Tekken Tag Tournament 2 |OT| Awaiting the "Final Battle"

Yeah, it really doesn't look so bad. Maybe it's because of her turning back animation. It also gives a bit of push-back, I think, so a standard df2 could be a bit too short ranged. Stuff like Hwoarang's b3 should be good enough to launch her, though. I have to try it out myself^^

Just checked youtube punishment guide.

Kaz can punish rds with b+4,1 and df+1,2. Hmm interesting. Either it's not included or Kazuya can't punish Ling with electrics other then crushing highs? Lot's of ws2 from ducking highs though. Dunno.

Don't forget that you can still block Ling's back turned 4 after she hits you with CH f,f3 by holding forward. Yes, that's right, you will block it even though you're holding forward.

All this Tekken 7 talk has got me thinking...I looked at the character roster and I'm going to assume there will be 28 characters returning for T7 with around 4 being new.... these are my guesses of who's getting cut:

i5lHZRLcEgk3s.png

Anna must be there. :(

Gravity Falls bhai. It's soooo good. Amazing amount of effort and thought went into each episode. Couple annoying background characters (why did they have to make the gay cops retarded?) but it's definitely one of the most entertaining things I've seen in a long while.
Just watched the first episode. Pretty good but I imagine it will get better.

If they try to lock existing characters behind paid DLC, then I will not support T7 other than maybe buying it used.

Locking existing characters behind paid DLC would be the dumbest thing ever. I have doubts they would do that.

Criteria based on who's important in the story and based on who Harada will for sure not exclude *cough*Feng*cough*. Left some controversial eliminations in there but I guess it has to be done at this point in the series' life cycle unfortunately :(

Happy Birthday to Famicom as well! I'll be joining you guys as well in about over a month Lol.

Why would Harada for sure not exclude Feng? I thought Ganryu was his favourite, but you've crossed him out anyway.

And I agree with Sayah, Anna can't go :(

From my bad memory I remember Harada picking Feng when he played against fans.

He's favorite in VF is Lau, so he likes kung fu dudes. (Easy to play...Shhhh!).

Harada basically confirmed that T7 will have DLC, he said Namco won't have it any other way during the EVO Tekken stream. It could be a massive DLC like a "Super" version of T7 with the 4 extra characters. But I'm personally OK with old characters being behind DLC walls as long as they have some good effort put behind them. Rain and Kenishi from MK9 are two old characters blocked by DLC but they are 2 of my favorite characters to play in that game.

Why would Harada for sure not exclude Feng? I thought Ganryu was his favourite, but you've crossed him out anyway.

And I agree with Sayah, Anna can't go :(

Well, Ganryu was in Wang's ending... I'm pretty sure anyone that was in Wang's ending is getting cut from the roster haha. And yeah, I do remember Harada telling people during Tekken Casino that his 2 favorite characters are Heihachi and Feng. I'm convinced Feng is one of his favorites as well because of how f+3,4 is now only -12 in Tekken revolution.... there's NO reason for that kind of move to have such frames other than character favoritism! :p

Just watched the first episode. Pretty good but I imagine it will get better.

They have one episode that is a direct homage to 2D fighting games. It was splendid.

As for Anna... if King and Hwoarang's complimentary characters A.King and Baek go, I suspect they'll do the same to Nina's complimentary :(

Sayah

Member
Whhaaaat, f+3,4 at -12 in Tekken Revolution? Dayum.

And yeah, I will be really upset if Anna's left out in Tekken 7. She's definitely one of the likely characters to be excluded. But I also remain optimistic because:

1. She's a veteran character that has appeared in all games outside of Tekken 4. Sorry Michelle.
2. If they are bringing the Mishima storyline to an end, I imagine they are doing the same with the Nina/Anna arc.
3. Anna's role in G corp with Kazuya in Tekken 6 events.

This all makes her a vital character to have. Other character's story arcs aren't as relevant or important for a "finale." Like who cares about Ganryu's crush on Julia?

I don't have a problem with customization but I have always wondered, what the appeal was for certain items, like butterfly wings, or a halo, or a aura that didn't match, is it because they actually look good on the character or is it because they look funny?

What I think they should do for Tekken 7 is, basically create a personalized closet for each character, what does Steve wear when he goes to a bar? What does King wear when he's sparring, what does Lei wear when he goes undercover in public?

