Texas Lt. Gov. calls for Fort Worth superintendent resignation over bathroom policy

Dan Patrick is such an embarrassment. Radio shock jock. Changed his name to be less ethnic sounding. A scary scary guy. The face of evil, frankly here. Wants total control over people's bodies and minds.

He has placed his own personal political agenda ahead of the more than 86,000 students attending 146 schools in the district by unilaterally adopting ‘Transgender Student Guidelines.’

"Title IX compliance" = "personal political agenda," now?

Why exactly is it that so many Republicans become concerned with rape only when they can use it as a justification to be bigoted cunts?

Clearly perverts would dress as a woman and publicly identify as one in order to get access to a female bathroom.
I mean, it's not like they'd just sneak in while no-one was looking.

As I said earlier, he has expressed interest in passing the same kind of law that North Carolina did.

It's time to call his bluff. And I hate that the students are/will be used as pawns for a dick measuring contest, to be frank, but better to get this nonsense taken care of now than delaying the enviable.

You'd think he would go through with it AFTER the feds successfully win their suit against North Carolina? I mean if through the courts, it's been shown that you can't pass this law, would governors still pass the same law?

Bonus Question: If this HB2 law gets knocked down, does the amendment go away or does the entire law go away? Wasn't there extra stuff in the law that was passed with the anti-transgender amendment?

IIRC, there was something about banning the city from raising minimum wage.

Hold up. It says in the OP:

Transgender students are allowed to use the sex of the bathroom they identify with when no other students are present, according to the guidelines.

Now I don't agree with such limitations...

but it's pretty hard to sexually assault someone when you're in a room alone by yourself.

Er... think you're mixing up Dan Patricks.

Funny!

This guy was born Dannie Goeb, changed his name to Patrick when became a sports guy then radio shock jock and is now a politician. Completely unlike the other Dan Patrick who dropped his last name and is currently on the radio, completely.

Of course, now I'm expecting some of the fine, upstanding students to stage a sit-in and prevent Trans students from using any of the bathrooms.

What the fuck is people's problem? In the entirety of my life I have never gone to a washroom and cared about other people taking a shit or pissing. Like do they think goes on in washrooms? And even more so, who the fuck is stopping anyone of us regardless of gender identity from going into the opposite sex's washroom? Any of us can do it right now. Nothing is going to happen to you. So what is these people's damage?

So, Texas has a lot more high profile companies than North Carolina. Several of these companies have signed onto equal rights commitments similar to the companies that started bailing out of NC or threatening to leave Georgia. If they try to pass the same type of bill in Texas, I expect it to be pretty chaotic.

Do you have a link to a list of those companies?

HRC has the big list. Lots of these companies have huge presences in Texas, including major headquarters or manufacturing facilities (worked for several) and policies that support LGBT employees.

This really is one of those areas where the big business wing and the social conservative wings are at odds with one another. Pretty interesting.

The party of "small government" wants to regulate which bathroom individuals use.

Heads up, Republicans: we don't need laws for this. It's already working just fine. The only problems with bathroom usage are the ones being caused by these stupid laws, policies and debates.

If the Lt. Gov is so upset about it, he should convince the state house to pass a law preventing that.
So they can get sued and lose federal funding. They don't want those problems.

You must not be familiar with the Texas legislature and their affinity for stupid lawsuits aimed at antagonizing the federal government. They would LOVE to.

Keep in mind, this is the state that went from George W. Bush to Rick Perry to Greg Abbott (current), to Dan Patrick being the next potential gubernatorial douchebag. Also, Ted Cruz. Louis Gohmert. Ron Paul. And on and on that list goes.

Vivid vigor is the most delightful euphemism for boner I have ever heard in my life. I truly hope that isn't a transcription error of "vim and vigor."

They've lost on gay marriage and they have moved on to this.

I'm glad Loretta Lynch laid down the fucking law.

We need to elect a Democrat to keep the fight going.

I'm moving to Texas in a few weeks to work in federal civil rights enforcement in education.

I've got my work cut out for me, FFS.

For a puritan country that's about being conservative (not in a political sense), we've really had so much discussion about bowel movements in the past few months.

ETA- my dorms had co-ed bathrooms and showers back in the late 90s. Not a problem then, other than shy shitters and pissers. Weird how it's a problem now.

Could you see it happening, where the class clown dresses up as a girl to get into the girl's bathroom? Do you, for instance, have an example of that?

Hmm, that entire scenario sounds exactly like what Bill O'Reilly said on the topic with his two female pundits Tuesday night. Had to explain to a few people at the gym that I wasn't flipping them off or cursing them out, just the fucking morons on Fox News.

Not everybody has gone through the dorm experience, and certainly not as minors.
