My Gamestop DLC Preorder bonus code doesn't work, anyone else on 360 getting this error?

From the official forums

" The Xbox version of TDU2 Casino Online is not live yet. This is scheduled to go live before end-of-day on February 9th (or earlier). Will update when it's ready!"

wow love this game so far, beautiful and colorful world they created

for me handling totally fine, though I like arcade racing like burnout verus technical sim type games like turismo

I find the handling totally competent to what the game is. Sure, it's easy to slide off the road and spin out, but whatever. It's not trying to be Forza.

I'm enjoying it as much as the first, although the cutscenes and character voice work are awful.

All the pre-order cars are up on XBLM for 80pts each. Not bad.

Casino is 800, as previously advertised. :)

Sorry, cjelly - just to clarify, the DLC cars are not those offered for preorder - the Veyron 16.4 Supersport Special Edition will apparently be made available, along with all the others, but at a much later date. Atari confirmed this. I'm still buying the Veyron Grand Sport Sang Bleu and Centenaire models, however! ;)

I do hope they'll add bigger car packs, beyond mere Special Editions, before too long...

I've easily won all the single player events I've done so far. I like the game, but would like a bit more challenge from the AI instead of cruising to wins.

Good to hear for me! I sucked at the first game, lol.

Can anyone who was in the closed beta comment on improvements? I'm pretty soured from it. Crappy perf is my biggest concern. I got ~30fps on highest settings and it still looked kinda janky.

I really want this game to run well. I'll buy it right now.

Okaaaaaaay, been playing it for a while now and here are my thoughts:

1) Controls are fine. I don't know what you guys were looking for, but this is what I call arcade controls. It's not like Sega style arcade, it is Atari style. It's somewhere between Burnout and SF Rush without the flying. It is completely what I expected.

2) Graphics performance is a bit disappointing. It's no DiRT 2 but it still does pretty well. Running everything max it goes 30 but simply drop environment to Medium and no other changes and it's running 60 and I don't even notice a difference. For some reason if you have CCC set to SSAA it has weird shadow lines, so you have to run in MSAA. It's not as nice but runs very well.

3) I really, really hate forced introductions and wonder why the racing genre in particular has taken to them so strongly. Let me start the story when I want to start the story, let me adjust the options before selecting my character, let me turn off the stupid guide-you-by-the-hand shit and especially the lady speaking things to me. I would much, much, much rather have help menus that I manually access to find out how to do things.

4) The means of selecting and deselecting the next goal on the GPS is kind of a hassle. The whole map screen definitely could have been done better.

5) Races are fun, driving around is fun, customization should be pretty neat. Are you able to change characters later or are you forever stuck with the one you picked?

6) I greatly appreciate the quick "restart challenge" ability. Not all open world games have this sort of common sense.

What kind of customizations are there?

I don't know how many different things you can customize, I've only seen some of the character stuff, but some stuff in the game makes it sound like you can do a lot with buildings and cars, too.

It was funny walking into the driving school and there are like 20 white guys and 2 or 3 asian guys, and I am the only black guy (the only character I thought didn't look like a complete tool) and no shirt because I didn't like the valet nametag. I wonder if people will think I'm black just because I use the black guy.

I was in the PC beta as well and am curious about what the differences are, in particular with the handling. I'll be giving impressions tonight (my brother pre-bought it for me on PC for Christmas) so watch this space if you're still curious by then, Metalmurphy.

Even though I was gifted it on PC, if it is somewhat decent I'll be buying it for 360 as well. Not that the devs deserve my money or whatever, but I may get the impression that it'll "feel" better on a big screen than a small one.

PS. I kicked off the install this morning... 15gig?!? What the hell is in the PC version that isn't in the 360 one to blow it out to twice the size?

Have you SEEN textures on PC games? :p

I've done some cruising around and the first two championships (as well as the first three licenses, I guess), and I'm enjoying it.

The handling isn't great, but so far it doesn't seem significantly different than the first game. My only real complaint is that the cockpit view pans back too quickly, so tiny adjustments of the wheel with the controller causes the entire view to jerk back and forth. Oddly enough they don't have that problem with the exterior view - odd only because I found the first game nearly undrivable from behind, kind of like Gran Turismo.

Don't like the new GPS, though. I could have sworn the previous game let you tap a single button to set a new waypoint. Now if you want to set a waypoint to somewhere you haven't been, you have to click on it, disable your current waypoint, and then hit A and scroll down to set a new waypoint. It's clunkier than it should be.

The island looks great, of course, and I love nighttime racing away from the urban areas as I think the game handles headlights pretty well. Peeking in your rear view and you get pretty much pitch black.