Like, customization, but tailored to only the type of the clothing this character would wear, so, for example Jin could have 8 different custom shirts, but those shirts are only something he would wear.

And people will still color that shit pink and green. Or just pick the ugliest combination of things they give you. Or draw dicks on it. People gonna people man. I've made ugly customs for fun, but then I never use them.

Wow, with this low risk, the move becomes pretty OP...

I feel awful, so awful. Still played Tekken.

Anyway tested rds 4. You can punish with electrics but it's insanely hard. It's worse then lightning screw. You can even punish with regular godfist. The problem is this is like just frame timing. It's like when character puts his hand in guard it's already too late for electric. You gotta time it perfectly. Crazy. Other punishes work just by mashing.

ff+3,4 is the hardest version to punish it has more push block. Funny thing is Jin d+3+4 (hopkick too)will reach it because of slight step jin takes but Devil Jin's d+3+4 won't reach ff+3,4. That punishes all other versions of rds 4 because Ling is closer.

I hate this... seriously, I play like shit when I'm ranking. I didn't even play Hwo/Steve, I just played Jin/Violet and still kept losing against Grand Masters! I can't block lows on reaction, I can't punish shit and why are Fighters the worst 10-string spammers on earth?
I got Jin to Grand Master and Violet to 3rd Dan. I actually aimed for Marauder, and for Hwo/Steve Berserker.
It's extremely frustrating, playing the game so intensely for half a year and still fucking up the simplest things when stressed :(

I know how it feels. I got rank up and demoted more times then I can't count. Daily basis.
Today I got promotion match with Jin to Fighter, lost and ruined all other matches. I'm sure next match will be demotion.

Once I demoted Kazuya from Fighter to Disciple, that was fun losing 25 matches in a row, but that's how cookie crumbles. Then comes a day when you are in Matrix mode and get 10 win streaks like it's nothing.

Sasuke, listen. You are training for tournament. Play ranked for experience without worrying about rank. Just take for granted that you'll get demoted. The more "I don't care" attitude you'll have the less panic mode bullshit comes into play. Don't worry, you'll get back to speed and hate messages will flow.

Player matches besides those among Gaffers don't carry much weight. Not in EU PSN and not from my experience. On Player there is this thing when someone just stops playing because he lost 2 rounds and just doesn't care anymore. Or people are just screwing around testing shit.
On Ranked there are these vicious beasts, sadists, masochists and literally insane persons that bite their fingers off each lost round, relying on every dirty trick in the book.
It's a jungle of hyperactive hormones, profanity, broken dreams and mockery.
Best place to train Tekken.

Lol damn. Grayfoxs description of ranked.

But yeah. Sasuke. As Grayfox said, don't worry about demotions. I've been demoted multiple times. There are just days when you're not playing your best.

If you start stressing with this game, you are just shaving days off of your life. I've learned to not care. Even when I get demoted like 5 ranks down. Its easy to get frustrated but keep a cool head and a nonchalant attitude and you'll be fine.

Or just watch an Aris rage video and be like "whatever whatever man."

I wanna love ya
I want you! (you you)
And even though I can't forgive you
I really want to
I want you! (you you)

Tell me, tell me Ranked
Why can't you leave me?
Cause even though I shouldn't want it
I gotta have it
I want you! (you you)

And realize that I've got

I guess I should just play with Hwo/Steve. I thought I'd play with Jin/Violet because I don't care about their rank, but I actually get extremely frustrated in a lot of situations. I played a Marauder who was really bad, won 2 rounds against him and in the last round, right before losing, he quits and sends me a message "no win ;)"...
It's really not that much about losing alone, it's more about how I lose. I don't care about losing against someone who's better than me. I can lose against Doomshine 10 times in a row and still think I'm the shit, but when I lose because I want to tag crash, and my character tech rolls and gets caught in a juggle, I lose my mind.

Whenever I play a higher ranked player in player matches, I always assume he doesn't play serious. Even if I win, I still think he "lets me win".

But yeah. Sasuke. As Grayfox said, don't worry about demotions. I've been demoted multiple times. There are just days when you're not playing your best.

