Fun match between Simon and Murray at the moment.
I should know, but who is this?
Murray played 3 out of 4 games for GB but shouldn't there really be limit, for example a max of 2 matches an individual can play. Because if you have a really top player you are going to have a very good chance of winning the tie before you even take a step on the court.
Out of interest, have there been any successful two-person Davis Cup teams for a World group match? i.e. the doubles team are made up solely of the two singles players?

So 14 year-old Felix Auger Aliassime is in the QF of a 100k challenger, breaking all sort of age records on the way.
Future GOAT or Donald Young?
Kyle Edmund is close to being in the top 100; that would make it 4 British men in the Top 100. Doesn't compare to there being 4 French men in the top 20 but it is progress.
Edit: Just had a look and saw that Ward is already out of the top 100; that didn't last long.
He's retiring at the U.S. open. Roddick humbled the fuck outta Taifoe in the exho before the tournament. I've seen avant garde performance art with better for than Francis Tiafoe.Atlanta draw is up, and Mardy Fish playing. He refuses to hang it up for some reason. Well, I guess the psych treatment he receives isn't cheap. Gotta pay the medical bills

Has Bedene always played for Great Britain?
Was playing tennis yesterday. Went down 3-5*, managed to break back and got it to 4*-5. But I went down set point at 30-40.....and saved it with a drop shot ^_^ I never hit drop shots so it was completely unexpected.
Closed out the game with an ace Went up 6*-5, and got broken again, lol
Won the tiebreak though, 7-3
I served HORRIBLY though -___- I hit like 5 double faults (2 back to back. Don't think I've ever done that before)
just kidding I don't play tennis
It's tough to close out a set serving at any level. 2 weeks ago I played a set where the first 8 games were holds. At 4-4 I broke to go up 5-4. dropped serve to 5-5. Broke back to go up 6-5 only to get broken again 6-6. So my opponent and I combined for 8 consecutive holds followed by 4 consecutive breaks. I ended up winning the tie break on a lucky shot. Was up 6-5 in the tiebreak serving when I hit a weak second serve, and my opponent hit a great return up the line. I did a full arm stretch just to get a racket on it and the ball I hit just crept over the net forcing the error. I felt bad because after wasting 2 service games to close out the set I didn't deserve to win it on a lucky shot, but such is tennis sometimes.
WTA lol. It was a combination of two things. Until that 3rd game in the second set Doi played really well, hitting the ball so cleanly and Radwanska on the other hand missing routine shots. But when Aga saved those break points, she gained confidence and cleaned up her game, Doi on the other hand started playing terrible.Looks like a weird match just finished between Radwanska and Misaki Doi - Misaki Doi won the first set 6-1, then led 2-0 in the second, before losing 12 straight games. Match wasn't televised in the UK, but I followed the score via google. Curious what the players were doing.
The field is so weak in Stanford this year. And CiCi's parents keep ruining her schedule, they really want her to go to college......
What a disaster.Eugenie Bouchard has ditched Sam Sumyk(or vicee versa)just before the Rogers Cup,that starts Saturday in Toronto for the WTA and in Montreal for the ATP...so the working for next year plan sure went well
SEATTLE, WA Quantitative analysis of the performance of men and women professional tennis players over the past five completed seasons shows for the first time that evidence of inconsistency in womens play is likely attributable to match format (e.g., best of three or five sets), not gender, Stephanie Kovalchik an associate statistician with the RAND Corporation revealed at a session focused on analytics of womens sports at the 2015 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM 2015) in Seattle.
During her topic-contributed session, titled Are Women Professional Tennis Players Really Less Consistent Than Male Players?, Kovalchik said she carried out the research project to test the hypothesis that female tennis players are less consistent than their male counterparts.
..
Of the six measures of consistency Kovalchik examined, half showed no gender differences in performance. For the three measures upsets, letdowns and variation in win percentage differences were found that suggest female players have had less consistent performance in the seasons considered. However, these differences were observed only at Grand Slam tournaments, where women play a different match format than males women play a best-of-three format, where the winner is the first to win two sets; men play a best-of-five, where the winner is the first to win three sets.
You want best of five for all too brah?
You want best of five for all too brah?
Yes.. Well, the first week it would be a challenge to fit it all in, and to be honest I've long thought that early round five set matches are bad for the tournament also for men, but in the 2nd week? Absolutely. And the WTA has asked for it repeatedly, getting no from the slam bigwigs each time. I don't really get it. Giving the women five sets in the 2nd week or final rounds should not make scheduling any harder, and ensure more great finals.
Forgot to post after watching Aga/Kerber last week - it was a superb match, easily one of the best Aga has played this year, controlling and redirecting pace expertly, but Kerber was just too solid when it counted on the big points, and came from behind to edge it. Was very impressed with Kerber's level of play and how she dealt with Radwanska's variation.
Looking forward to Bencic v Bouchard tonight. Last year's darling vs. this year's.
Bouchard looks like a scrub on the court. Bencic is a class above her
Bencic is going to beat Lisicki handily.
The bigger question is, can Dolan beat Berdych?
