TBH with you, those guys are just pissed that us Americans won't reach the level of Koreans soon enough. Which is kinda funny since on DR days when we can hold ourselves, they are basically saying to noobs to suck it up... Now all of the sudden they don't man up this time...

(There is no excuse... the game teaches you to have a different mindset and skillset now compared to the past games. People like runitblack who is described by rip to "good at learning things on the fly" says basically the skill needed for this game).

Which is another set of rants I will write someday, I gotta wait until the next AtP Live when Rickstah and the others say about things.

Yeah, the complaining does need to stop, though.

TTT2 is not only probably the most balanced Tekken yet, it's also one of the best balanced fighting games in general. People need to appreciate that.

Korean arcade players had to deal with Hwoarang unblockable during TA's and I don't think we saw nearly as much complaining.

I was playing Tekken DR a few days ago at an offline gather.

Wow was that game simple.
I didn't have fun
I got this idea on CafeID stream chat... Advertise the next Tekken like Dark Souls...

TEKKEN X STREET FIGHTER: YOU WILL DIE EDITION

That will sell good...

How so? Just curious.

I enjoy 6, 5, and 4 still.

Only 1 Movelist, and that movelist was just paltry. Especially coming from a Julia player. Julia got so much in T6, and then got a ton of stuff again in TTT2.

And then I played Devil Jin... good GOD is this character broken. Hell sweep that launches, WS+1,2 that juggled, EWGF being as strong as ever, Lazer throw with awesome oki.

And yeah, the damage in this game is ABSURD! The health bar is soooo small haha.

I just had one of the best weekends ever entertainment wise!

1. I finished Bioshock Infinite.

The gameplay was overall OK but I never liked FPS's. BUT this game has one of the best plot twists I've ever experienced in any form of entertainment whether it be novels, movies, or games. I didn't understand the ending at first, but once I started reading about it, WOW. That was incredible and I tip my hat to you Ken Levine.

2. I watched The Raid: Redemption (finally)

I have not been wowed by a movie in FOREVER! I've only been this floored by a movie from what I can remember is when Ong Bak was first released. I loved this movie so much I bought the blu-ray right after. And now I am donning one of the bad ass characters from the film as my avatar. I hope Harada took notes! Silat fighter for Tekken 7!

3. I played some offline TTT2

Greatest piece of software of all time and I loved every second of it! I enjoyed it so much here is another round of avatars I did for fun from random art google sends my way :p

Also, looks like the prototype for Xiaoyu's Kotobukiya figure model is out:

Devil Jin's laser throw gave him a free d/b2 in DR. Don't forget the part where he had insanely good oki off of pretty much all of his juggles with the d/f1,2 dash cancel.

DR was a pretty boring game, but the scene was the strongest at the time off of the high of 5.0 and lack of online.

And yes, it was full of bullshit.

Anyway, I've said my piece on my issues with this game. Not gonna talk circles and repeat myself over and over again. They need to fix risk/reward. The thing that really puts the risk/reward out of whack is the crush system. They have constantly been introducing more and more crush/evasive/mid ducking moves with every iteration since 5.0. They need to fix this, but that's on them. it's not my job to tell them HOW, but it is the responsibility of the fans that want the change to bring it to their attention. If that means completely reworking the crush system (which IMO is the way that they probably SHOULD go), then I'm all for it.

That summarizes what I was getting at, and that's a wrap with that.

On another note, I ran through a few stuff with Marduk and am ready to give this stream thing a shot. How do you peeps feel about tomorrow night?

That movie isn't on Netflix. :(

Tekken Tag 2 and Tekken 6 are tied with SSBB and SSBM for best offline local multiplayer games.

Never have had so much fun and investment in any other franchises.

On another note, I ran through a few stuff with Marduk and am ready to give this stream thing a shot. How do you peeps feel about tomorrow night?

I get off work at 8 (maybe 9) p.m. EST tomorrow. Make sure it's after that plz.

Looking forward to it.

I'll probably start up the stream before that, but wait for you to get on before I actually start talking about this stuff, so no worries. I got ya brotha man.

What's your twitch channel. Once you're done I'll definitely post it on ATP :)

http://www.twitch.tv/manny_biggz/old

Rolling with a low video quality standard definition set up atm because I'm using a old Dazzle card I got a few years back. So the character models take up like 1/3 of the screen.

Along with the shoddy quality, this is my first attempt at something like this, so we'll see how it goes. If it does end up good enough to help people out, then I most def would appreciate the shout out on ATP!

Soooooo. To clarify exactly what I'm going to do here... I'm going to stream a rundown of Marduk's movelist. Gonna share everything I remember about them. The frame data that I'm shaky on, I will pull from inatekken's wiki, but I might do some live testing during the stream to verify the move frames that look questionable on it. The purpose of this for other people is to help give a start on how to play as, or fight against Marduk. Nothing SUPER high level going on here.