I guess you're right. But staying in the green ranks where all the spammers and 10-string Fighters are is annoying :(
I love Aris' hate streams^^

EDIT: @GrayFoxPL: You're killing me xD

But yeah when you realize how many players got their ranks by spamming 10 strings because no one will learn all 150 variations then all you can do is smirk, these guys are nothing important, but I can only figure tournament scene has all kind of players.
When at Evo I saw how many players just fired up 10 string for an easy win I facepalmed in embarrassment.

It's really funny though, that 10th Dan players are the ones who abuse 10-strings the most, from my personal experience that is :p
Seeing players play like this in tournaments makes me feel much better about my own playstyle.

Ahh gotta love ranked. I like to use lows so people call me a spammer. Because most people don't even try to block those on low level fighting. I fought a couple of green ranks at least they learn to block low so i start doing less lows.

This guy was a nice guy but i loved how he called me out on my spamming (I like to poke) while he was using kazuyas u/f 4,4,4,4 ALL the time.

This guy i am sorry about and can understand i believed i disconnected on him while he was up a round up 2-1 but man dunno what it is but when i play tekken i get a lot of disconnects for some reason. While my ps3 and wiiu are next to eachother never had a disconnect with my wiiu although that is wired to my router. Maybe i should look into it and buy another cable. but man you don't have to go german swearing on me (love how there are a lot of german swear words with ass in it).

Wait... by noob characters, did he actually include Xiaoyu? Hope he's joking, playing that girl is hard as fuck :p

About those lows, you just have to hide them better, so your opponent doesn't expect them. Like Xiaoyu's ss3 or ss4. Xiaoyu has a lot of pokes and you have to rely on heavy mix ups. Her lows are very slow though, so you can't just throw them into your opponent's face. Go into hypnotist stance and cancel it into ss3, many people fall for that. Or poke a lot and force your opponent to mash buttons, then ss4. It launches on counterhit. If you don't know any juggles, I can show you a few. Do you have a headset?

German swear words are weird, especially those with "ass" in them^^

GGs to Sasuke_91! I'm honestly amazed by the netcode.

GGs av2k. Yeah, I'm amazed, too! The lag was definitely noticable, but taking into account how far away we live from each other, that's a pretty damn solid connection.

The way you play is pretty scary. I dropped a lot of combos because of the lag and used some moves more often than I had planned to (Hwo's d4,4 for example) or tried a tag assault in unnecessary situations, but it wouldn't have looked any better on a 5 bar connection.
That execution was pretty much perfect, and I liked the way you converted every launch into a max damage combo. Like how you dashed under the floating character to position yourself in front of the wall and get your extra wall damage. Even if you caught me mid-air, you would still get your damage out of any position.
Mishimas are extremely frightening, especially with lag. And wavedash makes me EXTREMELY nervous, especially in front of a wall. Didn't think wavedash was such a mindfuck. I didn't even bother trying to grab you, I thought you'd just dash under it and launch me. I only managed to grab you once, but your throw break was too good, even with the lag. Another thing is that you wouldn't hesitate using lows. There's no use in trying to please your opponent, if lows work, you better use them, especially if it's DJin's cd4,4. Made my random ducking reappear, and I thought I made progress in making it go away.
Your mind games were also something you made good use of, like Lee's WS 2,3. You always made it seem like you were gonna slide, got me everytime.
Mistakes can be lethal, and you were prepared for every mistake I would do. Tag crashing right after my character lands on the ground is something I might have to reconsider in the future. And rushing in with jabs after a move can end in me getting launched after a sidestep. Even if the move got - frames, no mashing after safe moves!

Thanks for playing against me. Today's session was extremely helpful :)

He's favorite in VF is Lau, so he likes kung fu dudes. (Easy to play...Shhhh!).

What's his easy stuff?

Lau needs to work around not having a 17f launcher for damage, and his P,K string is the worst in the game (-9 on block, rest of cast's P,K is -4)

You gotta fish for CH really, and his 2_3P is good for that but it hits high so 2P will blow it up. And the input is more difficult than something like Kage's 2_3P since you can't just buffer crouch-state with 33P. The mid version of that attack (4P+K) is very good but S L O W. I land it a lot, but not CH.

His throws are ok, not as good as some characters' but better than others'. Has a guardbreak, but I'd like a low throw :)

back to your regularly scheduled Tag 2 talk.