Cutscenes are hilariously bad, too, but they aren't as frequent once you get past all the intro stuff.

It's kind of annoying to see obtuse stuff from the original carry over to the second game - like having to discover everything. All I want to do is find a tuner for EU sports cars, but I've been driving around looking for one for the past half hour to no avail. Also, I won Miami's unique car, only to find that it can't be sold, the garish pink colour scheme can't be changed and now I can't buy a new car until I've got a new house because it's taking up a slot in the garage. I'm getting used to the handling, but it's still very twitchy and I find the braking inconsistent. It's been a while since I played the original TDU, but I don't remember disliking the handling quite as much.

You were right about the environment setting, now is set to medium and is running 60 fps steady.

So far, I really liked the game (including controls).

PC's are not limited to small screens. Hook your pc up to your hdtv and you get the best of both worlds.

I herd you liked PCs...

Anyways, does anyone have any screens they could post from the PC version?

Haha cutscenes are terrible. They feel like long, awkward preludes to Sims-style machinima porn that never gets around to happening.

Also the two radio stations are kind of shitty, there is a good Paul Van Dyk song in there somewhere though.

I don't mind the handling too much, and have only done a few events, but it feels a lot like the last TDU (which I loved.)

Cutscenes need to be skippable. Lack of customizable cockpit view really sucks. Shouldn't have removed that. Also, the side-to-side panning of the camera when you turn the wheel does get annoying fast and makes the car look like is more floaty than it actually is. If you go into the hood/bumper cam, it looks fine.

Haven't played it with a wheel (or even a gamepad) so I can't comment on the controls yet.

The environment setting affects draw distance. On Medium I notice quite a bit of texture pop-in in grassy areas. Stepping up to high fixes that, but there's little difference between it and very high.

Just a heads up: It finally works (on PSN, at least).

DAMN, the Casino DLC costs $9.99 if you didn't get it free from Gamestop. WOW!

loving the handling. big improvement over the first game. was playing tdu1 again last week warming up for this. really huge improvement in all aspects. interface, single player stuff. but especially loving the upgraded graphics. island is very varied and awesome. really looking forward to seeing how hawaii island has been brought forward, hopefully looks OK as well.

but most important thing I have to say so far, this game looks fucking amazing in 3D. AMAZING. anyone with 3D vision stuff for PC fucking hook it up.

played for about 8 hrs so far it seems like. car collecting is a little slow, still only got two cars. three houses. been testing out all the different things though, customising the houses and the character in every which way. but most of all I've been drawing roads so far hehe, my favourite part of the first one. drawing the roads on the map. :-D AWESOME

but seriously the best way to play this game. 3D vision and a wheel. yesssssssssssss

low blow man..low blow.

i didn't play more than 20 or so minutes of it today, but what i saw was enough. i'll definitely put more time into it this weekend though.

"Yo dawg I heard you like PC's..."

lol typo.

Bah, so disappointed with the performance. I tried running the game at 1280x720 and the framerate didn't change! That would sound like a classic case of a CPU bottlenecking the system, but I have an i7 950 (and a geforce 460).

This game is pretty ordinary if you ask me. Stay clear.

Production values in cut scenes are of 2005 proportions.

Graphics are not as good as the first game if you ask me.

Overall, average game that will be forgotten in weeks.

I played 20 mins and that was enough for me :lol.

But I'll give it more of a fair shot this weekend.

i put it on for a test drive and I ended up being glued for over 3hrs.. I don't think the handling is as bad as some people are making it out to be. Sure is not sim.. but I put my controls in sport and seems to be driveable.

The vast areas to explore is pretty fun.. I like it quite a bit so far.

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Tried it with the G27 wheel and set the assist mode to 'Hardcore'. What a joke. Going to try with my 360 pad later and see how I go but so far I got buyers remorse for the third time in as many months. :lol

Big-ass Ramp

hella bullets that's true
I just started playing my copy. The first thing I noticed is that the handling is indeed pretty terrible. It's way way too twitchy, to the point where I'm barely moving the analog stick and it makes my car jerk in that direction. I don't think it's game breaking, but it's certainly distracting. If you're on the fence about which version to get, go with the PC version in hopes the community can fix the handling.

Granted I never played TDU on the PC, played on the Xbox 360 but the graphics in TDU2 seem light years ahead of TDU... and this at 60 FPS in an open world game. The thing that irks me is that the game is somewhat janky which rips you out of the immersion which actually is the primary attribute that TDU is supposed to represent.

DllHost2011-02-0900-02-00-32.jpg

Also the handling at least the Ferrari I've been dicking around in for the past hour isn't that bad :) Not saying their couldn't be some improvement but it's fine for now.
