It's also worth mentioning that this game has an MSRP of $49.99 USD/CAD for consoles and $39.99 USD/CAD for PC.

Smart move by Atari.
This honestly is making me rethink my wait for price drops this year plan. I was sort of interested before, mostly do to gaf praise of TDU, now I am excited. It only $10, but I really want to support games/devs that give us a little break, coupled with the gamestop deal, I think I will bite.
The video review make it look like it had some cool ideas, reading the written one now.

I have just bought a new MacMini.

Will I be able to play this on it, have no idea what happens to spec when run through BootCamp (this is my first cross-platform Mac, been working on 867G4 for past 8 years).

Thanx in adv.

Played through TDU1 completely finding 100% of the roads. The sense of exploration in this game is off the charts. Far greater than say BOP.

I liked the first one. A bit more relaxed than most "racers". Alot of the time you are just driving around the map. I think it will be a nice change of pace.
My girl is excited about the casino DLC, so I am going to have to pre-order at gamestop today she she can get her fix.

Just played the first 40 minutes and completed the first driving school. Need to play more of course and the servers were offline, but the first impression for me is that it's not my type of game. The story setup is kinda lame but as long as the gameplay is nice I don't really care.

I'm still trying to get a handle on the feature changes between TDU 1 and 2. Can anybody correct me or add to this?

New:

* Day/Night cycle. Revamped lighting model overall.
* Changing weather conditions.
* Rebuilt handling engine.
* More out-of-care experiences and social hubs.
* Casinos.
* Loose storyline.
* Off road cars.

Removed:

* No Lambos.
* No seat adjustment.

Is this just about everything? I haven't heard anything specifically mentioned about graphics upgrades besides the lighting.

I have no idea why they included wet weather but no windscreenwipers at all, it ruins the immersion.

Budget cuts my friend.

I wonder how many more diverse cars we would get if not for the whole ferrari bunch?

I am kinda interested in the game since I think is a good concept.. looking forward to some of your guys impressions

Man, they got rid of this? I loved that feature in the first, you could make the cockpit more real feeling (i.e., not staring at most of the wheel on the screen)

I went ahead and did a last minute preorder at gamestop to get that free DLC. Hopefully this and You Don't Know Jack are awesome, although they really have no hype or advertising.

Yep. I guess they rebuilt the underlying systems from scratch and never got the time to implement it.

Anyone know when this will start downloading on Steam? Will they wait until midnight PST? midnight EST? or will it be sometime tomorrow?

Really hope there is a demo, would like to try the pad with the 360 version and the G27 with the PS3.

Just watched the review and the question of whether or not you could customize the cars wasn't addressed. Can you?

iv been playing this for a few hours today, and i have to tell you i love the size of the island and the online racing etc but the handling of the cars just suck, there is no weight in them and its not fun at all.

Well that doesn't sound promising...:(

Have you guys tried Hardcore mode yet, might make the handling better?

Also what's the damage model like?

So how is this game at keeping you going in the right direction during a race? I never tried the first TDU and my only real experience with an open world racer is Burnout: Paradise. The one problem I always had with the game was when I would turn down a road thinking it was a shortcut when it actually put me going the wrong way. Does TDU have a similar system to Burnout with the blinking turn signal or does it take a completely different approach?

TDU had direction arrows on the screen, plus a GPS in the corner that highlighted your route. I played the shit out of the first game and got 100%, and never really recall getting lost or taking the wrong roads like in Burnout Paradise. It happened to me all the time in that game though.

And it does not influence the car handling at all.

It has satnav :D And I don't know if this is new, but it has a feature called F.R.I.M. Free Ride Instant Money. Dodging other cars, drifting or jumping earns you points. You can string them together to get more money and after three "moves" you can bank the money or wait and try more dodging etc. without hitting anything.

is it just me or do the cars not feel right......

I was thinking that myself but then I only play arcade racers. So if TDU2 has any kind of simulation going on that may be the part I don't really like.
