lol great way to finish the set. Im still expecting him to win somehow, even if im rooting for novak. Would be glad to be proven wrong though.

hmm Novaks first serve dropped a lot. Only 2 I think in those two games. He didn't practice much, wonder if Rafa can stretch him...come on Nole !

Nice win by Novak. I didn't even expect him to make the final, let alone win it. Now he only needs to beat Nadal at Madrid and the FO and he will have beat him at all the big clay tournaments.

He actually beat him in madrid in 2011. I would love to see novak win the FO beating nadal .

he already beat him in Madrid 2011. Check out highlights aka Backhand porn.

Only RG remaining.

EDIT:Novak played like a God in some parts of the match. It was sick.

Is this the beginning of the end for Nadal?

nope. Not even if he doesn't win RG or any slam this year. In the long run he will get better and better, keep in mind he was away for 7 months. He didn't play poorly, novak played like an alien for most of the match. I see Rafa finishing the season as nr 2 tbh.
On clay no one else can beat him atm.

Novak was hitting that FH down the line like in 2011. Mid second set I was so annoyed that he switched and just kept going to CC, but once again he began going down the line Rafa was in trouble. I know it's hard, but you have to do it vs Rafa.

Great result.

Nadal really isn't even a quarter of the player he was here most of the years he'd won here though. Will no doubt improve but still for me Djokovic is definitely the favourite for Roland Garros now.

Right next to you with your fake drama:

dick don't do that. Quote entire comment.

why is novak doing this to himself? if he is injured he can't win this, he can only make it worse and maybe get a serious problem with ankles in the future. I don't get it really.
Unless he is faking it.

My comment was based on first or second round, when he clearly suffered, but I added [Unless he is faking it]. Novak was using Rafa tactics "injury BS" to remove pressure of himself.

Impressive win, but doesn't really indicate much for the French. Interested to see how the other clay tourneys play out.

First Porsche's Global Ambassador. Get dat money Maria (Tifanny, Head, Cole Haan, Evian, Nike, Tag Heuer, Samsung - based on her website - and now Porsche, I mean, wow - she could stop playing with all this money, I think it shows that playing tennis its what she really loves to do). She looks amazing btw, especially in the second photo (if you know what I mean :D) Also, if she doesnt win Stuttgart now... lol

It seems they photoshopped out her hefty moustache in those photos. :(

Whatever. You make endless tirades whenever Djokovic scratches his nails.

Was traveling during the match (haven't even seen it yet), but...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Order has been restored! Can't believe that Novak almost bageled him (but I guess that isn't that huge since Nadal has been bageld a couple of times on clay....one of them being by Fed).

Also, Novak became the first man to hold at least 8 of the 9 Masters. He only has Cincinnati left. By comparison, Fed needs Monte Carlo & Rome and Nadal needs Miami, Cincy and Paris.

which they will never win. Cincy and Paris are too fast for Rafa. Miami he can win.
Novak will win cincy, he played 4 or 5 finals I think.

FO announced that they won't reseed nadal, which means a Djoko/Nadal QF is possible. as a federer fan i wouldn't mind that much but as a tennis fan it would be a shame. One side of the bracket could be extremely loaded with Federer/Djokovic/Nadal in it.

best case scenario: Murray/Nadal QF.

that would seem fair.
But let's assume Roger is nr3. He has to defend title in madrid and SF in Rome. and even then Murray could over take him since he defends few points. So it is realistic to say Novak, roger and rafa could end up in the same half. Worst case scenario. Novak beats rafa and roger in a long matches. Murray takes him in the final since he is so tired....that would be a nightmare! I agree I hope rafa and murray are in the other half.

Ugh seriously? Damnnn, was hoping that moustached guy would stick to his guts, too bad :/

Well, when two of the top 4 players threatened to boycott if it didn't revert back, dude had little choice. I liked it, personally.

I did not. It didn't look like clay, and it definitelly didn't play like clay. For some 250 events I would support it. but for a big clay masters event, a few weeks before RG, hell no.

It didn't play like a normal clay court not because of the color of the clay, which didn't matter at all. The great difference between Madrid and Paris is that in Paris there's 150cm of various materials between the concrete base and the surface, whereas in Madrid it's 30cm.

It'll be interesting to see if they finally did something about it.

So gorgeous, it's like he's playing on water *.*

What is funny is that Federer didn't really like the clay because it was so slippery, but he didn't go around acting like a diva and threaten to boycott the tournament like Nadal and Djokovic did. He ended up winning the tournament. Federer said in an interview that when he played in the late 90s and early 00s, players had to change surfaces all the time (fast indoors, slow clay, fast grass ,etc..). But now most surfaces are the same and very slow, so when a change is introduced, everyone freaks out.

Yep, I think it is very unfortunate that most people associate the slipperiness with the color. The problem with Madrid last year mainly resulted form the layering of the clay, not the color. I would love to see another tournament try blue clay next year. It is very easy on the eyes.

Well said. I'd love to see more blue clay tourneys, but I don't see it happening, unfortunately. Tourney directors will just take the overreactions at Madrid as gospel, even though the color really doesn't have jackshit to do with anything. Blue was infinitely better to me as a viewer.

American tennis sucks so bad right now, all of our best players are playing in a challenger this week. Mardy Fish lost first round. lol

But dude, Donald Young and Ryan Harrison might face each other in the Savannah final! The future of US men's tennis!!

wish I was dead

funny he says considering slowing of the courts helped him immensely. Wimbledon was slowed down in 2002 and was slowing down each year. It didn't help Roddick and his game, neither safins. It helped Roger the most. and do you think Rafa would have won on "old" grass? I doubt it. Same goes for novak. I think Roger would still dominate, but Roddick would have won it 2 or 3 times at least.

People overlook Rogers defensive skills, before rafa, nole and andy he was the defense king imo. Go watch some old yt vids. those other 3 brought a higher level.

Just to be clear I am for faster courts and more variation, but blue clay is not clay. It is really fast, with lower bounce and slippery, that is not clay.

If it was my call I would have more grass events and more fast HC.