The purpose of this for myself is to have this stuff all down in one place. I tend to forget/remember stuff randomly, so having a vid that has all my info together is a great help. What I hope to also get out of it is for other people that might know some stuff that I miss to speak up about it. That way I can make a future video with possible corrections or additions.

Assuming things go right, it's a win/win for everybody.

Remember when Hei's TP was a launcher? Lol. Though a lot characters were pretty cheap in DR. I think the low life is worst thing about the game honestly.

I remember when Hei's 10f punisher was 2,2~1+2 into f,f+2 in 5.0. He got like 60 damage for it which translates to something like 80 damage in Tag 2. For his 10 frame punisher! Yeah... 5.0 and DR were pretty dumb.

@AAK were you ever planning to pick up Leo seriously?

Haha, not really. There was a time where I felt I coudn't win any match against a Leo player and it came to a point where I felt I had to thoroughly learn the character to actually fight her. I had enough fun making a Zafina/Leo team to play quite a few matches with them. I got to green rank online with her solely because of how devastating she can be to anyone that doesn't respect the frames on her stances.

Alright. Gave the stream a little test run. Got a few BSODs, but I think I resolved the issue. That and someone helped me get my mic working. I'll probably throw it back up a little after 8.

Holy jeez. I hope they aren't expecting some Mr. Naps level stuff lol. I don't mind waiting it out a bit for you to get on either. I just gotta remember to keep my voice low because some people will be sleeping by then.

That's ridiculous, she's basically just wearing a shirt.

I'm equally creeped out by the pink rash on her armpit.

If it is even half of the level of stuff you showed me pre Toryuken, it will be really worth it :) And that stuff was Mr. Naps levels of depth. Only difference was the volume haha. But the more the merrier, at least that way it can be even more interactive with people asking questions or giving their own insight in the chat. Don't bother waiting for me, this is for the community. :)

I don't watch or spectate a lot but that was awesome stuff from Manny. I'm completely reevaluating how I play this game now and am looking to get into learning more frames. So much punishable stuff I don't even think to punish.

My impatient, offensive play really screws me over a lot of times.

OH man, Thanks a million to Manny for the stream. That was amazing. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Now to watch Sayah vs OFDP:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKqpz9rrzUY

I had the music turned off from before and the first two matches are missing b/c recording wasn't setup like I thought it was.

But man, those Mokujin fights, hahahahaha.

Oh hey Tekken Strike is on Eventhubs. A bit hard to find though I'll admit.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/...r-king-casino-early-theme-tekken-strike-ep-1/

:lol

Icege shaming eventhubs is good, as the Tekken community finally realize that other games become just second fiddle when we force ourselves in "the FGC".

TBH I wish we could just separate ourselves to the FGC... We will never shine and show our uniqueness when we are trying to fit in...

EDIT reading a comment in the tekken strike vid made me realize how influential aris and co was to the community. They set the tone for what the newbs believe, and for them to whine and moan like that about the game is really hurting the community more...

LOL, gotta love that comment. A lot of fighting game fans in America are just indifferent towards the franchise, or worse, some have a deep hatred for it.

Just be happy Tekken is where it is. Not every fighter gets to have its own TV shows, its own museum and be featured at MLG.

Without the FGC where would the Tekken community go? how many Tekken centric tournaments are there after Final Round? MLG is dead, Strongstyle is dead, Namco's Nationals have been long dead. (EDIT: I forgot about Tennessee Kumite)

Especially the East Coast FGC really tried to appeal to the Tekken community. Spooky/Henry Cen gave Tekken a spot at Next level's battle circuit but nobody showed up. ECT was offering a free trip for the winner of Tekken to The Fall Classic but only 30 something people showed up. They didn't do this for any other game. It's the Tekken communty's own fault they're treated like this. No one can travel, even for locals.

The biggest culprits are the west coast. California has SO many players I see post on TZ.com and people online. They never show up and hence Tekken gets the treatment is gets during SCR and NCR. I mean even Bronson didn't go to NCR and he lives there.

Don't blame others, blame ourselves.

EDIT2: I just wanna say that this isn't necessarily a negative. If Tekken players don't want to travel or support their scene, that's their choice and I have to respect it. Life is hard and if that is their priority that is a commendable choice. But then the Tekken community has no right to complain about how they are treated when all the Capcom games players do sacrifice life for their game. Because of how much they collectively sacrifice for the sake of their scene they get favorited by Eventhubs/SRK/majors/etc.

