We plan to add mini-games to the game, including some card games. We do not yet have full details so please be patient and we will provide more information when we have it to give.

I'd never leave.

That. would. be. so. awesome!

It'd actually give people something to do while waiting for a group member to arrive or something.

It would certainly be more fun than playing fake poker online, where there's no consequences to losing. At the same time, it wouldn't be as bad as playing real poker online where you can lose your ass.

Unfortunately too many "Where art thou going, yon traveler?" dorks would whine that it detracts from the fantasy atmosphere, so they will probably just make up some retarded fictional card game.

I hope they're graphical.

They did this in SWG and they were just text based.

Do something like TetraMaster in PlayOnline, but in-game.

On the RP servers maybe. :P

I would sincerely doubt that after making so much hooplah about how player-run casinos shouldn't be allowed and would result in permabans when found being run, under the reasoning that dumb people would get swindled of all their money that they'd turn around and enable users to just sit in the pub and gamble their money through some Hold'em widget.

That said, the idea of a minigame to pass the idle time would make great use of the fact that you're playing online with tons of other people. I'm a paladin and my preference is to solo 80% of the time, but I've got a friend who's a few levels higher and usually on the other side of the continent. It'd be fun to play a minigame with him while I'm just repetitively killing critters and skinning them.

So I doubt Hold'em would be added if they're not going to let you bet on games.

Maybe Go Fish? Or Old Maid? Or something equally childish?

Perhaps they'll license out some Nintendo games!

...i am teh kidding.

I think the real problem with player-run casinos was the spam it caused in the AH areas.

And goblins saying stuff like "keep it real" and "yo!" (or various retarded dances the various races do) doesn't? WoW is definitely not a serious mmorpg, poker would fit in fine.

Well, making sure people don't speak in present day slang is nigh-impossible for the developer. Adding in anachronistic card games is a choice that they make however, so I'm sure they would be held more responsible.

The goblins in the game are NPCs. It was their choice to make them speak like that.

Not to mention that Undead headbang when they dance, Orcs do the running man, the hammer dance, Tauren do a goofy dance, and trolls do Capoiera. They're not taking it seriously at all :-p, I don't think anachronism is one of their worries.

Doesn't get much better on the alliance side with the night elf males dancing like michael jackson and the human males disco dancing :lol

The Night Elf female dances very nice imo :D

Edit: Also, not to sound like a complete nerd, they really resemble my girl's way of dancing.... ;) Who happens to play a Night Elf Huntress in the future, as soon as we get out gaming rigs together...

Don't forget that there's a few poker references in the game already.

A quest line in Feralas makes reference to a friendly rivalry a couple elves have playing a game called "Kalimdor Hold'Em".

So it's definitely not out of the question.

Ferrio: Someday we need to get another game of IRC Poker going. Hopefully with more than 4 people.

Oh fuck. If they do this, it might give my brother a reason to play this. We've been trying to get him to avoid the game for the sake of his college education. He plays Party Poker and if they add something like this, I'll have a hard time convincing him otherwise. :( Damn you Blizzard! You're causing so many dropouts!
