Tekken Tag Tournament 2 |OT| Awaiting the "Final Battle"

Sigh I guess it's time to bring back Heihachi over Rugal. New avatar for the rest of the summer!

Also 2 things have made me think about some things. First thing, is the outfits:

Both Heihachi and Kazuya have the exact same outfit they've been running since Tekken 5.0 Intro:

Second thing is this:

I'll start with this. The term "Final Battle" to me sounds more like "One last time with old Tekken system". I think that Namco wants to do one last hurrah with the current Tekken system before eventually doing a reboot. What implications do I think might this bring? this is where the first image of Heihachi and Kazuya comes in. Since their outfits are the same, I believe they're still going to recycle the core models and the overall core system for Tekken 7. I think this is going to be the final culmination of the system that Tekken 5 introduced. Just how Tekken 6 was the increment after that, and Tekken Tag 2 was the increment after that, Tekken 7 will be the final increment before the T4-style reboot. On that note, I'm guessing it'll have some kind of bound, because that was the big addition to the T5 system that balanced the damage output for the entire cast. There will still be the staple back dash cancelling, and with that I'm sure the crush system will still be in place to prevent people from just BDCing forever and just d+1'ing when anyone gets close.

I'm also very likely to be completely wrong and it's just a side effect of the insanity pouring over me with the lack of information :S

The majority of Project Soul has probably been reabsorbed into the Tekken team like they were after SC4. I guess a few of them are still hanging around churning out dolly dressup updates and dumbing down the movelists for Lost Swords.
:(

During Tekken Casino I asked Harada when he was looking at the chat about what Hoshino is up to. His reply was, "I have no idea what Hoshino is doing, he plays too much Pokemon" or something like that. I can't find the time stamp but it's there.

Tekken Popularity poll going on.

Time for some rigged voting? I'll vote for people's favourites if you all vote for Kunimitsu in her match-up. :p

Kuni doesn't need any help. She's ranked #6 currently. I doubt she'll get cut.

Asuka and Jun ranked #1 and #2 respectively. I don't want to live on this planet etc.

There is just soooo much to talk about that I don't think they even need a guest. And besides, Bronson is bound to be a guest soon to talk about the Korean guests for Strong Style.

Honestly we will never know till a gameplay vid comes out. Look, that T6 reveal isn't totally related to what T6 came out. This Kasumi thing might now even exist later on...

Never before have I realized that what makes me like Tekken currently is so foreign from what everyone else likes about it.

Honestly, I am fully torn about this, because long time ago, I am one of those people. I hated juggles and thought it was cheap. I loved the story spects and the martial arts represented legit by each chars. That was that until my first college years I went to a nearby mall and somebody taught me the ropes. I came to love the game and reinforced more the martial arts philosophies still intact yet I see the game design.

And then the more I look around and see is the tekken fanbase is do indeed split between these casual players and competitive players. Both sides do have a different vision of what tekken is, and rarely do people have these overlaps, and the most notable player I know of that fits the overlap was Kane, and people think he's a weeb lol.

What sucks though is so far, there is no way of reaching a middle ground or even a bridge to access for both. Both sides want these and that, that we reach a point where if we are to delete characters or change the mechanics, or reduce move lists, big chunks of people will go away, yet the resulting game will not satisfy either anyway. Look, people at TZ want Anna and Kuni gone. Some want lars and bob gone. Somewhere in FGW want Armor King gone. Some want to reduce movesets, and seeing that popularity poll, Lei could be replaced. I could even see animals get cut, along with dragunov, raven and zafina, as awesome as their design was, they are totally dispensable and they dont help draw the tekken 3 nostalgic people. As much as we say their opinions are ignorant, who are we to judge? Cause honestly we have no right to cut chars if we aren't willing to cut ours.

This is why I personally want to give these TTT2 roster just one more chance. I really do think the tekken team did the right thing by trying to please everybody, and just unfortunate to have circumtances go in their way. Just give the same roster, polish the moves, and add expansive and new customs, tutorials and story mode and it would be fine. 1v1 will take care of the difficulty issue, and as long as we are nice enough to welcome casuals yet tough on them so they will improve, and it will be nice.

So, whilst I'm fairly decent with Kunimitsu in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, I've not really settled on a solid secondary character to tag with. At the moment, I gravitate towards Jun as she's fairly easy to pull off strings of individual hits and perform knockdowns with, but I never tend to pull off many of her special moves as I concentrate on trying to keep a flow going. However, that means if I get interrupted, I've got very little to counter back with in order to set up a new chain.

I do prefer the the more 'fluid' characters as opposed to large heavy-hitters like the Jacks, Ogres and Kuma/Panda, which seems to lead me more towards characters like Alisa and Zafina (Never been able to get the hang of floor-based characters like Lei or Eddy).

Are there any recommended match-videos to be watching from certain players or tutorial videos that give an accessible look at playing well with any of the following characters for players that lean more on the casual side? Or indeed, any personal tips!

-Alisa
-Zafina
-Jun
-Xiaoyu
-Anna

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

I think TTT2 was the last time under the old system. I think BDC will still be there, but normal movement will be much stronger where players can get by for much longer without needing to know it. Invincible moves will probably be there in some manner. I personally like bound, but they need to add some additional restrictions to it so it so it's not a staple of so many combos.

*sigh* Thanks for the attempt, lol.

Thanks for the speedy replies, looks like I've got my lunchtime video-watch schedule sorted for the next couple of weeks!

I also play on PS3 add me.
ariesboy_88 I agree with Mike that 36 is a pretty decent number.

Not too large not too small in fact it's pretty good.
How would you guys take it after Tekken 7 they start over fresh with a new cast?.
Maybe an oldie here or there but an all new start?.

Thanks for the rounds Via, seems like we're a fairly even match a lot of the time. Though you can probably see where I'm lacking in finesse in places and not being able to take advantage of certain situations!

Same here, I still practice a lot to improve. Great matches you were good.

I really think of adding Leo to my team and pairing her up with Jin. She seems like such a fun character.

I've been messing around with her for a little while but I haven't felt comfortable enough to play her in matches yet. I need to get the stance transitions and punishes down.