I can't blame bronson if he somehow hates going to some tourneys, dude's retired... Nobody's gonna pay for entrance fee if you always play the game locally and you're going to play the same people you play with... TBH you won't be able to blame people to not come on tourneys... Most have problems financially and with this struggling economy, we gotta prioritize... The problem too that there are just too many tourneys make the llayers spread out. Some can only attend 1 tourney a year at most. If we only got FR as the only tekken tourney, we will see numbers... It is explained by bloodhawk there why it isn't feasible to regularly go to NLBC...

What Im saying is those people still love the game but their time has passed... What they can only do is to teach and help people around them on playing the game... Its not up to them now... its up to us...

PS Cddt is planning to organize a tekken only tourney with the goal of making it much more accessible to people...

Yeah like I said above, Life is hard. But life isn't hard only for Tekken players. It's hard for SF players, BB players, SFxT players, KOF players, etc., etc. If the SF players are the only ones willing to sacrifice life for the sake of their game, they deserve the recognition from all the mainstream sites and the majors are going to cater to them too.

No community is entitled, they have to earn it.

As I edited it out... people are making ways... Its notabout "sacrifice", you need to look at the model on how tourneys work and see why they aren't feasible... Look, why would I go to Atlanta for all of places? I'd rather go to Vegas and even if I lose, I can go to a casino or walk around taking pics at Vegas and it wont be a totally wasted trip/vacation. Now you see why EVO strives. Not everybody going there wants to compete, some just want to have a good time playing with people with similar hobbies... an effective tourney needs to be studied and planned, location is important, time is important, advertisment is important, as well as running the tourney and not giving the players an awful time that they wont want to come back again... and we lack that generally...

eeeeeeeeeh. It's nice to support your game in that way but life should always come first. It's entirely possible to work, go to school and attend tourney's located in close proximity to you. But when people start making a living out of it, I don't really know what to say about that.

Anyway, Final Round and Master Cup had huge turnouts. Tekken is alive in the areas that it's expected to be alive. As far as I know, sites like SRK have always catered to 2D fighters even back when Tekken was the predominant player in the arena. And EVO and a lot of these road to EVO events are also largely focused on 2D fighters. EVO has always been about 2D fighters actually. The fact that TTT2 is the only 3D fighter out of the 10 or so games at EVO 2013 says something. Especially when we've had SCV, VF5FS, DoA5 and TTT2 all release just last year (2012 was practically THE year of 3D fighters). And also when SCV had a higher turnout than Mortal Kombat at EVO 2012 but still got ditched. So yeah, I wouldn't exactly say support from these sites and some of these majors is exactly based on turnout.

Capcom is pouring in a lot of money at these events too. People need incentive to go. Don't think Tekken players have a lot of incentive to go to these majors with lower prize money for their game. Since, let's face the truth, a lot of people are just going to tourney's for the money and probably not out of concern for supporting their respective community (I could be wrong on this). I don't know.

Fine, screw majors. Let's just talk about local competition. Take a look at the regional matchmaker place on SRK for 2D games, and then look at TZ.com or even KOR's facebook academy.

I don't watch movies. I don't have a television. I don't eat outside. I buy cheap deoderant/shampoo/soap. I have no furniture. I sleep on the floor. I don't spend any money on fashion and only buy clothes when my previous ones are torn. I share a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 men sleeping in the living room to save on rent/food. I choose this to fund my Tekken hobby from my current income and travel when I can and am capable. Sure, I'm a minority so I'll admit that.

Forget people who travel, let's just look at people who at least try to make a local scene without sacrificing. I know 5 people who actually play Tekken in my city. Yet only 2 of us are willing to meet to play. No matter how much I call or persuade these other guys they're not interested. I travel to Toronto for a bunch of MAJORS, and I knew at least 12 people that live in the area that didn't bother showing up. I went to Montreal for a monthly tournament, again a lot of the people that play the game didn't show up. The best player in Canada (PSN: TheInsaneBoss) is in Montreal and he stopped going to locals. I play (amazing) people online that have unprecedented knowledge like jinandkazama81 who I found out lived in Montreal and they will refuse to show up. There isn't any drive.

Tekken still thrives in Korea/Japan but that's not what your original post was about. A lot of people complain about how Tekken is treated in eventhubs but all these people are doing is barking. You make a statement with actions. You start showing up to things that are at least somewhat convenient to you. If you can't make time for those, then the case is closed. Tekken going to continue to fall further and further into the same circle of relevance games like VF/Skullgirls.

Again, I've reached a point where I don't care. I'll keep playing and travelling because I have fun. But I'm not going to delude myself by expecting Tekken to get the same treatment Capcom players get because the community I'm a part of don't have the same drive as them.

Like Sayah said, be happy with what Tekken has for now and stop feeling persecuted when Tekken isn't getting the same popularity as the Capcom games.
