migraines.

All jokes aside what was it that they said about black character again?
Hmm, it's been awhile.

Did you hear Michael Murray's responses to the questions:

About Tekken Ball in Tekken 7
About cross play

His answers were very "I'm not touching this".

For Tekken Ball being in Tekken 7 he said that they were concerned about critics pointing out that Tekken "hasn't changed" because it has an old mode in it.

Then he said that they were concerned about cross play because PC players can cheat and he doesn't want that to be brought in with console players.

About black characters, he said something like, nowadays there's a lot of negativity concerning who is black and who isn't. Being black is within a broad spectrum, nowadays it's hard to tell who's black and who isn't and we don't want to offend the black community by making a black character who isn't black enough or is too black.

I'm paraphrasing but that's what he said.

EDIT: I think Harada said that he didn't know enough about African Americans to not end up making a stereotypical character

That's a shame. I'd like to see more diversity in FG's.

Zafina should have been that South Asian. Her Martial Arts is heavily influenced by Kalaripayattu that originates from the southern region of India. They ended up making her North African.

The Mishima 1, 1, 2 string is the most satisfying punish in Tekken.

Don't know how many frames any move is in Tekken? You can test it out by just trying 1, 1.

If the first two hits land, you know you can 1, 1, 2 that shit.

1, 1, 2 all day. 1, 1, 2 everything

Rank the Tekkens in your opinion. Fun factor, how long you played each one, whatever.

  1. Tekken Tag 2 -- Most rounded out Tekken to date IMO. A masterpiece.
  2. Tekken Tag 1 -- Unbalanced as all hell, but it allowed me to play various "dream teams" for the first time. The beginning of the Golden Age of Tekken IMO, and the launch of my "tournament fever".
  3. Tekken 4 -- Love/Hated this one. Loved the new stages and music, hated the just frame BS and changes to Yoshi. End of the Golden Age.
  4. Tekken 3 -- Yoshi grew by leaps and bounds from previous game, loved the addition of 3D movement.
  5. Tekken 2 -- My first Tekken to play seriously (in the arcades no less). Fell in love with Yoshi and King. Hated Devil and Angel for the laser crap.
  6. Tekken 5 and 6 -- The Dark Ages of Tekken. This is when I fell into the pit of MMOs, spent a solid 8 years here. Hated each game more than the last. Yoshi also seemed to go back to his "awkward years" here, and didn't feel complete until TTT2.
  7. Tekken 1 -- Didn't play. Shit looked like cube fighter 2000 or something, just like other first-gen 3d fighters. Passed.

I'm most comfortable with Tekken 6's gameplay. For me it plays rock solid, that's really all I can say about that.

Tekken 5 DR is another one of those games but I would say it has the edge on Tekken 6 just because every single stage in the game is outstanding.

Even though I put Tekken 6 last on my list it's still an incredible game. I just happened to rank it that way in reference to the rest of the series. Tekken 6 was the title which made the universal change to generic 10 frame jabs along with making every character a highly competent juggler (i.e. giving Jack b+3,2,2). So much of the individuality of the characters in Tekken were lost with these 2 changes specifically. It wasn't enough for your character to be a specialist in power hitter or a fast jabber, you NEEDED to have multi-hitting juggles that did a minimum amount of wall carry/damage. That level of homogenization was not a direction that jived with me at all.

Also, Lars and Alisa being the central main characters of a Tekken game did not sit well with me either.

But the biggest downer of Tekken 6 was unquestionably the revelation of the netcode being what it was. I actually wasn't gaming between 2006 and 2009 and didn't own any consoles in that time frame. It was upon the release of Tekken 6 did I go and buy a PS3 and the special edition of Tekken 6 that came with that (janky) wireless hori stick. I felt so down when the netcode was as bad as it was.

Dope lists. No problem with TTT2 personally. The game's solid. I just spent the least time with it given when it released, what I had going on in life and especially compared to previous Tekken games. I put T6 above it because I was so hyped off of T5DRO I was all in. Then you factor in all the amount of time I spent in Scenario Campaign (which was ridiculous). I got a new TV purely for T6.

T2 and T3 though? Those were the GOAT titles to me. I can remember playing that PS2 demo disc that had the T2 demo. I was blown away by it. Previously I was playing MK1 and SF2T on SNES so man, what a crazy leap that was. T3 was just even more amazing.

T4, didn't spend much time with but T5/T5DR/DRO? Probably my most played Tekkens of all.
