Tesla Stops Accepting Bitcoin

How do you even argue with this?

He said this on April.

Is BTC that power hungry?
Yes. The consensus protocol, proof-of-work, is very power hungry, especially if there's a lot of competition. That's one of the reasons that makes it so safe, you can't collude against the network.

Bitcoin on sale! Now is your chance.

Watch them walk back this statement after it soars again.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Tesla must have already cashed out LOL.

I am heavy into Crypto, but to me Bitcoin was always just a store of value, and nothing much beyond that, so I liquidated my last position yesterday to continue investing in block chains with use cases I am more excited about. It seems I lucked out.

Edit: Probably some rich whale who is threatened by crypto pushed Elon to do this.

This is annoying cause if anything Bitcoin is the MOST like EVs.

Bitcoin can be mined using solar or wind they go where it costs the least for electricity. It's wildly hypocritical to be against Bitcoin when Tesla EVs power comes from the same providers for electricity. They should stop selling Teslas in China if they are so worried about coal powered electricity.

What a surprise. The second Bitcoin tanks $10,000 in value, suddenly it's not such a good currency after all.

My two theories:

  • Deliberately tanking the price of bitcoin in the short term so they can accumulate more closer to their original buy price.
Or
  • Musk/tesla want to create their own "energy efficient" crypto and this is them gearing up to announcing it soon.
Either way, it's market manipulation, but that's crypto for you.

Maybe he should also stop poluting the sky with his garbage starlink program until he has rockets that are more energy efficient and only use 1% of the fuel and the satalites are invisible to the human eye.

Oh wait.

Still better than fiat money.

In the end, nothing has changed. Tesla did not accept btc, and now again they do not accept btc.
All that happened is a tweet.

Fascinating to see the response though, Elon is internet macdaddy.

Will Elon ever not be the Hero/Villain of this lackluster shitheap that we call humanity?
He really does do some stupid shit that makes you want to dislike him while also saving humanity.

Flawed hero like all the comic book ones I guess? Lol.

More like Tony Stark than I imagined it seems.

He's more of a clown figure that is going to wreck thousands of kids who are going to lose money because of him shilling ponzi dog crap. Hopefully regulators will intervene sooner or later.

How is he saving humanity lol.
Really?

Dude pretty much single-handedly saved space exploration and made EV's the norm.

Elon about to announce his Crypto that is mined by driving the Tesla vehicles..... shits going to be wild.

I wouldn't be surprised *at all*

I wonder if him pushing Doge is an attempt to undermine the larger coins to create space in the market, or maybe he's going to try to implement them with Tesla... doubt on the latter.

Son, please. That's just plain dumb.
What do these building and offices run on magic fairy dust? Dumb is saying something and not doing the research. What about all the banks who’s customers are big oil gas and militaries. Isn’t that counter productive? Bitcoin doesn’t fund war.

this topic has been discussed for years in the crypto community. It isn’t new and it has always been false.

Energy consumption is not pollution.

Way I see it, all fossil fuels still stuck in the earth are going to get extracted for energy or other usage.

The sooner we run out, the sooner we get forced to think about alternatives. Remember 'peak oil'.

Use it all, then forget about it. (And then deal with the consequences).
Any other approach for any country is to shoot itself in the foot at THIS moment. China is doing its job by burning god awful amounts of coal, aint nobody going to stop them.

Just gotta ask: what is bitcoin giving me in return.

Thick. Comparing an obsolete, unregulated, crypto token to tangible assets and capital.

Why even water plants and feed chicken man?

Fuel cost for mining gold is worse, not to mention countless other industries and their fuel usage.

This is Elon manipulating prices, I'm always amazed at the effect his tweets have on the market though.