Easy controls. Harada is not pro player.

Lol flooded with Lau's frame data. XD

Compared to Akira, I guess, but compared to the rest of the cast I'd disagree mostly because of 2_3P which was much more important before Lau got 4P+K. If you want to buffer it with a crouch dash you either have to do 113P or 323P, neither of which are very comfortable motions (the former is preferred to me, but it's still a little weird - like 2/3rds of a shoryuken motion)

If you're getting hate mail, that means you are playing the right way. Keep doing what you're doing. :)

LOL i am still really bad at this game but i think i got some of the basics down. I can see some punish opportunities for example and learned to not Finnish most of my strings since you will become punishable then. I can maybe steal a round or 2 fighting against green ranked dans. But i am only dan 4 atm So wins come pretty easy and guess that enrages them.

Wait... by noob characters, did he actually include Xiaoyu? Hope he's joking, playing that girl is hard as fuck :p

Yeah he said characters. He was later suggesting me to use one of the mishimas. But for some reason i usually prefer girl characters since i don't like to play as uber buff guys. So i still have choices left in tekken since it such a diverse cast. Also yeah i noticed higher ranks can block my ling lows 80% of the time. So i try to mix them up more thanks for the tips. My juggles are not very good though further then some jabs with a kick behind it i haven't developed it. My Alisa juggles are way better but have some problems with launching with her since most of them are pretty slow. Also still need to adjust a bit too the ps3 dpad the u/f or d/f etc are a bit hard to do because i have not fully adjusted to that and sometimes do a back instead of a down back. I do have a headsets for my pc but it is with a audio 3,5mm port plug in. Guess they don't work with ps3 and need an usb one? I think i have to decline your offer then since it is not a most effective way of communicating. But thanks for the offer i will defitnely use your tips and try hypnose stand more. I just need to know when the opportunity is the best to use it if you use it too close you will get punished if i am to far they will anticipate it. Lastly dutch swear words are horrible do not like them since we like to swear a lot with diseases and don't know a lot of other languages who use those as swearing words.

it's funny, every time I play TTT2 on Xbox Live all I get are messages praising the match and gg messages.

Yeah it really depends on what characters you are using and at what level you are playing. Outside of ranked people can be way more friendly. And usually it are the low ranked calling all the bs.

Hey av2k. I'm online now playing with sasuke. Let me know if you want to join.
Or if anyone else wants to join, you're welcome to. :)

I recently found out that if you time it right, Lei's ss+4 launcher and Feng's qcf+1 will just mysteriously cause both characters to go through each other.

fuck you feng

Also anyone watch that KuroKuro stream recently with Harada on it? I think he mentioned that he wanted to have Location tests for Tekken 7 in September. (Additional post at #80 on it)

Maybe the game is further along then we thought?

So I've been messing with this Bob reset glitch with Marduk. With it, Marduk gets 126 damage off of d/f3,d1 and 130 damage off of CH u/f3. If he scores a wall carry into ground throw, he gets just under 160 damage.

Yeah... Fuck Bob.

So I was practicing the Marduk/Bob reset juggles on my laggy TV (since that's where my PS3 happens to be hooked up right now) and while hard as hell to connect, I think it can be made practical with a lot of practice and a non laggy set up.

Also, my apologies to Ninth Pixel. I totally didn't notice my chat was on the right side and thought it was on the bottom of the page like it used to be, so I thought there was just nobody saying anything in chat.

Other than that, I'm currently streaming that anti Anna stuff that I was talking about earlier in this thread.

If the game is that far along to already have location tests in September then I can't for the life of me figure out why their reveal trailer lacked any gameplay whatsoever.

Regardless, I am ready to see that next-gen Tekken and really looking forward to get back to 1v1 Tekken.

They're rough, I tried to do more but I found it hard to find anymore scenes where the entire head was in the shot, and worth cutting out. Suggest something if you want, and I would prefer if the source was high in quality.

The reason might be as simple and complicated as a contract.
If eg. Microsoft stated that if the game doesnt run and look equally as good as other platforms then it shouldn't be presented at all untill it is "fine" on XONE.
If they signed something like this then it might be one of the reasons we didn't see anything "real" yet.
